71°F and .08 Passing showers

I see where I didn’t hit the Reply button yesterday. Guess that was result of a panicky call from Sophie that she couldn’t get back inside the gate. Battery gone bad in opener. Got her in and that took the focus of the morning.
Happy Hour in afternoon up at neighbors.

Off to HD this morning as decision yesterday was to add a man gate.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

85F and supposedly mostly cloudy @ 13:30 but it sure looked mighty sunny out there to me. That should be the high temp for the day but we will see. Low this morning was 54.4F.

Refilled hopper and both tube feeders yesterday, also scattered some seed for the ground feeders.

Meds did not get doled out yesterday so that will need done today.

Did get deer netting on the southern perimeter of the garden unhooked and pulled up where the grass had grown through it. Still need to gather that up today.

More work done on post holes, including a good amount with the digging bar. Slow progress though.

Measured the length of the 12" auger ... it's only 36" ... so that looks like it will be the maximum depth ... except maybe for the post holes on the east side which might be close to 48" ... if I back fill that area so that area is level with the rest of the garden. Not clear if or when that will happen.

Think I have a total of 12 post holes I'm currently working on, with at least 4 holes that are drilled to full depth.

Water Buffalo emptied and then refilled on slow flow.

I believe 8 holes got 2 gallons each yesterday and were left overnight to soak in.

There is some question as to the cutting edges on the 12" auger as to whether or not they are worn down which might be the reason some of the holes are so difficult to drill.

Will see how it goes today and if no improvement, a trip to TSC for replacement cutting edges might be in my future.

Picked some of the Honey Baby winter squash:

IMG_3865 copy.jpg

These need washed off then I think I'll put them in the little greenhouse in the dining room to finish curing since it gets pretty warm during the day.

There are still more out there, some of which haven't even started to ripen and are completely green.

Took garbage up to the cans at the road but not recyclables as the last task of the day.

This morning Amazon dropped a new set of small pruning scissors to replace the cheapo's The Woman picked up at Walmart. They are Fiskars ... so hopefully they will hold up a little better:

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.5C and it's presently 16.5C, fairly clear with strong to gusting wind. There was 3.0mm in the gauge @0900.

Well, it's 'into town' day for groceries. But first will be a stop at the PO, a stop at the local bakery for some long rolls and then a visit to the hardware store = it being Spring my wood decking is looking very sad and there's a sale on for cleaning/staining products.

That's about it, take care all.

Good evening 87˚ after sunset. FireWise went well, hot but no injuries and no lost or found glasses. Costco came through with the new glasses today. Watering is on the agenda every evening till we get some rain, best chance 30% next Tuesday. Hope you had a restful night Drew.

The weather pattern we are all in is not conducive to any long term rain solutions. As far as winter too early to tell lost of crazy predictions doubtful they occur. If winter is predicted on amount of acorns we will have a 100 feet of snow

Glad you got property ArlyA, Drew hope back gets better soon without reconstruction.

Those traveling enjoy safe enjoyable trips

Prayers for all our Country

Morning all, 62 to 82 and sunny.
Did some watering, then tried to start my sons Jeep and it was dead.
I left a charger on there overnight, might be time for a new battery, probably original to 2011.
Dinner was fine. Before we left we gave the dog a bath, hot weather and thick fur...

The new neighbor uphill has a rooster and a few doors down has a rooster. We barely hear them unless outside. Neighbors dogs bark a lot, but they do take them in at night and rarely too early on weekends. Our dog rarely barks.
Biggest noise here is our neighbor going back/forth in a helicopter, but they don't buzz our house anymore and the hours are reasonable. Usually once every week or so.

Be well,
I'm so old....I can remember when a battery was under the front hood/bonnet.
Hope son is doing well. I tell my student workers "Your parents and you are spending a lot of money, school should be #3 !" ...."Git yer homework done!!!"

We have Blackhawk helicopters flying over quite a bit lately. Used to be on Thursdays at dusk to an hour past dark. Maybe they are training for something? Fortunately, they haven't buzzed the house since about a year ago.

Speaking of flying, anyone with DJI drones might need to pay attention to some rules coming down the pipeline about video/photography.

Rip, that's a lot of splitting. I'll bet your "guns" are growing....or growing tired...

back went pop yesterday and I'm not doing well, taking some bufferin and need to cool it today.
I'm sure my CT scan on Thursday will show a battlefield in my lower back. Multiple herniated discs, blockage, all stuff
I already know but I've been holding off as long as possible. the bone spurs inside my hip ball and socket are a new issue
think I need a bunch of parts
but unless Thomas was at at the parts store,
don't think I'd go... ;)
Drew, take it easy. Hope for some relief.

Phil, great woodwork/art !

Ron, get mended and thank you for the pics.

Pop, gs looks like he'd make a good manager in that hammock. Hope the floor drain lid holds up. I don't put much stock into PLA under stress.

At school, we train students in metallic materials with a Tinnius Olsen tensile tester. I make standard coupons out of 1018CR and they break them. It takes about 21K pounds of tension force to break a 1/2" diameter actually .504" diameter is what they are for spec. Makes a good "jump scare" when they break.
The unit has a 15" hydraulic ram, so do the math on that at 2500 psi. Good for 120,000 to 140,000 if you need it. They do a stress/strain graph, and have to measure the distance of stretch by putting the 2 halves back together and measuring some pre pull marks they make on the coupon. This is all part of our "hands on" program. They get to actually participate somewhat.

Having to scratch the dust off of my brain for our Mitutoyo coordinate measuring machine. It has been a long time since I've had to program/check any parts. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. I'll bet PJS could do it in his sleep. There are a handful of videos on YT that are decent, I need to watch and practice. The problem is....too many different machines and systems...all different. Of course, our software is really old and has a fatal glitch if the machine sits idle for too long.

Son and his tennis team got whooped by a team with a lot of coaches and support. This is my son's first year that he is playing fall and spring. He's getting better but he needs more and better coaching, just not from me.

Prayers for peace around the world, and for our team here.

Scotty looks good. Weren't you going to just buy a FEW trex boards?

ArlyA, hope the camp works out.

TxDon, I guess the farm is ran by the people from Austin. Even my sister commented on how people look in Austin while we were eating at a cafe in an upscale grocery store near downtown Austin. And she's been around the world many a time.

Took the yamaha out for a sunset tour on some back country roads. Had 1 young buck run out in front of me.

I just sent in a report on the status of our equipment in our program. They seem to be looking hard at it. It would cost them close to $1 million to replace all the stuff that is old/antiquated/problematic. It has been 2 days and I still have a job.

Watch out for those furry things Thomas.

Bought a new but cheap Sansui 24" monitor off of Amazon for $86. Problem is I find out it is HDMI, so I need a Display Port to HDMI cable. Amazon is my friend for that.

It has been almost 2 weeks since my 1st Shingles shot and I STILL have a welp on my arm where they stuck me. Also got flu on other arm. Both arms were really sore for a couple/few days. Shingles welp still has redness and sore to a rub. They say that is the body fighting/learning.

No, they live in Georgetown. The family lived in the barn on the "farm" after the first flood years ago. They had to sell their house to keep the farm afloat. 2 years ago they moved closer to the schools to Georgetown. They have two boys and a girl. She is the human resource manager and handles all personal, about a hundred people during the Fall Festival, her husband is always working on the farm. They are very hard working and are easy to work for.

Good evening all. 67ºF for the start, partly cloudy sky, light breeze. Light wind, afternoon build ups, and high temp was 93ºF, HI 96ºF. Made coffee to start day, Grief Share, bike ride, mow front yard, didn't get done and cleaned up to go to bike shop. Did get nap in. Forecast now for 3/4 inch over four days.
RayIN welcome to the GM thread, thanks for the plowing link.
Ron so one of the staples came out on it's own? Glad staple removal went well. Not a bad price for diesel. Nice unusual attitude on feeder.

Drew hope you find back belt.
Frits glad large file test was successful. Hope infusion for wife went well. Glad scam didn't get you.
David sorry Sophie's opener battery went bad. Hope HH went better. Hope man gat add in goes well.
RS hope you got deer netting got gather up, and progress on post holes. Hope you can get the replacement cutting edges. Thanks for pic of Honey Baby squash. I have good luck with Fiskars stuff.
Thomas glad good day at work and good putter afternoon.
Randy(wag) hope good town run.
Don Hope you get rain soon. Glad no glasses lost or injuries on Firewise. Glad new glasses in.
Buppies hope outlook for rain improves. Not much in the way of acorns here.
Kyle part of the reason to move batteries out of engine compartment was because of higher heat levels in the compartment. First job out of college was testing incoming material. They "liked" it when I ran the tensile test. What gauge length do you run? Good luck with Mitutoyo CMM. Sorry son's team got whooped.
Kyle glad you still have jab after delivering report on equipment status. Sorry about your reaction to the shots.
NHBX thanks for link.

Coffee is brewing. 50° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with plenty of sun. Got up in the attic. Found duct for bedroom and took it apart. Did not find anything wrong. Checked next vent over. It's baffle was all the way open stealing all the air from bedroom. Adjusted so that both vents get the same heat. After putting everything back the way it belongs. Got mower out and cut front grass. Lots of brown spots. Today will start cleaning siding on garage.

57 and drizzle going to 67 and more welcomed rain. At home we were pushing an inch in the gauge, and got more overnight.

Ended up taking Della to the mountains yesterday despite the rain and wind forecast. Got wind, but no rain until driving home.

Surprised how much Autumn color was painting the trees.

good morning all
long night, back slowly calming down
hot shower this morning helped but not doing so well.
ordered a new back belt online which should come in today, that might help.

spent all yesterday in bed reading, bored, want to get moving but not today anyway.
I have to go to hospital to pick up barium drink for tomorrow's CT, and then tonight have reservations
for dinner in Doylestown. Trying hard not to make my back worse so I can get through the day.
took some more bufferin, trying to avoid anything stronger. Next step up is tylenol with codeine.

weather system going up the coast is bringing showers and cooler weather today

Ron, good catch on the vents. I should do that here, living room 77 in sun while bedroom is 68.
combo of ancient insulation and probably vents all out of wack; one in bedroom is behind a heavy dresser, unlikely
to get to that any time soon. Thankfully I can just turn some regular fans on and the temps equalize a lot better.
1100sf cottage with small rooms, not a lot of air flow

hope we get a little rain today, pretty dry out and I need to water the gardens.

here's something for RNG and possibly a few others of you who have late model Toyotas.
remember those giants screens in cars, well Toyota's foot long screen is going blank on folks.
and they apparently aren't quite sure yet how to fix it.
And theirs is tiny compared to the three footers.

LED screen repair should be one of Kyle's courses...am sure the college will give him a new Cadillac Lyriq to "test" the screen...

Good Morning,
Ct, 56 to start going to 72. Still kind of dark but it’s cloudy with rain showers coming in later this afternoon.

I did manage to get the lawn mowed after getting home yesterday afternoon. Most of the lawn is fairly green considering we didn’t get much rain in the last couple of weeks. Had a quick dinner and headed out to the Community Center for my German class, 6 to 7 pm. The to the FD for our weekly drill. Home just after 9 and pretty tired by then.

Billy, beautiful pictures of your hike with Della, beautiful scenery. 😉

Scotty looks good. Weren't you going to just buy a FEW trex boards?
Kyle, between both decks there were a total of 80 grooved boards and probably about 10 square edged boards for the perimeter. I hauled all of the from Ct to Vt so ended up being quite a job. But at least it’s done 🙏

I’m studying for my Amateur Extra and hope to take the test this coming Saturday. I think I can do it and pass but a lot of material to cover. 🙏

Hope all have a great day 🙏
