Pretty sure the 345 came with a plastic cam gear. Might want to ask if it was changed out. Also not sure, but remember reading that they had a fuel pump problem which would need to be modified to avoid engine fire. I might be wrong about these items, maybe other could chime in. I like the water cooled machines and recently almost bought a gx345.

Might I ask why you did not buy it?

And I see you have a 322, how do you like it? There is one for sale local at $3000..

Thanks for the heads up on the cam gear, I know they fixed that problem in the 425's in 1998, this 345 is a 1999 model and I was hoping they had fixed it too.. any knowledge of that ?

Should be OK- they fixed the plastic Cam with the 98 year when they went to 20HP- so you should be fine with that 1999 345. 322 are tanks- but they are coming up on 30 years old- so hard to use one as your everyday mower- unless you've had it for years. I'd stay with the 345-- at least look at it- price is right

Love the 322. Loads of instant power. And quiet. I disc harrowed with it early in the year. It is supposed to be my mule but mowed with it twice in spring since the 318 ( my weekly mower) was set up with the model 30 tiller. The 318 also does leaf collection in fall and plows the snow in winter.
I was looking for a dedicated mower with foot peddle control. And a GX345 was at my local dealer. Needed all the lower front plastic at bumper and the upper hood half. Some powder coat pealing off the fender pan and rust on the deck where water would pool. Plus a new seat. $1675 with 550 hours. Never acted fast enough and it sold during their yearly auction. The tractor you are looking at looks to be in great shape and clean.

The seller had his demo all figured out! We went through the mower first looking it over, he told me and showed me a "small" oil leak at the "valve cover gasket"... So he starts it up, quickly rides a small loop, while mowing a section, then shuts it right off! I had him start it up again, I wanted to check it out running .. and in no time we were swallowed by a large white cloud! If he hadn't started it back up he would have been in the "clear"! But I would have had to drive it anyway so he wouldn't have gotten away with it with me.. but some unsuspecting naïve buyer might be in trouble!

So I was working on setting up a look at the GX345, the seller could only do it today. Also he wanted to haul it to a Walmart parking lot and show me there???? Seemed odd, and not a good place for a good testing so I've declined. Besides I have tickets to the Coca Cola 600 today and its on the far side of town.

I think you did very well- the 345 is an excellent machine, and that one looks to be in good shape and well cared for. Kawi liquid cooled engine, K71 tranny nice… What year is it? Only thing you have to be “concerned” with- does it have plastic cam? And was factory upgrade done on fuel pump- I believe the steel Cam was put in mid-98 year, anything after 1999 should have metal Cam and upgraded fuel pump

Its a 1996, was that cam in this motor too? Thought it was in the bigger one, if not... I'm sure its in there still.
What about the fuel pump? hadn't heard anything on that.
And yes its in good shape, one owner kept inside..
