I also got bit by a brown recluse, that was the worst bite I ever had, felt ill and half my body turned bright red.
You already answered but I was wondering about your long term scar.
The gentleman we did work just purchased a 6060 limited edition metal flake paint, 8 foot bush hog, grapple. Pallet forks, air ride seat, very nice looking tractor takes care of 88 acres
Nice tractor. $$$

Piddling turned into a major auto project.....
The "temp control" in our little car broke a plastic gear again in the knob contraption. This is the third gear....

The original was replaced with a junk yard assembly, which quickly broke the fourth or fifth time it was turned.

Replaced the replacement....same thing again. The replacements are junk yard issue --- can't find a new one, but they used to cost $479 when they were available. The plastic is becoming brittle with age and heat.

Ended up taking 3/4 of the dash apart to gain part access to the blend door.... it moves but is kind of 'tight' throughout the motion. Only way to gain access is to remove the heater core and a/c condenser..... not going to go that far.....

Ended up just setting the blend to mid point to get some heat for the defrost. At least I know where the connection is and can manually get it changed if need be.....

I just have to put on my engineering cap and figure out a redneck design for a fix.

There's been heavy cloud cover all day, temp only up to 61° so far. A couple light sprinkles took the gauge up to 1/8". The guessers are saying better chances for heavier rain later this afternoon and tonight. Fingers are still crossed.......
Pictures? Is this the controller head, or the blend door actuator? Or something else? On the standard GM type, you can take the blend door actuators apart and sometimes turn the broken gear 180 degrees, and put it back together. Depends on the amount of movement it provides. If you could get the broken gear out, you might be able to get one 3D plastic printed.

Son had a fairly good game as an individual, but his team lost badly. He still plays a little tentatively. He played on kickoff and return teams (only 1 kickoff, 5 return teams). Also linebacker and full back. He recovered a fumble on the kickoff....only for his team to fumble it back away on the next play. The other team had a player that should be on varsity and not 8th grade.

I stopped at Bucees to fill up my car...it had gone up from $3.22 to $3.59/gallon. Ouch. Then on the way home, I saw 2 stations that hadn't raised their prices yet. So I took the SUV down and bought $80.50 worth at $3.29/gallon. Saved over $7. on a fill up.

Yes Drew, the winds have blown both ways. Keep on posting. Like my above paragraph. I'm pointing out something, without pointing fingers. We've been doing so good here, despite the times. I guess some people like expensive gas and food.

I wonder how the huge lithium prospective mine in Nevada/Oregon will play out? I'm already seeing hardcore environmentalist protesting, whilst the EV crowd who believe that they themselves are "environmentally green", and now that big ole' huge open pit strip mining come here....I'm just wondering how it will play out. USA has always had a pro mining tendency. But the main thing is, it will buy us freedom from foreign lithium...which might be the biggest thing of how things play out. I say, dig out the lithium, and fill the hole with broken wind generator rotor vanes. Then cover it up.

How's that for coffee talk?

Prayers for our team.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 48° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 67° with partly cloudy skies. Went to neighbors and moved tree limbs off their lawn. While took down a pine tree that was blocking view of flower garden. Rest of the day was spent relaxing. No plans for today yet.

Morning. Nice balmy 66° out. Up at 3am to catch a flight to a work shindig. It's an appreciation for the service managers who recieved top shop last year.

2 days at a resort in Florida. Not sure of what's all going on. They did say that the attire for the event is beach casual. Shorts and flip flops for the duration.

I do know that dinners in the sand tonight on the beach. And a fishing trip tomorrow afternoon.

From what my regional manager told me, they are apparently doing a presentation in the morning and looking for our feed back.

Spouse was included in the invite, but our daughter had planned a trip to Europe at the same time, so someone has to watch the grandkiddo.

68 outside this AM. Heading to lower 80's. 86% humidity.

No rain these last few days. Got real close one day, could smell it in the air. No joy.

We started putting hay out for the horses, 20 acres of pastures ...poof...nothing to eat. Have another 10 that's been set aside for next year, but the grasses in there are burned out too. Thinking about buying more hay to get into next year. Have about 200 bales but the math does not add up.

Most all of the farmers around me have lost their crops.

Still no word from plumber. Looks like I will need to start calling around again. Maybe time to get a rental ditch witch and lay the grinder pump and tie in myself. Then find someone to bust concrete for a few days. LOL. Any volunteers in the GM crew?

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good morning, 64 going to 79 no rain

Did some minor maintenance on the excavator. Cleaned the fuel/water separator by taking off the glass bowl and cleaning it up. Careful to put the red float back in. Drained a little off the fuel tank to check for water. None found. Took out the AC cabin filters and blew them clean with 30 psi air. Removed the air filter outer and cleaned as well with 30 psi by blowing from inside the filter.

Dug out some dirt around the pond and brought it up to fill in an area where boulders had been removed.

Had a talk with neighbor who is waiting for installation of a 10,000 lbs lift. He is having it installed and delivered by a local company

63F thick fog 70F for high rain arriving around 11am.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :)
Plans for today...AM couple hours trimming,PM not sure yet since rain will cancel puttering outside.

Enjoy your day all.

65 and thick fog...going to 82. Low humidity around the corner.

Congrats on winning that trip, Dftodd. Hope you have great weather.

Buppies, glad your wife is better.

Ron, I love today's pic. Seems that insects don't get as much attention by people, but quite interesting creatures.

Wife caught a small black snake in the house yesterday. She handled it like a pro.

I managed to get 3 more food plots tilled and planted, as well as an hour of mowing, just before the rain hit. Got the right amount after planting...1/4 inch.

I've morphed into a 1940's music fan...can't get enough. Surprising since I've always listened to Reggae, Bluegrass, Cumbia and Classical, like Dvorak.

Yeah, they didn't think that through very well. They are nice sealed connectors, but both too large to be passing through a wall. Still need to close ours up with RTV.
I got the grey electrical service entry sealing putty -far less mess and no curing time.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

62.1F going to upper 70e, mostly sunny forecast.

running around went well, Mrs did well at the thrift stores, I started the seasoning process on one of the cast-iron pans (the wide flat one) by following the directions… however, it took over two hours + to burn off the factory oil coat and was getting dark when I applied the first coat of fresh oil, then started to drizzle, so I will resume the process by baking it in the inside oven for a couple hours.

Today, Mrs wants to stop by the local county job fair. Maybe do something other than seasonal tax work? But then it would be giving up free time for woodlot and foodplot work… but my pension got screwed about 20 years ago when somehow we lost COLA, so my decent pension has fallen far behind inflation as of late…

then we go for round 2 of brakes…

when I do the deep cast Iron cauldron tonight, I will give it a wipe with some thinners to get more of the factory oil off so maybe it will take less time to burn off. It is all a learning curve.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

Morning all, cloudy, going up to 80 with a lot of thunder and some rain last night.
Spent a few hours trimming along road. Stiltgrass was so high/thick I went through 3+ batteries in 1.5 hours, should have lasted 3 hours with normal cutting.
Then went and did a few side areas, need to wait for a few dry days to finish around yard and get out blower, lots of leaves falling.

Buppies - I hope the Dr. is also checking for any UTI etc. that would drive my SILs mother to forget who she was and get angry. I hope this all gets better for you, prayers sent.

Sodamo - congrats on the pool conversion. No more burning eyes!

Dftodd - congrats on trip, have fun.

Think I found out how I got poison ivy the other day, on the front stretch birds must have "dropped" some seed and some young ivy vines, will take care of them in the winter.

Not sure what I will get up to after work with the rain around. Maybe put up another sheetrock panel.

Have the remote app for the mini-split working and trying to adjust the dry vs. cool cycles. The dry cycles keep ac on so it gets cold, the insulation I added keeps it cold. but humidity still comes up when only on ac, so cycling ac/dry until I get the right mix. Thing cools the whole garage really fast.

Be well,

I usually wait a few months after each new vaccine is introduced and then poll my doctors & other friends to see what they are thinking.
Only the RSV is out yet - at least in our area. One retired doc got it last week, another still in practice said he is going to wait until about December before reviewing the results. i.e. to early for conclusions.

Flu & Covid not available yet.

Vaccination is a wonderful tool. I remember all too well the horror of mysterious annual polio outbreaks.
Lost my best friend in grade school that way.
But side effects are real too.

rScotty
And the official definition of “vaccine” was changed from what it had been for decades to something else because “reasons”…

Another round table discussion...Why is there DEF or purge cycles on tractors at all?

There are some who won't upgrade to a newer Tier because their old tractors run better with less fuss. The previous tier was clean and ran fine.
Something about “Right to Repair” on the current crop of tractors that all have Def/Purge (sounds like a band name, no?) May have something to do with it.

I was a bit skeptical of the tier4 engines when I bought my L6060. It has a DPF and does regeneration, but no DEF.
So far it is entirely seamless, I have never had to wait for a regen, they happen entirely in the background while the tractor is working. I do appreciate the efficiency that the common rail injection brings to the table, I routinely see 1.7 gph while pulling a 16’ mower. Also the exhaust is clean, and doesn’t appear to have any odor, even when run indoors.
So at least in my experience, it’s much to do about nothing.

Good morning! 71˚F, North wind, partly cloudy, only heading to the mid 80s, wow that will make today a 20˚ cooler day than the 100s we has last week.

Probate paperwork and lawn mowing will consume most of the day. The liquidators finished pricing the 1000s of items in the house and the "tool man" still has to finish the garage and tractor shed. My Aunt came by and help clean out the pantry and the freezer, and took a trunk load of groceries home.

I still need to transfer about three trailer loads of stuff from one building to another, but will wait for my nephew to help because of my knee. Even though I have 3 weeks before the sale I still see no end in sight in the organization of the sale items, it will just be a best try effort.
