I finally decided on the EA wicked grapple and really happy I did!

It's about 275 lbs. with the slats in. I use about 400 lbs of ballast with it.

I tried using older logs for the timbers. I did use 2 trees that I recently cut down but those had to go anyways. I am using all white oak for posts and pine for the wall. I'm hoping to get 10 years out of the pine but not so sure.

This is an older log that was sitting in the woods, the sap wood was in bad shape but all the heartwood was really nice.
I couldn't lift the log without any weight on the back, so had to go put something on the back to get this one out of the woods.
