8°. And heat not keeping up.
Pellet stove humming away, but downstairs unit reading 62°? Haven’t gotten out of blankets to investigate.
Upstairs thermostat says 64°, I manually turned on em heat. It should fire up automatically, not sure why it isn’t. Put electric heater in oldest son’s room and room his girlfriend is in.
Should get warmer today.
Calling for freezing rain tomorrow.

Good Morning
.9° this morning, and clear. At least it’s above 0. High of 25 predicted with snow tomorrow.

Yesterday I finished setting up the new welder and tested it out. I think I’m really going to like it, even from the try, it ran a great bead on some 3/8 hot rolled bar scraps, using the suggested settings. I gave my old MIG machine (Hobart 140) to my mechanical contractor buddy. It was a good machine but didn’t have enough power for anything over 3/16.

Oldest son brought his wife’s car up to change a headlight bulb in the heated shop after getting frustrated out in the cold. Turns out that the headlight assembly was an aftermarket (late model the he bought used with low mileage) and apparently had some collision damage. CARFAX is not a bad thing to check when buying used. At any rate the bulb did not reliably make contact with the assembly. Ended up removing it and reworking it to make it work. Actually there was nothing wrong with the original bulb.

Took the Carryall to the woodshed for another load of firewood, we are enjoying the fireplace. Definitely gonna have a fire today.

Did get to the hangar and got the little plane out, it looks pretty festive with lights and a wreath.

A nice view of the sunset on a clear evening.

It is an interesting learning curve with the radiant heat in a 6” slab. There is a lot of mass involved, and considerable hysteresis. The place is very tight and well insulated, so when the wife was baking all day, the sun was shining, and a fire burning, the boiler never ran, and the temperature was above the set point. After the sun sets, the oven is turned off, and the fire goes out, and the thermostats finally call for heat, it take hours to raise the floor temperature. When we woke up around 5, the temperature was still a degree or two below the set point, depending on which room. The anticipation isn’t dialed in yet, so I’m pretty sure that it will overshoot the set point. There is an outdoor temperature sensor that lets the boiler compensate for cold vs warm days, and I’m still tweaking that curve.

Today will start off delivering some of the stuff that my wife has been baking, with some stops for shopping (like HF and the welding supply), then hopefully chill in front of the fire with the wife.

Good morning, the low is 14 and going to a high of 25°F. Wind SSE 12 mph. The snow is just starting. They are still talking 4". On top of the inch I didn't bother to plow.

I will take a look at the accumulation around 9 and again at noon, then make a decision regarding plowing. The block heater will get turned on about 3 hours before I go out to plow. There is a 'risk' of freezing rain sometime after midnight. At 14 overnight and 19 tomorrow, somehow I don't think there will be any freezing rain. Time will tell.

An energy conservation day until I have to go out and plow.

Have a safe day all

Got all bundled up to do morning chores outside...then came in and unbundled, but remembered that I needed something from truck. Decided to just tough it out with a quick jog to the truck...crazy how fast 16F will chill you, even without wind.

Rip, glad you had a great day...seems like you were owed one or two.

Thomas, hope Boo okay and comes back.

Looks like church in Fedor TX.
ding ding ding winner winner chicken dinner! Good memory Ron. Within eyesight of Don's parents' place.

Ron right, Fedor Church, I have put up those lights many times. Thanks for the pic Kyle.
Welcome, I saw it on FB and loved it.

Morning. Lows have been in the upper 20's, highs in the upper 50's. Should be near 60 for Christmas day..... that's just not right.... I remember a Christmas day back in the early 1990's that hit 72°. That really didn't seem right.....

No precipitation/moisture for over 36 days now. The drought monitor is creeping up....

Please keep us in your prayers...and some extras too.
Dona is not doing well. I'm not sure if she'll make it to Christmas without going back into the hospital (which she is refusing to do right now). She wants to be here with family.

It's gotten to the point where the pain meds aren't working. She got up this morning for maybe 45 minutes and is back in bed.

I don't know what else to write.....

Everyone have a great day!
Thank you for sharing. We are praying.

Primeweld MIG 285. No fume extraction.
I’ve been very happy and impressed with Primeweld. I also have their TIG225 and Cut 60. I use the plasma cutter with a CNC table, all of their equipment has exceeded my expectations.
You gonna weld bulldozer tracks to a battleship? :) I saw on the link that they are backordered thru Jan 25th ?

My wife woke me up with something this morning.

While we agree'd to not say anything for the first 3 months, all of her friends knew by lunch. Including my mother.

So why not, one more jewsian to the mix.

Up to 12°
Both geo units have gone up by 1°
Turned pellet stove up, room still 69°.
Frost on ground looks like snow.

Guess the kiddos will sleep in. Son’s girlfriend said, yes, that’s a long drive.
Pebbles too scared to come up from basement to eat. She’s been very skiddish lately.

Yeah, me too. Been to the doc's over the years because I am always cold around this time of year. They say I have no issues. Ok. But I am always cold. Hands are like ice right now. Wearing two sweat shirts. LOL. I guess it is just the way I am wired....and the season. Seems over time this area has lost the four seasons, seems any day can be what it wants to be, and not what the season calls for.

Or maybe it is just favorable memories passing with time....all I know is it is cold right now.

Have a better day, Buppies!

Not that I know about now, but MIG has spoiled me, I still have a big old Miller 300 amp TIG welder that I use for stick welding now, it’s just a pain to drag the cables out and chip slag when I needed more oomph.
I was lucky, I ordered about a month ago, and got it on Saturday. Apparently the preorders wiped out the shipment they got in.

Good Morning To All who Celebrate! 10 degrees and a thick layer of frost this morning. Little late to work because of it, at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Thanks all for the birthday well wishes!

Did lots of wood at the Firewood Processing Session on Saturday. Several dead red oaks fed through the 6 way on the Rugged Made. Absolutely perfect sized 16" to 26" around, straight grain, no knots. When it's that smooth, it takes several guys just to keep up with the wood coming out. We put up about a cord and a half, as well as a pickup load for one of the helpers. As long as it doesn't stay sub-arctic temps, they should have enough wood to last until at least February. I told the homeowner that I'm more than happy to come help whenever it's needed. This was the handyman I used to work for when I was a younger, dumber individual. He took a chance on me when he didn't have to and was always kind and generous, so I have no qualms with donating my time and equipment to help him and his wife. Especially since they keep feeding us like this:

Sister sent me this pic of my nephew, the stocking he's resting on is the same one my mother brought me home from the hospital in, 32 years ago now. Very much looking forward to seeing him at Christmas. Girlfriend sent some clothes for him and I have a stuffed New Holland Forage Harvester to go with the Combine he already has. Gotta start the tractor addiction young :)

All who are ailing or struggling, please know you are in my prayers. Know the Good Morning Crew is always here to listen, advice and offer prayers and any assistance possible. It might be my favorite thing about this site. :)

This has officially dragged on long enough.
Y'all stay safe out there, be well and Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

Good morning! 57˚F heading to the 70s, about 10 ˚ warmer than yesterday. S winds, partly cloudy.

Yesterday was my last scheduled day at the Adventure farm this year and it was a good one. Happy people were waiting for me at the two stops instead of me waiting. I like it busy. I did a lot of extra stops to accommodate their needs since we were not overly crowded.

There are no festivals during January so I'm off for a while till February when the baby animals arrive and the tulips they planted last week come into bloom. Next November will also be the first time they start selling the five year old Christmas trees. they now have about 7-10 thousand planted. The strawberries fields are looking good for the Spring also.
Even though I haven't been to the Adventure farm, I have to say it seems to have people with imaginative minds coming up with things to do. It takes a lot of money and planning to put together a tree farm, orchards, strawberry farm, tulip farm..etc... I guess they are closed thru Christmas? Hope it stays busy.

Prayers for Fuddy and wifey, LS and Dona, Buppies and Holly.

I'm also praying the electricity doesn't go out on you folks up in the extreme cold. I know most of your systems depend on power. The ruskys have knocked out a lot of Ukraine's grid, and it is extremely cold.

David, seems to be a miracle for everything to come together for the car deal to go that smoothly. Hope the Subaru works well for y'all.

I see where Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi motors are attempting a merge. Hope they keep making some petrol cars.

I took my son to practice tennis yesterday. It was a breezy 66F. Perfect. I don't get around like I used to. He's in desperate need of practice, since he hasn't really played since last March. Rusty to say the least. Need to buy some more grip tape, new balls, and maybe one of those ball baskets. I need to study up on coaching techniques. He understands putting top spin on the ball, but many of the 9th graders revert to "tap tap" play and it changes the dynamics of returning a good swing vs a good top spin speedier volley. So he needs to be ready for both.

Planning to drive south a couple hours to visit mom and friends today.

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 6:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun this morning, then becoming foggy and damp this afternoon. High 67F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Looks like a damp trip to the coast, with wind, surf, and small craft warings in effect. Should make it interesting. Packing the rain gear just in case everyone decides to hike along the beach anyway. The waves may decide that for us.

Only Xmas gift that hasn't arrived yet is an Applebee's gift card for the mail lady. It was ordered more than a week ago, and seems to be stuck in the mail somewhere. Kind of ironic, huh?

Hope everyone's ready for the big holiday, and the weather cooperates. Gonna be a short week...

Morning all, 7 going up to 28 and sunny, ok, for here that's cold.
Dog did not seem to mind. Deer look like puff balls in their thicker winter coats.

Cleanup yesterday and puttered around.

Prayers for the MRs. Fuddy, hope you recover quick too,

Congrats Fatjay !

Be well,
