Scaredy, I use a red bungee cord to tighten up the chains and I guess from the turning those chains seem
to slip the grip and hang down too low once in a while. Small trailer sits pretty close to ground

hope she gets home just fine

they are ALMOST HOME

the chains are not usually dragging - I also use a bungee cord. This time the wiring connection fell out, so that had to be replaced this morning

Usually strawberries don’t produce the first year, at least not much. We always snipped off blooms of first year plants

Annual System of planting Strawberries

"The “annual” system is the system of choice for warmer areas of the south if you are growing strawberries in Austin and central Texas. Plants are set 12 inches apart in a staggered double or triple row from mid September to early November, carried through the winter, harvested in spring (primarily late February through early May), and then plowed under. This leaves the area available for a productive summer garden. Weeds, diseases and pests are minimized and yields can be very high.

A major advantage of the annual system is that plants need not be pampered through the hot, dry, weedy, summer months. Dormant plants from cold storage are used in September planting, while dormant fresh dug plants are used in October-November planting. Occasionally plugs, which are runner tips rooted in transplant trays may be found for sale."

The farms plants the strawberries annually every September/October on double rows. I'll let you know their yields in March.

The Christmas trees are cypress I think Leyland Cypress but have to confirm. They have the first field of 2000 planted two years ago and should be ready to harvest in 2025. The second field has twice as many will be ready 2026. Drought losses appear to be about 10% even though they are irrigated.

Mostly I found my "Wolf Snout" filtering face mask that I used for zero turn dusty mowing. I did not think I'd ever use it again. I won't be wearing the "covid" face mask or getting my face painted, if it still works.

good morning all
going to be a nice day, same temps as Buppies, beautiful Fall day.

still too wet to mow so today will clean out garage, fire up snowblower, getting ready for winter.
Friend coming over this afternoon to help me build that gravel driveway scraper I bought to use at church.

am a little sore from digging yesterday, headed down to hot tub shortly. I had it turned off for three days during all the rain but now
back to 103 and ready for me. I don't need it any hotter, goes to 104, but I start sweating soon enough as is.
I got some ph balancer and need to test strip it and see how that looks.
And as far as test stripping myself....all my labs came back in range and cholesterol in the middle. Whew. And no call back from the oncologist.
Guess I'm good for another ten thousand miles...

be well everyone

Good morning, low temp 35 and the high to 43°F. Wind N 15 gusting to 24 mph. 40% chance of showers.

I am tickled pink that I decided to go to North Bay today. The wood is all wet (surface moisture) and I won't put wet wood into the house. It will dry out again, the temps are supposed to be into the 50s next week.

Went to bed last night at 9 and got up this morning at 5. I think the cold has broken.

When we go shopping, unless there is something specific I want, I stay in the car. Junior does it all.
We alternate on the lunch thing. This month I will 'buy', next time he will 'buy'.
1 full rack of ribs for me with sweet potato fries, whatever the current veggie is as long as it is not corn and no dessert. Don't know what he will have.

The welding that I needed done is done and will be delivered next week. One set of drag disks converted into class 1 3 point. The 'V' plow now has a SSQA mounted on it and the back blade will swivel all the way to the right and angle to 45°. With the BB set up like that I can not only do a better job grading the driveway but I can also wing back my snow banks without doing the herring bone thing every time I want to push 'em back.

I am car/pickup shopping, just not too aggressive about it now.

Stay safe all

Looks like a a great start to the day and weekend.
