Grappling fun - A Picture Thread....

I think PISTON started a GREAT thread here... The pics are awesome and the info/stories VERY helpful/entertaining...

I read Piston's original rules (no arguing about which grapple is better)...

I have a new KUBOTA L4701DT and I am trying to decide on the SIZE grapple... The tractor comes with a 72" bucket but I am not sure what size grapple is best (60"/66"/72")... I am leaning towards a 66" (with additional/removable) tines and double lid... You can prolly deduce that I am looking at the EA grapples but I am also looking at/negotiating with others... I will gladly take any OEM recommendations you want to pass along but please let's not argue about it...

I will be using this machine/equipment (taming the land) in New Hampshire/Maine/Tennessee/Florida...

I have a L3700 and have a "light duty" single lid Titan type grapple with a rock bucket base. It's 72" wide and I thought I needed one this wide at first. In reality, I could have gotten by with a 60" single lid just fine. IMO, get the smallest and lightest one you can use for your needs. A lighter bucket allows you to pick up more debris. And the hydr grapple power is more than effective enough to pick up whatever you can fit in it

I hear Ya... Thank YOU... I'm inclined to agree... Appreciate the forward-thinking/candor/truth/HELP... I have high expectations for ALL my implements... I simply cannot afford to make (too many) mistakes... MUCH obliged... I will post my results/pics...

Apparently some of the grapple OEMs are VERY busy, almost to the point of over-stressing their resources, it seems... Evidently there is a run on these implements (perhaps due to the latest hurricanes/storms)...

This is probably right. But it could also be due to Piston's now-epic thread. :)

Went through the same thought process for my Kioti NX4510HST Cab (72" bucket). Finally decided on a 60" dual lid, rather than a 66" or 72". After a year of use, that's turned out to be the ideal size for me. Some of my work is in the woods, so the narrower width has been an advantage for nosing into tight places and grabbing stuff. Also requires less force to push into the earth, e.g., when cutting roots and trying to get under small stumps and trees. Just a couple more things to think about.

MUCH appreciate YOUR input/experience... Thank you... At least I am in the ball-park...

Maintain course/speed...
