Now that we have a [little] tractor to move them with, we put them on the burn pile instead [of leaving them in the woods]..

We have a perpetual burn pile that we stack on year around and burn in the fall/ spring and don't worry how many burns it takes before the stumps are gone.

So far its been a great logging/general purpose grapple. The extension teeth and rock plate are a must for it though.

I like really your grapple xc !! I am wondering why the extension teeth are a must. What kind of troubles did you have w/o them ?? Thanks.

Another toy for Luke. That will be good for moving some of those big rocks around with too.

Xc, I think we have the same grapple but I think/thought it is maybe 50% bigger than the frostbite I have seen. (Or maybe my memory sucks!)

Gordon, you are exactly right, I hope to use it mostly for rock. I have considered putting two rows of 3/8 chain between the bottom forks to act as a basket for smaller rocks. I know you can get a piece of flat steel to go between the lower fork tips but was thinking chains might be more versatile and less obstructive when grubbing. Any thoughts?

Gordon, you are exactly right, I hope to use it mostly for rock. I have considered putting two rows of 3/8 chain between the bottom forks to act as a basket for smaller rocks. I know you can get a piece of flat steel to go between the lower fork tips but was thinking chains might be more versatile and less obstructive when grubbing. Any thoughts?

That is asking a lot

Try the chain thing - cheap enough. Might want some cross chains. Maybe that is what you meant by a basket. I am just guessing but I think something with spaced out teeth would be better than a smooth plate. Teeth seem to catch on irregular small rocks pretty well. Seems like the plate would work if you could get under them w/o just pushing them forward or on roundish rocks. Then again maybe it would be fine. Duh !

Yeah, I do remember their being a GR40 and a GR20. The one I have is a GR40. Perhaps the frostbite is a GR20? I'm not sure. But I do really like this grapple for logs and brush
