Drew, you might try corn meal for your ants.

A winter storm watch for us starting tomorrow afternoon and continuing through Saturday. They are threatening up to a foot.
I am still leaving Sunday morning for my annual medical and the start up meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

Slow start this morning, worked on bike pedal rebuild, got it reassembled and still bad spot in bearing, so trashed pedal. Hoping for better results on Shimano pedal. Took wife to town, got E0 gas, 3.229/gal, lunch, her errands did not get accomplished, did get groceries. Did get nap in. Last night called Amazon customer support, AAA rechargeable batteries I bought to try out died 3 weeks before warranty ended, Got new set of batteries for free, but call was a challenge because 2 to 3 other calls were getting picked up as clear as her voice, very distracting.

Coffee is brewing. 35° with rain this morning. Heading to 57° with continues rain. Forecasters are calling for over 1" of rain. Maybe. Got grocery shopping done. Shelves were well stocked. Now that my recliner that looks over garden pond is fixed. Added some ice cream to list. Going to be a good day for house cleaning.
Early morning visitor. There was 4 of them. Only one stopped to pose for camera.

Bird, could you share some that 72° with us northerners.

Everyone stay safe and well.

37, going to 70, rain later.

Happy late birthday to Mrs. Rich!

BEF, really enjoy hearing about your Dad. Neat idea to get those guys together.

Thomas, congrats on the bonus and smooth cigars! Never really encountered black flies down here until last week in the mountains...was wearing shorts on my hike...now have 3 lumps on my leg.

Finished my goal of hiking from the Potomac River to the James River on the AT. Now it's time to set a new goal. Yesterday I hiked up from the James River footbridge over Big Rocky Row and Bluff Mountain to Punchbowl...now one of my 5 favorite trails. Hard but rewarding. I'll try to post some pix.

good morning all
lots of us up early
67 degrees in Flagler beach with the surf a pleasant noise to wake up to. Put warmer clothes on, then looked at forecast for Columbia SC, hmmm, 80 today, ok, off goes long shirt and back on with golf shirt.
So far I've dodged any kind of bad weather, but I see rain and high winds in forecast ahead for following day when I head for VA and lunch with Buppies. Hope I can make it.
Headed to a brand new campground that should be nice:
350 mile day, long day, at least all on major highways, another dose of banging along on Rt 95 in SC

yesterday was complicated by a beeping noise that started as soon as I started up rv in the morning. Beep I thought coming from inside dash.
So I checked parking brake, slide, anything I could think of that would sound some kind of alarm. All gauges looked fine. Hmmmm. So for six hours I had to listen to this incessant beeping, about every five seconds and it came through my headphones. Groan.
When I started turning everything off when I got here, found the problem. I had nudged the mode/test button on tpms and it was beeping at me to finish my input. All the tires showed the right pressure so I thought it was working fine and with my bad ear had a hard time locating the noise. One little push and off went the noise.
Sigh. Six hours of beeping for nothing. :cautious:

need to check my propane level before I leave. Never hooked up septic line since I emptied tanks yesterday morning and well I'm not that full of shhhh....

borrowed some ant spray from neighbor here and less ants this morning, but one just crawled across my laptop. Geez. Can't wait until I get home and get rid of them.

hope you all have a nice Friday.

the sound of the ocean surf is just magical here. I will surely come back.

   / Good morning!!!! #167,150
33 outside right now, should get to 60 today. Rain moving in tonight...and probably Saturday too.

I mowed my fields and "lawns" yesterday for the first time. Even got the weed whacker out. I was not ready to start this early...but it has greened up here rather quickly.

On the Milk House, the concrete wall work is almost done, I just need a skim coat in spots. I think this weekend I can paint the big room. The bathroom area is next, but I will have to get some help with the concrete work in there for the plumbing drains. I can close off the bathroom area from the big room as I work in it. So no big deal about the mess it will entail.

Mostly, no leisure here....LOL.

Safe travels, Drew.

Hope all have a great day, be safe...and get or stay healthy if you need to.

Good morning, Low temp 19 and going to a high of 34°F. Wind ESE 8 mpg. Snow and a weather warning.

Special Weather Statement in effect for:

  • Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet which includes me
Freezing rain or rain tonight into Saturday. Hazards: Freezing rain with some ice accretion possible. Rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm (up to .75"). Timing: Tonight into Saturday morning. Discussion: Two weather systems will affect the area over the next two days. The first will move through today bringing near 5 cm (almost 2"
) of snow. The snow will then change to rain or freezing rain tonight as a second and much stronger system begins to move in. Utility outages will be possible for areas that receive freezing rain. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. There remains some uncertainty at this point to the placement of the freezing rain and heavy rainfall. Freezing rain or rainfall warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.

I'm off to North Bay for the monthly shopping trip. Weather wise, so far there is nothing. As for it effecting my medical trip, not likely but if it does I have lots of leeway. Medical not due until 19 April. As long as I have it into the DoT/MTO before the 19th I am good.
The start up meetings aren't really 'that' much of a priority for me, this senior man has suffered through 37 of them without a miss. It is just 16 hours I don't get paid for. I could cover it all in 1/2 a day if it was one on one.

Have a safe day all

Good morning! A warm, partly cloudy, 70˚F with a stout Southerly wind. Temp will rise to 88˚ this afternoon but this evening the wind will change and come from the North bringing the temps down to the 50s.

Yesterday it was misting or light rain all day but we only got .15", just enough to keep me from working outside on the garden stepping stones.

Last day of March, 1/4 of 2023 gone already.

Yup. We are getting much the same, so I don’t think I will be doing any more burning today! Too bad, because effective April 1, we can only burn between 7 PM and 7 AM.

Got a lot done yesterday, however.

Good Morning
28 degrees and going to at least double that.
Yesterday was mostly consumed with the trip to Hilton Head, and arranging for the purchase of a Wille 865 and attachments for one of the county airports. We were offered a grant from the state, but had to act quickly. Spent most of the drive time on the phone, but I think we have it all set up.

Today might be a Costco run and some quality time in the shop, hopefully put the grapple on the tractor and clean up some.

Good morning
41 going to 51 today and cloudy
Finished the dirt moving project yesterday and rough graded the areas with the bucket. Will finish grading with the excavator today.
Wife will give me a much needed haircut later this morning.

The front end loader arms were flexing some when hitting a bump with a fully loaded bucket but everything was fine. Broke the loader arms on MF and had to weld repair them back when cleaning up for rocks.

Here is pic of part of the area that I took the dirt from ready for finish grading and seeding

Weather says it is 41F now but it feels colder than that. Supposed to get up to 60F this afternoon.

I ran up to the farm yesterday. The grocery chain we use has a gas station there. I had $1.10 off a gallon in gas points. That makes the price of gas seem right.

The yard at farm looks OK but there were a lot of small branches down, I spent some time playing pick up sticks. Looks like the farm lane needs mowing so I need to get some no ethanol. On my inspection tour I met a new neighbor. He was cleaning up along the tree line next to the field. I told him if he wanted to cut them all down it wouldn't bother me. Wheat is up a foot in places and then hardly up at all in others.

Breakfast, shower and a haircut. My wahl clipper has saved me a ton of money. That is a good thing because electricity sure has gotten expensive. Solar panels are looking like a better idea.

Take care

Chris
