Good morning!!!!

38 outside this AM, be lucky if we get to upper 50's today. Weather patterns have absolutely wrecked our flowering plants. Our daffodils look ragged.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Condolences Don.

Condolences Don!
23 going to 37 today with clouds and wind making it an indoor day. I did get a couple of hours in yesterday picking up branches and starting on the yard cleanup. I don't think I have ever had no snow on the ground this early before.
Got a few hours in the woodshop also and made a bowl out of recycled 2x6. Just a practice piece to try and be artsy!
Hospital for the wife early tomorrow morning for her endoscopy. Hoping they find all good! I actually made an appointment for my own every two year endoscopy also.
We will go out for breakfast in a bit. Wife wants an omelet.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good Morning
28 outside this morning under a cloudless sky.

Yesterday was another day spent on my butt watching the world go by. Sunny and warm in Vero Beach, cold and windy in Washington, PA.

Today I’m off to Hilton Head, a relatively quick trip, then get to stay home for a while.
Not much else to report, didn’t even have a chance to check out the new cordless tool that Amazon brought me while I was traveling. Hopefully this afternoon.

Don I’m sorry to hear the news about Whipper. When we lost Emily, we thought that she was our last dog, but we did keep in touch with breeders, so we probably didn’t believe it. Zoe arrived at 9 weeks old days before Christmas. Just sayin………

Morning all, 31 and up to 57 and saying it's sunny, clouds winning though.
Still tired from medicine change.

Drew - for ants, a little boric acid powder (zap-a-roach) in their path will have them bring it back to the nest and less toxic than sprays.

TXDon - sorry about whipper - a great dog and will miss the stories.

Ron - glad you found short, that wasn't 120 volts in the chair material I hope.

wrestling with puppy is not helping me type. Will hold off on his updates in respect for Whipper.
Oh no, please don't, I like puppy stories. Whipper is at peace. We have no plans for another puppy.

Thanks for all the condolences, It's nice to have good tractor friends.

Good morning! 59˚F, cloudy small chance for rain each day for the next week (which usually means less than a tenth).
Today I need to finish the stepping stones around the raised beds. This will be the last of the mega list that popped up after vacation, however the rest will be short, a not so priority list is forming as I'm sitting here.

Whipper made sure she walked us every day twice a day and we will continue on the routes.

Good Morning!!!! 36F @ 4:30AM. Plenty of sunshine. High 61F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

All things considered, Drew, 10-11 MPG ain't bad. Looked at hotel room rates lately? Anywhere from $120/night up. $300 if you want a cabin. Compare that to $25-$50/night for a camp spot, and the motor home starts looking like a pretty good deal. Same with restaurant prices; they're out of this world. You've got a frig and stove, and I bet you know your way around the pots'n'pans by now. Good luck with the ants. Maybe try some of those Grants ant sticks?

Have you got your bucket stuck trying to grab too much dirt at one time yet, Frits? Easy to do, especially if you're headed down hill into the pile. Big surprise when you try to lift the bucket and the back wheels go up in the air instead!o_O

Had 56 MPH winds here day before yesterday, Ted, and it sounded like the roof was coming off again. I can't imagine what 70 MPH would do. Good luck hunkering down.

Sorry to read that, Don, but at least Whipper's end came quickly.

Thanks for passing the progressive lens info along, Kyle. It's time for new lenses again here, too, and anything that saves moving my head from side to side when reading will be a help.

Crazy day yesterday. My buddy went with the realtor for the walk through at the Nipomo home, but for some reason the zoom call didn't happen. I got a bunch of after the fact photos that showed an old, but cozy, kind of a cottage house, with a big wide covered porch a lot of the way around the place, but badly dated appliances and bathroom and kitchen fixtures. Nice hardwood floors though, but some pretty ratty carpet covering some of it. Some issues with the sewer connection, but I'd rather deal with that than another septic system. I did the math, and the house is 81 years old. About the same age as the demented owner that was still living there, along with a sort of moocher tenant that had accumulated an immense pile of junk all over the acre and a half property. Most of it would be an easy cleanup with the grapple and one of those big haul away bins, but there are several dead cars and trucks, too. The seller's realtor said they already had two full price cash offers, but the asking price was a few hundred thousand lower than the place I was looking at last week. Made an offer a little higher than asking last night and might know today if they take it.

While pulling all that together, an acre and a half with a much nicer home for less money came on the market in Orcutt, so my friend swung by on the way home to look at it, too. Didn't see much due to the big high fence surrounding the place, but the listing shots showed another big lot with lots of junk on it, and a 70s era home that looked to be in pretty good shape but a little tired. It would be much less work than the Nipomo place. So I hope to get the realtor over there today to look at that one, too. Been turning my nose up for four months, and now two properties pop up right in the sweet spot at the same time. When it rains, it pours.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

The tractor is heavy enough to not do that. The best way is to use an upward scraping action to avoid getting the bucket stuck and have to back up. Timing the round trips to do this most efficiently has found the best ways to do this and save time and effort. Keeping the bucket low during transport is good policy. Using the excavator to create the pile helps to have a pile that is easier to pick up and is better on the front end loader.

Good Morning - currently 51° going to 68°

Don - Sorry about Whipper, a great dog like that will be missed...

Drew - I have used Terro liquid bait and had great results with it..A couple drops on a piece of cardboard or paper and the ants flock to it and take it back to nest..No more ants....

Got beat last night in our dart match..taht was a bummer..

Have a great day

Condolences Don. RIP Whipper.

Good morning! 38° now and sunny. High is supposed to be 52° today. Forecast says more high winds starting tomorrow. Could have gusts of 60+ MPH. Supposed to continue into Saturday. So likely power outages again. Some still don’t have power restored from last weekends winds.

I don’t think we get normal wind anymore. It seems to either be calm or near gale force….

Lots of roof and building damage locally after last Saturday. My dad’s barn actually moved on the foundation and has a lot of wall damage.

yesterday was time to clean and refill the parts washer. Added a filter and made some other improvements. It was more of a project than I thought it was going to be. Not sure what today will bring.

My wife started her 69th lap of the sun yesterday. She will do it in style.

One of my more successful trainees from when I was working abruptly quit. He told me it became unbearable to work there after I left. He is the 2nd one to leave who has said that. Both said I kept the stupidity at bay. Now I am getting calls and texts from salesmen, dealers, and customers asking for advice since they can’t get any help. I really don’t know what to tell them….

Everyone stay safe out there

Dad’s 99th birthday got his picture on front page of local paper.
Also wind did some roof and tree damage last week.

Dad has already put a chain around the tree to hold it together. This tree split back in the 60s, and has a cable embedded in it from then that has held it, but this split is in different area.

Rich - happy birthday to the Mrs.

BEF - sorry about the damage

Good morning! Low of 31°, heading to 62°. Sunny, but the wind will arrive this afternoon.... and stay throughout the night. Just a little breezy right now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! To Mrs Rich.

Kyle, neat that you get to see some of the fruits of your labor. Hope she goes far in the Navy.

BEF, nice story about your Dad, did he smile for the pic? Sorry about the damage.

Going to run into town for some new boots and sneakers. Should be a challenge. I have difficult feet to find comfortable shoes.... to the point that the wifey will NEVER go with me for shoe shopping.

Everyone have a great day!

67°F and .01 inches rain.

Morning starting out a bit tamer than yesterday, will continue with the traction shed extension work. That will involve painting and installing some 2x4 extensions to attach some roof flashing and fascia, which still needs to be bought. These attach to the aluminum angle that support the PV panels.

Once that is done I can paint and trim out the Hardie panel walls.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
