Good morning!!!!

58°F and cloudy this morning, and pretty much all day, getting up to 80°. 69° and light rain right now, which started about an hour ago.

Finally got the Starlink dish mounted on the roof yesterday. Removed the old HughesNet dish, added an adapter to the existing 2" pole, and on it went. Easy-peasy. It's almost entertaining how much smaller the Starlink dish is ... probably 1/8th the size of the old one. Looks like a full-size laptop computer on a stick. We have even less obstruction showing up there, which is the very tippy tops of our oak trees in the front yard.

Got the rest of the grass mowed after that, while The Wife was out in the pasture dismantling her dog agility equipment. After I finished mowing, I helped her move some of the heavier and more awkward stuff into the barn. Guess she's done out there for the season. Did have to spray a couple of wasp nests on the equipment before we could move it. More stinging bugs ... yay me. No stings this time, though.

Wife has restarted the conversation about the barn ... again. Now it's concrete the floor and add another 40'x40' on the back side for her to use as an indoor training facility. We'll see how far this one goes.

Our Maintenance guy at work is gone all week with the Maintenance Manager down to our facility in Mexico. We have a new, bigger building they just moved into last week, and our guys are there to help connect and setup all the machinery. The amount of constantly changing hurdles we had to jump through with the government down there was astounding. Our guy's absence, though, leaves me as the main "fix it" guy at our facility. Told my supervisors at the daily production meeting first thing this morning, "Don't break anything this week," which they promptly ignored. Fortunately, easily fixable stuff. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. I suspect I'll know a lot more about electronics surface mount equipment repair before the weekend arrives. Nothing wrong with learning, I guess.

Hope everyone is well.

Good evening, gents.

I want to experiment with a recipe: I like skirt steak, but sometimes, despite your best efforts, it can be a little chewy. I want to take two full steaks, season them with brisket rub, then wrap them together in a pinwheel and do a slow&low long brisket-type smoke on them. Whaddya think?
I've had good luck with pounding the daylights out of skirt steak with one of those medevil looking tendering hammers from back in my Mom's day. But I suppose if you got it hot enough long enough to break down the connective tissue, that would work, too. Good luck with whatever way you go, KJC!

Is anyone planning on getting their flu shot this year? Or the Fall Covid shot?
Yes to both... although it's during my Autumn.

Heck, due to my Navy service, I've been jabbed with so many things that (upon retiring) I was half way through my second 'WHO International Vaccination' booklet. :D

Coffee is done brewing. 60° with rain this morning. Heading to 67° with continued AM rain. .91" of rain overnight. Window washing did not go well. Was pulling some garden weeds before starting to wash windows. Mosquito's were trying to eat me alive. This was in same place as window washing was going to happen. Decided I would only kitchen and dinning room windows and get away from Mosquito's. Installed new parts on Bandsaw. Saw is a Craftsman made by Rikon. I usually buy Rikon parts for it. This time the table inert had adjusting screws that allow adjustment for level to table. Nice feature. Now I can make new parts for bird feeders. Suppose to go to neighbors with tractor this morning to move some large limbs that are on their lawn. Will see if that happens. May still be raining.
Looks like dandelion flowers but they are not.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
lovely day, 66 going up to high 80's in full sunshine
only plans for today are taking back all my cable gear back to Comcast, now that Verizon is up and running.
I wonder how long the line will be, they do not make returning gear convenient for sure. One store in large local area.

first cleaning lady this morning, once she gets settled, I can take off.

hope it starts to cool off in Texas for you guys.
sounds like the whole state could use the Nestea Plunge...remember that? (1977)
funny how ads stick with you

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 3:15AM back in Yankee Hill. Mainly sunny. High 92F. Winds light and variable.

Uneventful trip back from SoCal on Sunday, other than getting very drowsy as I reached Sacramento. Dropped by a warehouse liquor store called Total Wine and More and refreshed my Shiner stash, and caught a second wind. Made it home with no further issues.

Got an early start yesterday to be at the courthouse by 8:30 and did the usual waiting around for most of the morning. The first case they were prosecuting was scheduled to take until the end of November, so almost the whole room of at least 60 people claimed hardship, including me. They moved us to another court they said would only take 3-5 days, so I stuck around. Got placed in the jury box, and when the defense attorney asked if anyone didn't want to be there, I was the only one that raised my hand. He asked why, I told him I was in the middle of a move and was trying to get out of town before my house burned down. But also that I felt I had a civic duty to serve, and could afford to give three days to his client to ensure a fair trial. But that I would probably be distracted. I was excused in the first round of challenges.

Dropped by Home Depot for a new stop cock for one of the toilets, but ended up bringing home the wrong one. So that's job 1 this morning. Can't leave this place with a leaking toilet valve, and I'm hoping to start another trip south on Thursday. Two more motorcycles and whatever other treasures will fit in the van.

Hope everyone's week got off to a good start...

66 outside this AM, heading to 90. 89% humidity.

Trying to get back in touch with plumber, more details needed on estimate and get dates set.

Nothing on the agenda, just trying to stay out of trouble and work as much as possible.

Made a paw paw harvest the other day, enough for a few loafs of bread.

Hope all are doing ok. Be safe.

I got the flu shot at the doctors last Thursday. I think it was a little early. Mid October would probably be better if you want to have maximum immunity when the flu peaks. I think I will get the Covid 19 shot this fall. I heard a UCSF Doctor say everyone should get it but people over 65, immune compromised, people with co-morbidiities really should get it.

I would love to go on jury duty. Both times were very satisfying.
RNG, very excited to see you move to a new home and hopefully long term worry less about your security there.
I expect to see you the end of next September. Get your rv pad ready please.
30 amps is plenty.

apparently I have a cyst in the palm of my right hand, sore puffy spot,
which I showed nurse yesterday, that got worse over night and hand is unhappy.
yet another part to fix....like a car with 200k miles. So I have to call first thing and find someone to cut my hand open and hopefully have it heal before
I leave next Monday on my rv trip. Hoped I could ignore it. Nope.

people over 65, immune compromised, people with co-morbidities really should get it.

that's me. as soon as it becomes available locally

Good morning! A warm muggy 78˚ this morning but with a North breeze starting in an hour and cloud cover "they" say the high will only be 90˚.

Going through my parents old pictures yesterday realized how important it is for them to label who the pics are. I also saw where my Dad was trustee for my uncle and there was a casket warranty in his things. A 5 year warranty. How many times is a warranty like that used?

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

62.2F going to low 80s, cloudy day, chance of scattered PM showers.

went to chiro in the morning, got some good pops, got a laser treatment for some tendinitis in my elbow, felt good. Have to se if insurance covers it. Doc said they don’t, I said put in a claim anyway, otherwise the rewult is an automatic no…

one of the last two remaining vacant lots in the subdivision recently sold, to a home builder, and they had started cutting down trees and burning the waste, but the day before we saw some massive logs being added to the burn pile. On the way back from the chiro, they big boss was there, now we stopped and inquired about the logs. He is burning the pine because it isn’t worth it for him to haul to the pulp mill for the price versus his volume and capacity per load and fuel, he keeps the hardwood for his own sawmill. We said we’d take the big pine logs and the Smallwood hardwood so he wouldn’t have to waste time with burning the big pieces, and we wouldn’t have to split the small hardwood. He likes that idea. Long story short, a half hour later he comes and delivered a dump truck load of logs in our driveway and we are very happy and so is he.

IMG_0552.jpeg

As he leaves, he says “that should keep you busy for a while!” I replied - it will probably be mostly processed by the weekend and he looked shocked. So now we are on a mission. And hopefully another load of wood. I have no problem burning pine, because I segregate it from the hardwood and season it an extra year, so what I trim and split off the logs for our mill gets marked “26”.

we then took the dogs up to the woodlot for a walk and I retrieved my big saw and we spent about two hours making that pile manageable and moving pieces to a less obstructive location. Once the sun comes up I will post a photo of that result.

today is some admin stuff in town, followed by house puttering.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

The flu vaccine was developed over 60 years ago.

Flu is still around and prevalent.

hope it starts to cool off in Texas for you guys.
Need to check with Buppies if 100˚ days will be coming back later this month. In the 1920s and 30s central Texas was having 100˚ days into October. This has not even been the hottest summer on record so the climate change is not to blame, just that silly persistent high pressure dome on top of us.

Good evening, gents.
The only PITA with the StarLink install is the size hole you need to bore for the connector to pass through, versus the amount of space the cable takes up after…
