Been doing road trips this weekend, to Dad's house which looks to be bank owned.
Insert sad face here.

Know the feeling.

My Dad built a stick-built house using 100% his own labor except concrete. It burned to the ground years later. CalFire chose not to fight a "puny" 1/4 acre fire in a remote area because it posed no threat. That fire eventually grew and turned into a huge conflagration consuming many homes.

Mom and Dad had both passed before their beautiful home burned down.

Weather very dull here low in low 30s high in low 50s. West gets pounded east basks in nice weather but change is coming cold and stormy in the east after mid month maybe lasting to second week of March then warm and wet but we all know how long range forecasts are.

remember the deer whistles they sold, those ugly JC Whitney things you stuck up front?
interesting idea, don't think they worked at low speeds at all.

our local township paid 240 grand two years ago to cull the local deer population.
It has worked. They all went South to Ken's area. No kidding, next township down.
It's like when Bowman's Hill fenced in their entire wildflower preserve to stop deer damage.
They all came North and wrecked our farm fields.
those deer sure have an active *** life and not enough natural predators in this area.
only our car grills.

Good morning! Low of 27°, heading to 45°. Windy this morning.... still.... but only 25-30 mph, gusts to 40. Should calm down by late afternoon. But...it's sunny! It was strange to have heavy cloud cover for 4 days. Too bad we didn't get any measurable precipitation.

Ken, the population of deer there has been a controversy for as long as I can remember (at least back to '78). The protesters would show up at the entrance to Tyler State Park when they were culling the deer. Don't think it's going to end anytime soon.

Drew, that is a good selection of greenhouses. I was surprised that the prices were actually lower than when we got ours. Ours was listed, at $78 lower.... I like that 8'x10'. Don't think we need an upgrade though....

Dennis, the fans make a huge difference. They actually create an airflow pattern in the house, circulating cooler air from the back. Not so much that you 'feel' the air movement, just the temp difference. These were what I initially wanted to use, but i found out they can create an audible vibration in the wall... a low drone.

I've been fighting with my Windows 10 PC the last few days. I noticed "Photos" and "Calculator" stopped working. Apparently a recent Windows "update" (boy, how I've learned to hate that word...) killed them. I just saw that MS admitted a problem and "are working on a solution". It seems they (as usual) forget that most of their users have "older" hardware, and the update was not backwards compatible. Sigh...

Successful trip to town yesterday. Lunch at what used to be our favorite Japanese restaurant. Just not the same since sold. Food still basically good, but less for more money. Even changed the plate to make it seem like more. Been eating there over 20 years. Extensive beer and drink menu. We had water as the green tea was now $5 instead of included. Originally no liquor but you could bring own wine.

No major plans for the day, just piddle around as weather allows.

Perhaps you can reset the PC to a preupdate time?
There is also a way to undo a windows update which is a little deeper but both can be done.
Remember to set/save a backup on a good day often so you have lots of reset options.

Tried all that. System Restore took 4 hours, then failed and locked up the thing. Took me another two hours to "undo" stuff and get it "back", to at least functional (w/o Photos or Calc). I put in the older "Live - Photo Viewer" and an aftermarket Calculator, for now.

Very sorry to read this. It's very tragic anytime someone takes their own life but to me it seems more so when its a young person. Prayers for your GD to cope successfully with this.
