good morning, 72 going to 89 not as warm as predicted earlier

More tree planting work yesterday. Broke a grease fitting on the mower so will have to see if it needs drilling and Easy Out.

Ron my brother had his 77 birthday yesterday

The proprietary diagnostic tool by the auto mfg are very expensive and comes with a hefty monthly subscription fee'
Not sure about tractors but in my case on the sprinter got a factory clone set up all loaded on a laptop with all the MB models. When connecting is searches by the vin number and connects to the right model vehicle

Good morning! 75˚F heading to only the upper 80s with sufficient cloud cover from the Gulf. A constant light rain yesterday totaled .75" , Kyle strained out the clouds before sending them my way. Yesterday the wood floor man came by and did a touchup on a scratch the movers made on the newly finished bedroom floor. The Movers gladly paid for the repair but more importantly and the repair passed the wife test - approved!

Hopefully with this morning's coolness I can put the attic items in the attic that are in the garage. Wife also wants to start hanging pictures. No discomfort from biopsy this morning I don't need the pain pills anymore. A Costco trip is needed also.

Our neighbor is throwing us a welcome party Saturday to meet the rest of the people on our street. They have all been very nice, stopping to talk with me when I'n working in the yard.

I have a tablet based tool that has most all vehicles from all continents in it that I used on my buddy’s sprinter to force a regen and clear the codes. So far it has worked very well identifying issues with airbags, ABS, etc. it will program keys, even adjust mileage.

A lot of new products have been introduced since I got mine. This looks like a good model for a reasonable price.
One advantage of the factory clone is it is loaded with repair information including drawings, photos and instructions for each problem identified

Morning all, 76 going to 94 and sunny.
Dog walk in town in the morning, some errands and afternoon in the pool.
Passed by a neighbor who has a company doing his haying.

Fixed leak on new sprayer. Needed a real washer, not the hard plastic one already installed.
Nice to just drive around on the lawn tractor watering stuff.

Be well,

yesterday met a guy cutting hay that was interested in cutting our fields. I will use him for backup if not able to mowe it for some reason

Also took down several overhanging large branches that wife had requested down because they were putting her bushes in danger. Was able to grab them with the excavator up high and pull them away from her bushes and tear them off. 6 to 8 inch size had to reposition a few times to get leverage Also ripped up the stumps so no more problems from that side. Interestingly the AC on the excavator makes it super cold even in this heat. Had to turn it way down.

Prayers for all silent or spoken our Country
I hope my lot is growing slow now, might be awhile before I get back down.

weather station app says we did hit 90 deg yesterday, was in 80s everytime I looked. 81deg now.
got up late. was going to clip tomatoes to the trellis before it got hot, but missed that chance. maybe at dusk.
Have a zoom DR appointment later. Need to do costco run either after my DR video, or in the morning.

can't beat having good neighbors. I have the best neighbor anyone could possibly have. That's nice of them to have the party.

Already 88F and sunny @ 11:15, DP 68F, HU 55%, feels like 96F. Calling for an actual high of 92F for the day.

A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible ... and would certainly be welcome.

Should have left the AC running up in the shop last night when I finished up. Need to get up there and turn it on.

Woman fixed me a couple of BLT's for dinner last night after She got back ... which was very much appreciated.

After dinner Her and I headed up to the shop and pulled the ROPS, sitting it on top of the fuel tanks leaning up against the seat.

After that we came back down and I got the last 2 eggplants planted and the SD card re-installed in the game cam.

Should have been only 9 eggplant but several were "doubles" so there's like maybe 12 total. I didn't bother to try and separate them as they were too large to easily pull apart.

As I suspected ROPS removal gave me enough clearance to remove the valve cover bolts and do the valve adjustment.

There was one bolt however that was really difficult to remove due to lack of clearance - had to use an undersize Torx bit (T27 vs T30) ... so I could cock the bit at an angle to get it into the bolt to unscrew it.

Got the valve adjustment all done - several valves were pretty loose and only 1 was near the spec (0.004" - 0.006")

Set all of them to 0.005" (go), 0.006" (no go), got the set screws tightened for the adjustment nuts and clearances and torque checked twice.

Checked the gap on the spark plugs and put those back in and torqued them down to spec after applying a little anti-seize on the threads.

Then cleaned up the mating surfaces on the head with a little Scotchbrite pad.

The valve covers on this engine are the composite ones which use an o-ring for the seal to the head so there really wasn't much to clean up on the heads.

Reinstalled the left valve cover and got it torqued down but there was that one bolt on the right valve cover that has the clearance issue.

Got it removed but getting it put back in is problematic and is going to require a modification to the frame to remove some material so that I can get the bolt in the hole and then get the proper sized Torx bit on it to torque it down.

Got out the right angle die grinder and a 8" rotary burr ... and that was where I left things around 02:00.

Figured I was tired and could use some sleep before diving in and hacking on the frame.

Was going to just reuse the old o-rings for the valve covers but it looks like they aren't that expensive ... so if they have them in stock at the mower shop I may run down there and pick them up and go ahead and replace them ... mainly because I don't want to have to pull the ROPS again to replace them if the old ones don't seal.

Once I get the valve adjustment all buttoned up, I'll probably move the MoJack up to the shop and get it out of the garage and install the sharpened set of blades I have sitting up there.

Got to get moving now as I'm sure it ain't getting any cooler.

Happy (belated) birthday to Ron !

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday ... (y)
