now that I know the rv is ready to go
I've been trying to arrange some coffees and lunches with TBN/GM guys along the way on my trip to Florida.
We are member rich in the MD and VA area.
But further down, anyone near this path that wants to say hi to the world?
I'm stuck for two days near Holden Beach NC at Thanksgiving, I'm sure there are NC folks I should meet.
not a great time to travel, wasn't so easy making reservations.

Bill, glad you are saving money. They will likely get it back some other way...

next summer, or maybe late Spring, I'm headed to New England
Maine is lovely.
normally...
sure am going to stop and pick up a good assortment of Phil's wood art on the way.
Perhaps I could take some on consignment and peddle them in campgrounds?... ;)
they would make awesome Xmas presents, anything handmade is always good
we certainly have enough things already with batteries.

time to make a nice breakfast

63 going to 83.

So glad to hear you are feeling better, Helogabals! Sounds like your daughter is smart and hard working to get those grades and university.

Phil, nice job on that border around your stairs.

I have one section of house trim above a roof section that hates its paint. I scraped, wire brushed and final-prepped for painting. But had to wait until late in the afternoon to paint the primer coat...it was too hot. Got up to 85 yesterday, and the temp of the boards was 137F when in direct sunlight...max for this primer is 90. I touched up some other areas with the leftover paint I had poured into my pail. Final topcoat today.

Been too dry to mow/mulch leaves, so just enjoying their color on the ground under the maples (and blown everywhere else).

It is getting close to time to start getting chains on for the season, hoping I can wait for a bit longer.
Going to have to order 3 more pair for this year, may end up driving over your way to pick them up.
It will be several hundred dollars less.
It will be interesting this year I'll be chaining up the smallest tractor tire I've ever chained up when I get them for the little Koiti
it's got 15-19.5's. It will be interesting to see if my normal method of driving them on works on them.
I drive the chains on our side-by-side quad, so you should be fine.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

51.3F going to upper 70s, sunny day forecasted. W e don’t get the big cooldown until Halloween, then into the 20s each night for the rest of the 10-Day.

yesterday was minor low-effort tasks for me most of the day, biggest were grinding up a bag of Chile de Arbol peppers I got at the flea market and putting them in jars. Mrs decided she would blow the leaves with the medium battery blower instead of me doing it with the big gas backpack blower, due to wrist issue. After her third walk around the property (and fifth battery swap) I told her “STOP!!! The leaves will be falling for another three weeks!!!! You ain’t gonna get them all and keep everything clean!!!” She was so upset that every time she got back to her starting point it was lead-strewn again. Too funny - welcome to MY world🤣😂🤣

we Loaded up the steamer trunk in the PU and put it in the cabin shed when we took dog up to woodlot for her walk. One less thing in the driveway.

I like having sheets of cardboard around for various purposes, but it was time to clear out the accumulation to a more manageable level, plus some had succumbed to dampness over time, so I have four big bundles that need to go to the dump, that ride will be after church.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Good morning to all. Warm and Humid again this morning. But, major cold blast later / tonight. After zero "cold" weather this year, the low is forecast to be 37 degrees. Hopefully (90%) chance of some additional rainfall. Warming all week back to low 70's by next weekend. Looking forward to another hay cutting - will be a skinny one but need the hay.
** I have been looking for a pogo stick seed planter- if they make such a thing. ** Saw a couple but they are not rated very good. What am I planting? Well, a variety so probably makes any recommendations difficult. I have smallish areas that I would seed for winter. Do not have the equipment for tractor use and the areas are not large enough, and I would not want to disrupt the soil much since they are on slopes. Any ideas?

Hope all have a safe and productive day.

I need to do some reading. Got tapped to be Finance officer for the American Legion Post.

USAF GB-31 JDAM - you have to like the name. :)

The new variant, dubbed Quicksink, is intended to provide the Air Force with a torpedo-like anti-ship smart weapon.

I picked up and Earthway Seeder at a thrift store for $15 a couple weeks ago, it needed the seed plates so I a, into it for about $60. The Jang seeder seems to be a more capable unit but is several hundred dollars.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:30AM. Sunny. High around 75F. Winds N at 10 to 15 mph.
Red Flag Warning is still in effect, expiring this afternoon. Wind woke me up a little bit ago with a 22 MPH gust.

Got two bookshelves and a cabinet emptied and packed yesterday, still one more bookshelf to go. The pile of stuff that's getting thrown out or burned is growing.

Got the inflatable bed out yesterday to make sure it still holds air, and it's a good thing I did. I forgot that the little blower it came with is battery powered, and the battery was long dead. Found one on Amazon and it should be here on Tuesday. Thought about using the shop vac to inflate it, but the new vac has a muffler on the exhaust to make it quiet, and there's no place to plug in the hose. If I get desperate enough I'll make up something with duct tape and a leaf blower. Hold my beer!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Good Morning Guys ,
Vt, 40 to start going to going to 46 ! Overcast with rain coming in soon, possibly some wet snow up here !

Had a great trip to Lake George, met are friends from Seneca Lake area. They brought us some wine from their neck of the woods, and we brought them some Vermont cheese and crackers !

I was in the barn the other day and noticed some mouse activity, so far have trapped 2 of them ! Darn things get into everything! Wife says, you’re not killing them are you ? Oh no honey ! 😂

Got another 20 plants in the ground this afternoon, temp was in the mid-50’s … didn’t seem too bad … but my nose was running and my feet were cold by the time I came in.
GM RS,
Do you and the wife can a lot of your produce or do you guys have a stand that you sell at ?

May put the chains on the Massey today if I have time ! Right now drinking coffee in front of the wood stove !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !

63 outside this AM, may touch 80 today.

Yesterday was a run around. Got my curbside pickup from HD, only took an hour. LOL. Not like the other store in my shopping area, a lot slower yesterday.

Proceeded to work on Milk House and Wife started with elbow grease on the "kitchen sink". That will take a few days, so far it looks like a re-glaze may not be needed. It is the original sink from somewhere in the farm house.

Not much else done. Today I hope to do the final metal hangings and make sure everything is out of the plumbers way for tomorrow.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe, those ailing, heal faster.

Good Morning
54 and grey. High of 60 with drizzle starting soon and continuing through tomorrow.

Yesterday’s wedding was very nice, the fall colors were spectacular in the Catskills. They lucked out on the weather, and had the ceremony outside.

It was a long drive, almost 400 miles round trip, the vast majority was highway. Set the cruise control on 78 and let it adjust for traffic. I never had a radar cruise control before, but I’m a believer now. Some traffic around NYC on the way up, the ride home was clear sailing. The Prius averaged 63.6 mpg overall. It was in the 70’s on the way up, when the speeds were lower, but it still has half a tank of gas, so I’ve not complaining.

Not much planned for today, some shop time, hopely lunch with an old friend.

Darn, that as good as my long gone 1979 VW Rabbit Diesel. I'd drive between Washington, DC and Burlington, Vt (almost all interstate) and get a reliable 65MPG with a light load.

That's great. We had a '78 Rabbit Diesel...didn't regularly track MPG...but do remember sampling one tank, and got mid 50's. Fun car to drive...drove it to Maine and to Florida.

Good Afternoon gstrom99,
Beautiful lift, I can’t tell you how many times that I wished I had one !
Is that a 12 ft ceiling in your shop ?
I’m thinking you need that height for the lift to be effective !Enjoy it !
Thanks! The ceiling height for that area is 12' 3". The specs called out 12' 0" (minimum). They flipped the columns right up, and the cross bar has about 4" clearance. I had it put in at an angle. It clears the lights, but the end of the high lift door track will be close to any full bodied veh - so I will need to pay attention. Good to go, hopefully get to permanent wiring today). Cold and a skiff of snow overnight. Calling for a low of 19 tonight. Will fire up the house wood stove tonight.

My KubVan has a VW Rabbit drivetrain, including the 52hp indirect injection 1.6L diesel. But it gets just under 30mpg. It might be lacking in aerodynamic properties.

Thanks for the ideas. The Earthway or other roller type hand planters are a NO-GO. These assume that the ground is prepared, and I am sure work well. But I am looking for something that can punch a single hole, drop a seed and (would be ideal, if it could seal the hole). The dirt here is HARD.
