The lady that was here presenting for the womens day at church yesterday, her 2 sons teach at the college my sons went to, and my youngest had her son as a professor for a class... Small world.
I'm prepping for class tonight.
No deck work, but both orders of Joist tape came yesterday. Amazon was way late on shipping the first order, and they still say it might come by the 29th, even though it came yesterday. Think USPS lost track of things, again..... I already have a return started on it.
Pressure washer surface cleaner came today, want to try it on the front porch.
Cooler out today, and still breezy. Strong winds last night.

Today is shad fest in town.
Very few people actually eat these (very large )fish, but they are here and were a good sign that the river was getting cleaner.
Been a yearly tradition for 42 years.
Wife and her friends are there today.

Shad:
They are an anadromous fish, which means they are born in freshwater, like the Delaware River, live for several years in the ocean and return to the river in which they were born to spawn (lay their eggs).
I was told that to properly cook shad -
Nail it to a white oak slab, roast in oven at medium until it flakes, remove from oven.
Carefully remove shad from board. Eat the board.
/edit - use the cooked shad to fertilize corn

newbury, that recipe is well known here...

stopped at light on return drive home, heard two powerful motorcycles come up beside me.
Knew it wasn't a Harley, different sound, very mechanical. One bike was a Ducati, one an Aprilia.
no idea of models but the engine sound of them taking off was mechanical music.

I'm off to 'set up' in about a half hour. Guests/polling-assistances arriving later today and will be staying with me 'til Friday.

It's going to be a long week.

That's about it, take care all.

Back from our first camping trip of the year. Nice place, first time camping there. We booked for next year on the way out. Got home around 1, unloaded camper, got cart off truck, and hoe'd the garden. That's enough for today.

I finally got something accomplished. Took down the tell tale lights for the tractor block heater. Set up the steps for the oil guy to fill my tank. 9 concrete blocks, set up 6 on bottom and three on top. Puts the fill slop box at waist height. Greased tractor. Moved some of the remaining snow pile into the sunny part of the driveway and flattened it out. All gone now. Did all this in a T-shirt.

I finally figured it out, my youngest tom cat is Jewish. He doesn't have anything to do with pork. If he knows ahead of time that we are having pork, he doesn't even bother to come to the table to mooch like the old queen and 1 year younger tom do.
Yes I feed my cats off the table IF I know that what I am eating wont hurt them.

Good Afternoon,
Just a parting shot of what my neighbor will be mowing with that 4 ft mower and 20 hp. He will have plenty of seat time that’s for sure 😂 you don’t even see all of the property from where I took the picture on my north hedge row 😉
Here's a question for all of you guys, and there are many factors.....
I only have a 6' mower for 24+ acres, open cab, and I've been cutting it since 2002. Anyway, I've had my fill of seat time for mowing.
Still have to do other chores that I don't mind so much. Been having to repair hydraulic cylinders plenty lately....have another that is dripping now.

I have played in bands there several times over the years, usually very large crowds, lots of street vendors. Haven’t been there in many years though.
