Deere 755

/ Deere 755 #21
My first step up from a 317 was a 755 that had 215 hrs on it when I bought it in '90. An estate sale and they were in a rush to move it. My wife pushed me into selling it to a niece (Like '98-'00) who had started a vet business..Who was I to argue. That tractor is still going strong. To me those 55 series were bullet proof- in particular with reasonable care and also kept under cover to prevent corrosion.

Not sure where you came up with that. You can still buy every single factory base configuration part ever made for all of the Deere x55 series, right down to major castings like the front axle. I just sold my 855, and had no trouble with parts availability.

The only thing they’ve discontinued is some of the accessory parts, like the custom-bent tube assembly required to add Power Beyond function to an old tractor. Then again, it’s a 40 year old design.
That's nice to hear. About the 2700 hours....I have bought several used tractors
over the last 50 years - including well used JDs and Yanmars.

For me the key is to evaluate the condition more than the hours. Yanmars were especially well built, and can easily last twice that long - or longer with decent use.

If looking at that 755 I'd want to run it around for half an hour or so and see how it responds. However it works for half an hour is probably exactly how it is going to work for you for years - if you work it within it's size capacity.

Yes, it will easily run an auger; my 650 did. But the auger has to be the shorter kind in keeping with the small tractor's 3pt lift height.
good luck,
