Drew,

Seeing the same thing here out in the front lawn.

Bottom end - where I did not put down milky spore - has been torn up really bad. Probably the worst I have ever seen it.

I assume it was by the deer, but could have been skunks or some other critters I suppose.

As far as getting rid of them, you could always try putting down milky spore - it's not a chemical pesticide - just a natural bacteria that will proliferate and spread and kill off the grubs.

Yeah they look to be pretty solid, will see how they hold up.

BTW - never weighed the summer squash ... but we got a good bit of it.

We have a real nice looking Strawberry Crown winter squash I've been meaning to take a picture of to post.

Good morning! 53˚F heading to 90˚.
At the farm they started planting strawberry plants in mid September. They were brought in on flats, they have about 4 leaves on each plant. They sit on a manual planting machine behind the New Holland tractor that pokes holes in the plastic row and then they put the plant in the hole. They were averaging a row a day. The rows are about 1000' long, about two acres. They finally finished planting yesterday. The irrigation system seems to be working good and all the new plants are not wilted in this dry weather. They should be ready to pick in March.

Wngsprd, maybe with the mask the good face painters can come up with something that won't scare the pre-schoolers. I might have to take a character out of Drew's family tractor book. Or just wear a bandana like the cowboys wore in the dusty cattle drives.

Thomas, I hope by now they have treated your wife and she has some relief.

Good Morning Everyone

I'm way behind in thread again, so best shot ... Catching Up Is Hard To Do. Well, okay, more precisely Keeping Up ...

I took the Kimber apart to see if I could lighten the trigger pull. It’s advertised as 7lbs, but mine had a measured average of just about 10lbs. No grittiness,d or creep, just a hard pull.I did get it down to just under 5lbs which is a lot more reasonable. No parts changed, just “tweaked” things a bit.
NOW I know where and how, he gets his name :)

Wife's Birthday today, she's on her way home from Prince George (8 hr trip) with her dad now. So any birthday plans that I had for us are essentially awash, she won't be home until after dinner. She's basically been gone for 11 months, so I had plans for a day out with her, dinner, hotel and catch up time just the 2 of us. The great escape will be delayed. However I did ace it, I think, in the gift department. (and balloons count as blow up toys don't they ? :) - well, that's my story anyway.

I need a nap, or coffee. I think nap is winning. It's still too early to call it morning.

Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 5:30AM.
Sunny to partly cloudy. High 92F. Winds light and variable.

Hoping you get some good news soon, Thomas.

Many of the plastic pallets I've found out here, RS, have been embrittled by the sun and won't take much abuse from a stray pallet fork. But at three bux apiece, they were worth taking a chance.

Chased my tail on paperwork for most of yesterday. For example, got a "bill" from UPS with a two cent credit, the result of some class action lawsuit. Wasted more than two cents worth of time trying to figure that one out.

Putting together some plans for a couple days in the mountains peeping at the changing aspen leaves. I keep meaning to do it every year, but haven't been able to make the time. Maybe this is the year?

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good Morning

49 going to 74 and NO rain in the forecast

Going to town to fill up with diesel. Prices are going up soon due to OPEC cut in production

Grass needs to be mowed. May do a portion today

Tinkered a little with the chainsaw yesterday. I may check the crankcase for leaks as Popgadget had suggested.

Daughter with tax problems for 2018 got it figured out. The tax expert for foreign income earned her money. That year she had a mix of foreign income from several countries as well as US income making it very complicated

Other daughter with rent problems is getting it settled today and starts her 3 days a week second job as waitress. She has done this before and is very charming with customers earning her good tips

Picked up some lumber from HD yesterday for the wood shed

Good Morning.
46 going to 70 under a sunny sky today. We got just over 4” of rain from the 4 day rain event. It’s going to take a few days of sun to get things dry enough to mow though.

Yesterday worked out well, got the scope rail off my friends Rifle by drilling out the offending screw. It’s amazing to me how many times things like this could be eliminated if people just used quality tools, or recognized the limitations of the tools that they have as well as their own skills. RNG’s comments about PO’s come to mind.

Still have to get a suit for son’s wedding, not high on my list of things that I want to do, but running out of time. Maybe today.

Not much else planned for today, have to wait for tomorrow to see what happened.

50°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 80° today. Watched some rain moving towards us on radar yesterday evening, then dissipate before it reached us. Typical of this year. When I left the house this morning, there were small puddles on the roads, so I guess we got something this early morning.

After walking the trash can back up from the road yesterday evening, I grabbed a rake and fixed the ruts in the driveway. My best guess at how it happened sat on a bench by the sunroom and watched.

Hope your wife is feeling better, Thomas.

Skunks are pretty efficient at tearing up turf, Drew.

Good morning, gents.

69°F and 1,63 inches rain. Definitely needed it.

No distractions today. Should be a good project day.

First looking forward to a nice malasada with my coffee. Choice of chocolate, mango, pineapple, or apple filled. I’ll let Sophie chose first but no losers. Yesterday I had Bavarian crème and she had Cherry.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon, the temp now is a balmy 60 and it is supposed to get to 63°F. Wind WSW 7 mph. A chance of T-showers.

Yesterday I went to bed about 8 P.M. in preparation for the trip to Markham. I coughed my butt off and flipped and flopped around the bed like a fish out of water. At midnight I surrendered and fired up the truck, went the the lot where I hide the wagons and a 30 minute circle check and I was off like a herd of turtles. I hit the big street at 1 A.M. and at 5 A.M. I had the 276 kms (172 miles) done and I was waiting for one of the day shift guys to vacate a parking spot so I could back in.
Pulling doubles is fun, but they can be a p.i.t.a to back up, kinda like pushing a chain. Keep in mind that I insist that all three units are EXACTLY straight as a die. I am fussy that way, so sue me.

Grabbed a 2 hour power nap while waiting for the manager, had a chat with him over the fact that I cannot pin the pup with my tractor due to the tractor being too long and what needed to be done to solve that problem. (Just move the 5th wheel back farther, mount and all). Got a couple of other things off my chest and off to home I went. Got home at noon.

Once I hit the big street again (north bound) did a steady 130 kms/hour (80 mph) and according to the computer in the Journey a steady 30.2 miles/US gallon.

Now I can get on with my 8 months of holidays.

Happy Birthday Scaredys better half.

Stay safe all
