yup, I hope that there are no other issues

daugen
they are still on the road, hours from home.
THAT ROUND adaptor is what they lost along the way
the safety chains should be fine (she dragged the ones from the larger trailer, on a previous trip :) )
the 4 pin that we had would lock in and strap over with a band to keep it together
this light duty trailer wiring connector is damaged from dragging, now replaced with new (at a shop)

she's a smart woman, she'll get here

Scaredy, I use a red bungee cord to tighten up the chains and I guess from the turning those chains seem
to slip the grip and hang down too low once in a while. Small trailer sits pretty close to ground

hope she gets home just fine

The T-storms that were forecast have arrived.

I got a quote from the garage I deal with for a new class IV reciever hitch plus the 7 wire connector. Not happy with a $1400.oo quote just to haul garbage to the dump. So we will install the hitch $250.oo+labour+tax and skip the light cord plug. Of course there is also a 15,000 lb hitch and pintle hook to go on, too.

Congrats on the new Mazda, BEF. Was thinking of you yesterday while in the mountains.

Finished hiking the A/T in Shenandoah National Park yesterday both North to South and South to North. My wife went with me...she attended a Ranger program about bears, then explored the visitor center and gift shop while I was hiking. We concluded with a celebratory lunch at the lodge and split a serving of their famous blackberry cobbler with a scoop of blackberry ice cream. The day started out windy, cloudy and cold, but cleared and became very comfortable. We saw lots of lenticular clouds and deer.

.

Congrats on the AT hiking. Quite a milestone. Wish I was hiking.
Haven’t heard anything from credit union today concerning vehicle. Since loan was preapproved, it should be easy.

They finally finished planting yesterday. The irrigation system seems to be working good and all the new plants are not wilted in this dry weather. They should be ready to pick in March.

Usually strawberries don’t produce the first year, at least not much. We always snipped off blooms of first year plants.

Good morning. Upper 50's, dry in central Ohio. Couldn't ask for a better start to harvest this past week. Thank the Lord.

Welcome to TBN and GM.

I have family in central Ohio, being an old buckeye.

Thank the Lord always!!

sigh
long chat with Ellen, Randy/Toppop's widow.
Randy was in poor health for a long time, diabetes, heart disease, could not get diabetes under control, then
his heart had serious problems so this summer they put in a pacemaker and a month or two later he died of a heart attack.
This is the second husband who has died on Ellen and we talked about that, did my best to send the love and affection of 30+ plus guys to
her, and she seemed very pleased about that.
She is living with her Dad and has family nearby so she is ok. She knows she can call me anytime.
She seemed sad but upbeat, best that could be expected. Strong woman, grateful to her for taking such good care of our friend.

Last night my wife mentioned she has never been to ocean city. Tonight when I came home, I told her we are going tomorrow. I’ll stop by work long enough to turn in computer and badge, it’s right on the way. My boss said I could do it today, but I thought I’d do it tomorrow.

I say this because we will be going right by where Randy lived. I always wanted to meet up sometime, we talked about it, but it never happened. Missing him.
Thanks for the update from Ellen, has to be really hard for her.

Yes, Sodamo, there is a Good Morning Thread in Heaven
(Sung to the tune of Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus)

Sodamo wistfully wondered if there was a Good Morning thread/TBN in Heaven. Many have pondered this, hoping that it would be true, that in that great ever after there would be a way for those with Tractoritis to share their intellect and experience with others. To share their daily habits and experiences with those in similar situations and to help the unfortunate DYI mechanics to maintain their steeds.

I like to believe that there is such a thread. A thread in a place where all tractors start at the first turn of the key, tractors that produce the horsepower that they were built with, without the need for DEF, DPF, or any other annoying, unnecessary electronics. The operators can ride and work with these tools with joy, knowing that the ultimate safety switch is protecting them, that the hand of God is close to shield them, even though in this perfect place it is not needed. For these tractors and implements run perfectly all the time, no matter the manufacturer. They do still require maintenance, but only if the operator wishes for that.

See, I like to think that some of us like to do regular maintenance, (oil changes, greasing, checking the air in the tires), tinker, tweak, fabricate, and build. There is personal satisfaction in that. But now the weather is always ideal for the task at hand. No more rolling in the mud to get to the drain plug, chipping the ice away from that grease fitting, no too wet to plow. But there are drawbacks.

The grass is always green. So those bush hogs, flail mowers, and belly mowers can have constant use. The soil is always ready to till, so no worries about wet dirt not rolling off the blade, hanging up in the tines of the rototiller. The days are always perfect for turning and baling hay, putting down stone, or cleaning out ditches.

Days where RNG’s van always starts and purrs like a kitten, Don has no dust to contend with on his rides, the deer don't destroy Drew's yard and garden, Bird doesn’t have to water the lawn nor mow in high temperatures, David’s building projects all go off without a hitch.

All of our ailments are absent, our health is good. Our loved ones and friends are present. We can choose to work with our tractors and on our projects, or we can choose to sit on the porch for that day, to admire the work we did the day before, and plan the next days adventure.

And still have time to go on the Good Morning thread, share our adventures, read others adventures, and stay caught up to the current page. With the best internet service. (Edit - Oh, and the diesel fuel is cheap!)

This I believe.
Very well said you are truly a scholar and gentleman. May God bless

they are ALMOST HOME

the chains are not usually dragging - I also use a bungee cord. This time the wiring connection fell out, so that had to be replaced this morning

Usually strawberries don’t produce the first year, at least not much. We always snipped off blooms of first year plants

Annual System of planting Strawberries

"The “annual” system is the system of choice for warmer areas of the south if you are growing strawberries in Austin and central Texas. Plants are set 12 inches apart in a staggered double or triple row from mid September to early November, carried through the winter, harvested in spring (primarily late February through early May), and then plowed under. This leaves the area available for a productive summer garden. Weeds, diseases and pests are minimized and yields can be very high.

A major advantage of the annual system is that plants need not be pampered through the hot, dry, weedy, summer months. Dormant plants from cold storage are used in September planting, while dormant fresh dug plants are used in October-November planting. Occasionally plugs, which are runner tips rooted in transplant trays may be found for sale."

The farms plants the strawberries annually every September/October on double rows. I'll let you know their yields in March.

The Christmas trees are cypress I think Leyland Cypress but have to confirm. They have the first field of 2000 planted two years ago and should be ready to harvest in 2025. The second field has twice as many will be ready 2026. Drought losses appear to be about 10% even though they are irrigated.

Mostly I found my "Wolf Snout" filtering face mask that I used for zero turn dusty mowing. I did not think I'd ever use it again. I won't be wearing the "covid" face mask or getting my face painted, if it still works.

Prayers for all our Country

good morning all
going to be a nice day, same temps as Buppies, beautiful Fall day.

still too wet to mow so today will clean out garage, fire up snowblower, getting ready for winter.
Friend coming over this afternoon to help me build that gravel driveway scraper I bought to use at church.

am a little sore from digging yesterday, headed down to hot tub shortly. I had it turned off for three days during all the rain but now
back to 103 and ready for me. I don't need it any hotter, goes to 104, but I start sweating soon enough as is.
I got some ph balancer and need to test strip it and see how that looks.
And as far as test stripping myself....all my labs came back in range and cholesterol in the middle. Whew. And no call back from the oncologist.
Guess I'm good for another ten thousand miles...

be well everyone

Good morning, low temp 35 and the high to 43°F. Wind N 15 gusting to 24 mph. 40% chance of showers.

I am tickled pink that I decided to go to North Bay today. The wood is all wet (surface moisture) and I won't put wet wood into the house. It will dry out again, the temps are supposed to be into the 50s next week.

Went to bed last night at 9 and got up this morning at 5. I think the cold has broken.

When we go shopping, unless there is something specific I want, I stay in the car. Junior does it all.
We alternate on the lunch thing. This month I will 'buy', next time he will 'buy'.
1 full rack of ribs for me with sweet potato fries, whatever the current veggie is as long as it is not corn and no dessert. Don't know what he will have.

The welding that I needed done is done and will be delivered next week. One set of drag disks converted into class 1 3 point. The 'V' plow now has a SSQA mounted on it and the back blade will swivel all the way to the right and angle to 45°. With the BB set up like that I can not only do a better job grading the driveway but I can also wing back my snow banks without doing the herring bone thing every time I want to push 'em back.

I am car/pickup shopping, just not too aggressive about it now.

Stay safe all

48 outside this AM. Heading to upper 70's.

Looks like a a great start to the day and weekend.

On the Wolf Snout you can go to their web site directly and get kit.

This has been the most difficult week of my life. One day, one hour at a time.
