53F and mostly cloudy @ 14:45, that's above the 51F that WU was calling for.

Two days with 70F+ highs showing in the Ten Day, one of them sunny ... (y)

Got Amazon order placed yesterday, all items currently out on the truck for delivery today.

Ran out to Home Depot yesterday afternoon for some bone meal for planting the caladiums. It appears that Home Depot is discontinuing Espoma products for Burpee ... :(

Local Home Depot was out of the Espoma bone meal (4 lbs for just under $8) ... although the Fairlawn store had a bunch in stock but I wasn't going to drive twice the distance to get it.

Instead bought the Burpee's product (just under $9 for 3 lbs)

And the ziplock closure on the Burpee's bag was garbage ...

Gee, thanks Home Depot !

Heavy wet snow coming down right as I left the house, but had quit by the time I got down to the cheap fuel stations in The Lakes.

Filled Woman's car up (it was near empty, light on) and got 5 gallons of diesel in the can for the torpedo heater.

Weirdos were out and about ...

After I got back I refilled the torpedo heater and started working on potting the caladiums and pansies.

Got 2 caladiums along with 8 pansies potted in 2 of those square pots. Will finish up the other two pots today.

Woman was feeling a little out of sorts the past couple of days, probably due to HBP or the vaccination She got for pneumonia the other day. Doctor jacked up Her HBP meds to 2x and She is feeling much better today.

Hopper feeder due for a refill today so I'll do that before I start on the potting.

Tallest tomato seedlings are 2"+, a little more germination on the broccoli and cabbage, not much change on the others:

IMG_3148 copy.jpg

Left the clear plastic cover off those to try and avoid anything damping off. Following a recommendation I read: once 60% of seeds germinate and come up then pull cover and leave off to avoid the fungi ... seems to be working so far.

Located the other issue on the armoire: looks like the backer board broke where one of the staples was. Should be an easy fix.

Other than filling that hopper feeder unsure what else is on the agenda for the day.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

I am just trying to juggle and maintain. If and when I get rid of the day jobs, then I can do stuff even slower but with more - perfection.
Great Mantra! POTD.

Good Morning in the afternoon. Been a very nice day so far with plenty of sunshine and some nice breezes. In the 80's today. So we need some breeze.

Prayers it heals completely and no problems later.

Still piddling around with the siding on the building. I keep taking off to do other thngs instead of working straight through. Yesterday I drove into Austin to have lunch with a bunch of guys. That took time but was well worth it.

Got a call from my cousin about my grandparents old house that she wants us to buy. That could be interesting. She wants the family to buy it back and use it for family reunions and also rent it out as a venue. It's a good idea. But is it workable?

Found out we have a new Chief Appraiser at one of the CADs I deal with a lot. The former guy was the brother of my 4th grade GF so I am glad he just stepped down to the Deputy Chief and will still be there a while as the new Chief gets his feet on the ground. Looks like I need to make a trip to meet the new guy.

Another call regarding a treasurer who is going to have to be fired for misuse of a business credit card. I just don't understand people doing that.

A consulting firm I have been doing some work for since 2022 got a very nice recognition from a trade group recently. I was very happy for them. One thing I did for them was recruit a number of extras to be in a commercial they filmed in the Hill Country. It was fun and it turned out really well. The client they did it for is also a good friend of mine so that made it nicer.

While I was typing this my cousin started texting me pictures of Grandparents old house now and looks like it sure wont need any work. It's really much nicer than I expected. Now the question is if family members will want to try and buy it back. She says the owner is "open to an offer". This particular cousin has been known to 'get things done her way' in the past so it's going to be interesting.
Lots going on it seems there. I'd be interested to hear what town the old house is in, but understand if you would not want to divulge it.

A buddy of mine was chief appraiser for a while. He's retired now. :( He lives a county away from the one he was appraiser for. He says it's best that way. Like a dog not pooping in his own backyard.

I heard a great quote about the quake that was exactly my experience
some lady said it felt like her laundry was out of balance and it was shaking, but
the whole house. That was my first thought when I heard it mixed with giant helicopters overhead.
makes you wonder how old iron gas connections do with this in some of the older row homes.
I've read that many claim when California has "the big one" that the fire damage from the gas lines will be devastating combined with the building destruction. Many say the insurance companies will go bankrupt, causing repercussions throughout the nation. We will all feel "the big one" in many ways, with many types of aftershocks.

Drew, I like the small bubble level idea. they need a phone app that can take a picture of someone, and tell if "they are on the level" or not....Some say dogs have a sense to tell if someone is a troublemaker or not.

Resting with leg elevated. His work keeps in contact. since he started, he has 30 days to pick benefits, I was helping him understand those yesterday. One is health insurance. I was planning to keep him on mine, but he can get HDHP at no premium cost, just has to pay the deductible which is less than what I have on my insurance. So considering him taking their insurance. He's off of mine on his next birthday. Don't know how the accident after he started would work with new insurance. His work says he is eligible for STD, but they have an 8 day period before it's in effect. He goes to DR monday to get evaluated and stitches out.
Glad to hear it. Sounds like he has a good company to work for. Hopefully things will pan out for all of you. Prayers..

Good Morning Again,
Here is a pic from the Vermont porch camera! Not going back until the white stuff is gone ! 😉
Too cold for me! I don't blame you.
You hear that Billy? Same for that hiking weather. I'm warm blooded. LOL.

Don, I have to admit that my calendar was messed up. I wanted to go to the huge garage sale that Don's community does in a parking lot. But that plan was foiled for what I believed was a County cleanup day here, where they take old appliances. I loaded up 2 old appliances and headed to the precinct yard, only to find it closed. It is next Saturday. arghhh. Not sure how I got fouled up on that. So I missed the sale. Don was nice enough to look for some nice tennis rackets, but alas, only older aluminum types. Thank you Don.

We have had cooler mornings the last few days down in the upper 40's to low 50's, then warming up to 80's. Today is cloudy, started out in the 60's and going to low 80's depending on available sunlight.

Popgadget, interested in your plasma cutter endeavors. I'm still troubleshooting the school's. Hope your flying trip went well.

Wifey made chicken verde taquitos. good stuff. We are planning to bbq some burgers this evening. She also made a scratch chocolate cake, the kind that is dense and still moist. My favorite. Had some for dessert w/ice cream.

I had dropped the son off to practice tennis with his middle school friends. There were a lot of kids there. When I picked him up, he was playing doubles against some of the high school tennis team. On their own, the kids organized their own practice day. They play first tourney Monday. Track season ended Friday (last night). Son did well in his 800m dash, breaking his own personal record by 4 seconds, but came in 2nd to a very small framed kid from Sealy who's a distance runner (with a good last 40 meter sprint). My son said he was gassed and had nothing left in the tank to beat him. In his 4 x 400 relay, he lead off and gave his team the lead in his first leg, but his team mates are slower and they ended up 6th next to last. :(

A good way of putting it. Of the ones I am acquainted with well enough to know where they live they all live in the county they work in. Maybe they carry a shovel with them.

That sure sounds good. I bought some ice cream at Costco awhile back and it doesn't compare to BlueBell.

Good afternoon
JD 3038e delivered to my old friend's place down the road a bit. I went over and witnessed the delivery and exchange. Afterwards we looked at his slope that needed fixing up so he could mow. The hill had highs and lows where you could easily roll a tractor and he was hesitant so I got some seat time fixing up the slope and getting a feel for the little tractor. It needs a few mods to improve the operator experience like wheel spacers and a bucket level indicator. Aside from the obvious rear hydraulics. Otherwise a nice smallish machine that will be a good fit on his hilly 5 acres.
Tried to fix their ring doorbell, no luck, needs to recharge. Will try again tomorrow.
Came home and replaced a defective rolling gate infrared safety beam unit for the house gate. Been out of service for a week. Hallelujah - nobody liked it being a manual gate, especially in the rain. :p
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Been a bunch of postings about dash cams lately. Anyone care to share details? Don’t have one in either vehicle, but see the potential.
Just got garmin 47 today was going to get the mini, but no screen on it.
I’ve used dash cams for many years, but wasn’t on when needed. Front only, but have had near hits from behind.
The cobra cam that was in the console has a back camera also, but need to run cable to front camera.

Good (Sunday) morning. Overnight Low of 14.1C and it's presently 15.8C, overcast & calm. There was a much needed 24.6mm in the gauge @ 0700... which would've been 0800 but 'we fell back' an hour over night.

Tanks are full. Yay!

As per usual, I'm off to Church in about a half hour and then the rest of the day is His.

That's about it, take care all.
