I had a headlight bulb burn out on my 2010D. When I took it out, I found it to be a rare breed. It is an oblong bulb with a notched flange... 25/35/watt. Like nothing readily available. I took it out to the John Deer dealer & he tried, but failed. My question is this, Has anyone converted their headlights to halogens? At least the bulbs are available!

I've heard that a Yamaha(?) motorcycle has a bulb that will replace yours. Check your local motorcycle dealer.

I've also bought them at Massey Ferguson dealers.

Went to Yahoo to find the Yamaha part number took 40 mins (arrggh). Anyway, here is what was posted sometime back for a replacement bulb for a YM2000. May fit a 2010. Yamnar parts dealers may have the exact bulb in stock as well.
Yamaha part # 21V-84314-00-XX

Why not just try one of the dealers on this board? They always have them in stock. There is more than one . Different models use different bulbs. All the other bother isn't really needed.

Man was that a noble deed. Most of the time it takes so long to get in that I just forget about it. The internet hasn't bread patience in me.

I replaced my headlights with halogon driving lights (Blazer brand) They fit almost perfectly with no modifications. I kept the OEM lights, and can easily put them back to original if I want. The halogens are a lot brighter, and I am very pleased. They were about $18, probably cheaper than one bulb.

Thank you for your info!! I got my bulb at the local Yamaha Dealer, & even though your number wasn't the correct one, He dug one out that was in the bin right next to the number you gave and it was just right. Cost a whole $3.17. The correct number was 102843140XX. Thanks Again!!

Man! Those Yamaha replacement bulbs are going to make some people as mad as the JD replacement keys did on the old club. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif There go the profits. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

I agree in general Pennwalk, as I too chase down alternative less expensive parts occasionally. Realistically, the profits on a lightbulb or key would'nt motivate most folks to walk across the room to pick up a cup of air to breath it.

I always try to not take our parts guys for granted, and also refrain from flaunting any savings in thier face. We are lucky to have a few dedicated parts folks here that basically will offer free advise to anyone and offer hard to find parts to those that need them. You can't beat that!

I certainly am not trying to send business away from our loyal parts guys or dealers. I think they're great, especially one that can send me oil filters in 2-3 days. I use Yanmar parts when something needs replaced. I just tried to give the guy an option other than converting his headlights to halogen And one of these days maybe I need to order a key, since I only have one, even though I drive by a JD dealer every day and he probably has one that "will fit".
