I don't know why tofu has such a bad reputation, Bill. It pretty much has no taste at all, so you can flavor it with any number of spices and yummy things. However, I'd like to avoid having to cook a meal at lunch time; just wanna pull stuff out of the 'fridge and serve it on a plate...

Tofu goes nice in Hot and Sour soup, but that is about it for me.

OK Kyle I can see why that would be the first suspect. Be carful with all the protein additives/supplements. Why would you think they are needed? ???

"Okay, so what is the perfect food for human beings that has been fine-tuned over millions of years to contain the perfect amount of protein just for us?

Human breast milk.

“If high-quality protein was the ‘nutrient among nutrients’” that helped us build our big brains over the last few million years, “one would expect that importance to be resoundingly reflected in the composition of human breast milk,” especially because infancy is the time of our most rapid growth. But this is patently not the case. “In fact, human breast milk is one of the lowest-protein milks in the mammalian world…” Indeed, it may have the lowest protein concentration of any animal in the world, at less than 1 percent protein by weight. This is one of the reasons why feeding straight cow’s milk to babies can be so dangerous. And, although the protein content in human milk has been described as extremely low, it’s exactly where it needs to be—at the natural, normal level for the human species, fine-tuned over millions of years.

ALL: very sad about Kobe Bryant and his daughter and the other 3 that crashed this morning in his helicopter.

we've had raccoons in our neighborhood for years and the last couple years i'm not sure why exactly, but thinking the raccoons are very hungry and turning up our lawns to get grubs or bugs. they've done this to my front lawn several times a couple years ago until I dug it up, removed about a 1000 crane fly larva and grubs and now the raccoons are bugging the neighbors. anybody else have this happen to them? the first picture is the neighbor's new lawn they put in last spring after they finished building their new home. my sod was 7 years old and some before and after pics.

Woe, your raccoons must be related to our feral pigs.

Spent quite a bit of time today reading about the SOS diet, which strives to eliminate Salt, Oil, and Sugar. Then contrasted that with a low oxalate diet, which is what I've been sticking to to reduce the chances of recurring kidney stones. But the two seem mutually exclusive, especially when it comes to protein sources. Beans, nuts, and soy are good sources of plant protein, but they're also excellent sources of oxalate. Animal protein is oxalate free, but high in fat (oils). 1000mg of calcium per day can ameliorate some of the oxalate, but most plant sources of calcium are also high in oxalate, so the net effect is negative. Animal sources of calcium are high in sugar and fat (oil). Kale and butter squash are exceptions, but aren't much help with protein. :confused2: :confused2: :confused2:

And now this. Not likely to find Human Breast Milk in the dairy case at WalMart, or even Whole Foods, eh?

Maybe the safest food to eat turns out to be no food at all?

Or just eat whatever the He11 you want, 'cause some health zealot is bound to declare whatever you pick as the worst thing in the world for you. But at least you'll die happy...

Good morning, temp 25°F, high 28. Wind NNW 15 gusting to 21 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

We got 1/2" of snow overnight.

Yesterday I cleaned up all the snowbanks and windrows on all 4 places I do. I did take a video, but my phone lost it.

Diet wise, I eat whatever I want, just not as much of it. I can and have gone through two family sized bags of chips in one sitting. Now I can make one bag last 2 days. Instead of eating 2 sweet potatoes at one meal, now I can make a meal out of one large potato.

30 going to 51 and sunny.

Never saw damage like that from coons. The skunks made dozens, maybe hundreds, of 3 ' diameter holes that look like funnels looking for grubs and seeds. The opossums grab and bunch up the seed hulls and dirt under the feeders, so it is easy to know when they've visited. Both the possums and coons will take the feeders off the hooks, but only the coons seem to figure out how to open them sometimes. Had 2 coons and 2 possums take turns walking in front of the game cam Saturday night.

Got the first load of lightning wood split and stacked. Burned a few pieces and sure enough had some sparking. I'll go back and pick up the rest of what I cut when the ground freezes again, or sooner if I get tired of waiting.
