Good Morning
73 going to 79 under clear skies.
Lots of color in the trees now, leaves are falling.

Not much to report, some shop time yesterday, run to the UPS store for an Amazon return, played music last night.
This morning I’m about to embark on a 3-1/2 hour drive to Big Indian, NY for a wedding. Taking the Prius Prime be interesting to see how it does. Way past its EV range.

Good morning! 78˚ cloudy skies. I'm finally getting pain med down for most effectiveness and least amount used so they will last several weeks after refill tomorrow. Check it's hard to gauge how long to take off work after knee surgery because everyone is different, too many variables. I would say on average 6 weeks.

Last night wife had to leave bedroom after I had hic-ups for 3 hours. I need to see if that is a side effect of some med.

This morning the flex machine was upped to 119˚ on last set, after an hour of warm-up.

score two for the home team
after a lot of struggling with a tap, got the bolt back in place for the rv stabilizer, and that job was completed.
then my computer whiz friend came over and helped me with the Calyx wifi. Thought we were stumped, once again could not
get my smart phone to process the app, but we figured out another way in using Google and bingo, it loaded.

305 up/340 down. Mighty fast for a hockey puck. Inseego mifi about twice the size of Verizon mifi using Tmobile network
this could be a game changer for my rv travels if the coverage area works. That kind of speed with no throttling or maximums
means I can watch Amazon movies, Youtube, etc without pixellating or hanging up.
On this coming trip, I will use both mifis to compare them.
interesting quirk to Calyx is 338 dollars of the first year charge is tax deductible, since they are a non profit. 500 per year
for service, 250 extra first year for hockey puck.

score not so good with deer.
Now 5 to 0
after wrapping the second decimated willow bush with plastic, deer came back last night and ripped the whole thing apart.
that is one determined destructive deer

I could sure use a venison burger...

Kk thanks, txdon. I am looking at doing both of these sometime in the next year, and I am amazed at how quickly it become mobile after. Wife, wife and I were discussing how much time off I would have to take from work, but at this point it doesn’t look like much!

Theoretically, I can teach remotely, and give my lectures, while sitting on the couch. But my wife says I should take advantage of the 16 weeks paid sick leave we get, and I am certainly not going to lecture in pain. So I’m trying to get a good handle on what the range is in length of time in pain. I see some reports of a short period and some reports of a long period.

I am scheduled for an MRI on November 13 to see how bad it looks.
What do you teach, if you don't mind my asking?

Got the A/C done. Vacuumed it for over an hour last night, shut the valves, went to bed. Woke up, vacuum gage hadn't moved. Went ahead and vacuumed it another 45 minutes or so. It is humid down here. Last night, When I flushed out the evaporator core, it shot out old pag oil onto the exhaust manifold. Had me a smoke signal going when I started it up. Only took one can of R134. Small system.

Now to try and figure out how I want to repair the front clip's mounting tabs.

54F and cloudy @ 14:00, high was 64.4F at midnight. Got 0.35" of rain early this morning.

Yesterday USPS tracking showed softener parts hadn't even been picked up for shipment ... and then later yesterday afternoon showed that they had been delivered and were in the mail box here.

Got another 20 strawberry plants put in the ground yesterday afternoon. Good root development:

IMG_3017 copy.jpg

Need to dole out meds for this coming week.

Then probably see if I can get a few more planted this afternoon ... if it isn't raining.

Ten Day calling for lows in the upper 20's Mon, Tue, Wed ... so will probably move whatever hasn't been planted into the basement to prevent them from freezing.

Next Thursday through Sunday is supposed to warm up into the 50's so will see if I can get them finished up then. Not sure if there are enough holes.

Back to work on softener during this cold snap.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)

Guess who is back here :)

Just hope you didn’t missed me too badly :)

As you probably remember, I had some health issues. Now fully resolved. Almost.
Some 6 weeks ago in my forest at “rancho” got a kind of “baby-tornado” which has left some mess there. To evaluate situation had few longer walks there. Had to make few stops to catch breath. But nothing critical. Walking in so messed forest is a challenge even for healthy person.

But still, I got feeling I am not as good as I used to be. Have to loose weight. Now after all those lazy days I am around 100 kg (220 lbs). For 185 cm high man that’s too much
Looking on that damage have decided that we have to buy forest trailer with crane and winch. Obviously - used ones. Have tried that equipment already, seems good investment. Sadly prices for wood now is down, but I have to clear that mess anyway

Kids and wife are doing great
Older daughter finished secondary school and started university (in US you would call it college, I guess). She is 19. She had so good results at her school exams that she had all doors open. I mean - for free. :) Here if student have decent grades, he/she can attend university for free
At the end daughter chose to study engineering of medical equipment. That’s a hell of a course. She likes medicine, but got feeling that pure medicine would be too much. Daddy is an engineer, so she have chosen a good combination. Maybe. At least I am happy. I have not pushed her, just encouraged. She lives now in Riga, its like 20 km from our home. Comes to visit us at weekends. And wife already so excited to see her. Cmon, she was out few nights only … :)
Smaller kids are at school, doing well
Boys had participated at rather big basketball tournament. Won bronze. That’s good motivation to work harder everyday

Welcome back Helogabals! Glad you are better. Sorry about your forest. Cleaning up forest is good opportunity to get back in shape. Awesome news for daughter going to college to be an medical equipment engineer. Fun to watch sons play basketball, even though many hands slapping at the ball at that age. Glad they won a medal.
