Here’s the course that my neighbor put in-

And here’s a drone video I made of one of the car shows there. There was once a dragstrip there, it’s now used as a private runway.

I saw this when looking around, looks like a worthy addition to almost any mechanics tool box.

Sure.... now you post an inexpensive set..... after I fought to get the bearing out! :););)

Successful day! Transfer case back in, Jeep is drivable! The clanking noise heard before the rebuild is gone. Ran it through the 4wd ranges, working fine. Brakes work great, transmission shifting great. Only one more thing to do... change the gear oil in the front differential. If the oil in there is as bad as the rear oil, it's long overdue.

2 out of 3 of my kids think you just have to take a vehicle to Jiffy Lube every few thousand miles.... I have tried to teach them that maintenance can be a good deal more than just oil changes... maybe some day.....

Since I had the mechanic hat on, our little go-getter car decided that it wanted some love too...... It was a bit chilly this morning when I went to run an errand, so decided to turn up the heat a little. The darn temperature control decided to give up.... won't turn without a bunch of crunching!

The parts breakdown shows it is one 'module' containing the A/C switch, blower switch, temp switch, defrost switch, fresh air / recirculating switch. Checked with Nissan parts ---- $415 -- WHAT.?? I wonder what they would charge to put it in! My guess the total would be around $800.

Found a used one at a salvage yard in Ft. Worth. $60 shipped with a 1 year warranty. It should be here by Thursday.

Roy, I hope you have avoided the alligoritis! Hope your daughter gets well soon!

BEF, hope your land search finds you a suitable property.

Drew, that's amazing the amaryllis bloomed down in the basement. Strong stock!

David, take your time on the cleanout project. Those types of jobs always morph into bigger projects.

M7040, is that a pic of your house? Beautiful if it is....

Time to go relax....
Everyone have a great evening!

Good evening.

Got the winter firewood straightened out and covers are up to protect the wood. More to split likely tomorrow.

Then finished the wiring on the Kawasaki race bike. I “saved“ the harness it originally had to get it running. Long term plan is to modify another stock harness, I need this one as a pattern. Not my favorite loom material, but it is functional.

Have a good evening.

!

Thanks.
This area in VA is better for us in the long run. The WV land is very pretty, but only one grocery store and tsc close. Walmart, Lowe’s or HD is close to an hour away. In the winter, it could get rough.

At this VA lot, at least 2 Walmart’s within 20 minutes, and so much more shopping wise. Also no shared road.

Wife wanted to go tomorrow, but I got busy at work today and can’t go tomorrow. BTW, I’m down to 4 weeks before new job.
I did ask for a well quote, and will call another driller tomorrow. Real estate guy sent me the perc info. 4 BR conventional system.
I’m also car shopping. Would like to get that done before new job. Looking at Mazda CX-5.

House at bottom is end of the road. Road comes down right side then goes below the lot. Over half woods. Hill top up in the woods, but not big elevation gain.
AT and blue ridge parkway is near. Perc in upper field area. Electric at the road, both right and bottom sides.

58F and "Fair" @ 22:15, heading down to a low of 57F overnight. Good chance of showers developing after midnight.

Spent some time on the phone calling around for prices, mix of good news and not-so-good news: found a good source on 1's and 2's at a reasonable price (half the price of the guys I normally have used), ready-mix is ... rather pricey ... right now ... :(

Found out the one ready-mix supplier I contacted does not have their own pumper trucks but did get a couple of names of companies to contact so will need to follow up.

Got hopper and 1 suet feeder refilled first thing after I went outside.

Really too wet to work down around the barn so decided to screen that clay.

Dropped a bucketload of screened compost/manure in the depression where the old apple tree was:

IMG_1991 copy.jpg

Woman spread that out with the bow rake and I ran over it with the Kubota to compact it. Still needs another bucketload and some additional work before it gets seeded.

Got a little better than half the pile of clay screened and moved down to the barn:

IMG_1992 copy.jpg

Probably finish screening the rest of it tomorrow and move it down.

Woman ran out and got more gas and diesel and took the garbage up to the can at the road while she was at it.

With the rain and cooler temps the grass is growing really fast, will probably mow again tomorrow.

On one of my last trips back up Mom and the three kids were out looking for tasty treats. Ended up getting pretty close to them before they scattered and headed off towards the front yard.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

David, take your time on the cleanout project. Those types of jobs always morph into bigger projects.

Already did, Ted. This will be measured in weeks, not days with a complete go thru all areas, inside and out. Already got a false start a couple of time with just the idea of picking up and then next day get distracted. Not this time. Could still morph bigger as I do have my eye on Sophie’s suggest to add more roof, but wouldn’t think of doing that until the rest is in order.

Good early (Tuesday) evening and I'm back from Launceston. Spring may be 'in the air' but Winter reminded that it's not gone yet with an early morning Low of -0.5C. The light frost quickly dissipated under a clear sky and light breeze. Cool day with a top of 13C. The roads were dry & clear for the mid-morning drive.

And the visit to the Big Smoke went surprisingly quick! Basically a few minutes in each of the 'shops' to get the things that I wanted or answers to questions... I still had over 2 hours left on my parking docket. :D

Take care all.

Any that you can recommend? Most of us have legs that are getting older.
In my case I have a problem with the knee cap on the left leg not tracking correctly causing pain when walking and especially stepping up on stairs. Strengthening muscles around the knee can help pull it into alignment. I picked a few exercises to focus on in the beginning and that has helped to where I can walk without pain and has also improved my ability to walk on stairs and my balance. I would say look at a few videos and pick a few of the activities to focus on and stick with it until you see improvements in strength and balance

67 outside this AM. Rain came through yesterday. It was a soaker event. Then more last night. Should be around upper 70's today. Need to move some animals around so that the roofers don't get bothered tomorrow.

Not much else on the agenda.

Last night while feeding the animals I stopped and watched the sun set. It was worth it, but the grass needs to be cut.....again. LOL.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

Good Morning, 64F going to 75 today. No rain in the forecast. Not much is planned today other the normal household activities.
Got the bivalent booster shot yesterday at our recently completed library in our small town Myersville.
One of the original Trolley cars that ran between Frederick and Hagerstown was restored and placed inside the library. The trolley car dates back to the early 1900's. The rail line for the trolley actually ran across our farm land. The farm at the time was over 200 acres and included the area with highway 40 and the rail line running parallel to it
