Kyle, I know a good DR. in College station that did one surgery on my knee. He said it would help, and it did for years, but that I would eventually need a replacement, which I did.

Good Morning
It’s 75 and we should see 90 today with high humidity will be uncomfortable outside.

Yesterday I managed to get all the propane tanks filled, I take them to a friends place, and pay by the gallon rather a flat rate per tank, saves quite a bit. He also had the teeth for the free auger as well as the pilot bit.

Ran some other errands, when I brought the trash and recycling toters up the lane I was looking at how they sit on the carryall and decided to add some blocks to get them farther from the rear wheels. They are held in place with lag bolts from the inside.

IMG_9558.jpg

They ride much better now.

Had a good time playing music and hanging out with “the boys” last night.

No real plan for today, might take the biplane out for a ride, but no definite plan.

Wife is continuing to improve, she is getting about 5000 steps a day. I’m in charge of all lifting, bending and carrying for now though.

65° right now...high in the mid 70's.

Didn't get near the rain predicted yesterday...reckon Thomas got our share...

Not enough to bother with a dump run. Reckon I'll see what I can do with the downed branch and maybe mow this afternoon

successful trip to Napa in Doylestown. Same Legend battery I bought ten years ago for 120 is now 180. plus plus
If I'm still around in ten years, I will be utterly delighted to put another battery in this old girl.
800/650cca ought to be plenty for a 23hp twin. 44 pounds mighty heavy for me.
my friend had installed some new wiring for a smart trickle charger to the battery.
Problem is this second hand battery he put in must have been taken out of somewhere else for a reason.
So I have to take apart some foreign wiring, will make sure everything gets shot of DeOxit before it goes back, and then battery spray on top.

looking forward to a vroommmm, and not a click click click

this is the fun stuff for me.
once new battery is in and that done, then new blades and a thorough grease job.
Going to lift it up on mower lift, one that picks up front tires. And yes I will use jackstands.
6 tons each. That should do it... :sneaky:

I've been so busy, the days fly by at my new job. Playing "Whack-a-mole". I look at my watch just to check if I have another meeting to be at in a different room. But I love it, my knees not so much. I told my wife, I need a "mindless task weekend". I'm thinking of asking my physician at my physical next week, what it takes to get a handicap card. My knees have been in multiple incidents and my right knee is getting painful when climbing or descending stairs...I'm wondering what the parameters are for getting one is? Does anyone take shark cartilage supplements? GNC NATURAL BRAND SHARK CARTILAGE, 90ct - GNC Guam

Wow! If I ever change occupations to being a plumber, I'm moving up there. He's the only one who can afford a house up there (that's not "old money").

Glad to hear your wifey is doing so well after her surgery. Hope she continues to get better.

Glad your wifey is feeling better and back home. I like to see your progress on the bike. If you look closely, you can see some Bultaco thru the kawi frame :)

That's a BIG aside PJS....a BIG aside.

I miss riding motorcycles with my old friends back in my hometown.

Wow, prayers for that situation...and for pUtIn to get his head on straight.

Prayers for you and your wifey.

Stock market went down DJI -1000. today...about 3-4% in one day. Glad it doesn't affect me.

We only got .08" of rain, still have large cracks in ground.

I consider you all to be good friends. And I miss those that are not posting here. Maybe they'll reconsider having left, if they know we are missing them? Just a thought...

I come here for the friendship, knowledge, stories and great pics! Watch out for those hornets Billy, you might have to outrun that buck getting away. I would want dual 32oz size cans of Raid wasp spray in both hands, with 2 more backups in each cargo pocket.

Drew, much better bits, with the split point grind, but I didn't see the key word I look for "Hss-Cobalt". They say High Molybdenum, not sure where that stands in the scheme of steels. Chicago-Latrobe. Nachi makes a good bit too. Some bits are crazy expensive and I'd only recommend if you were in a production situation making money. Look up an OSG SuS drill...as with anything, good drilling starts with a rigid setup, and the force HP necessary to push the drill to make chips while blasting coolant. At my former job just making small quantities in a prototype situation, I babied drills and took small pecks. But I didn't have to buy replacement drills every time I needed to drill a hole....and they wondered why I was so picky about who went into my toolcrib....

Prayers for Bupps and wife, Popgadget's wife, Randy, LS4, mostly's wife, Dave and Sophie, those in silent need, our country and Ukraine.
Kyle,

I've had good luck with mineral ice ointment. And turmeric supplement pills. And arnica, which I heard of on here.

We got back from Maine Sunday. Long drive but well worth it. There is a reason so many people head for Maine in the summer. It is cool in the morning. It warms up afternoon and Cools off around dinner time. There are way more stars in the sky in Deer Isle than here in Lancaster. I saw 7 shooting stars looking out the bedside window. The air smells nice up there at night. The Tundra did the job but I bet we bought more then $1200 worth of gas. We took the sailboat and 4 kayaks. Definitely a great place for boats. We saw a lot of wildlife. Seals and dolphins, bald eagles and ospreys. There is a mink living on the lot and we heard coyotes at night. I saw a fin swimming around the neighbors dock. He took a boat out for a closer look. It was an ocean sunfish. Surely a strange fish. It was a great way to spend some time with our Daughters. They are never too busy to visit us in Maine. We had a great time.

This being Tractorbynet I thought that I should show you a tractor. They were trimming along the power lines. Nutty thing was they were they were cutting from the hot wire down. I thought it would make more sense to cut the branches hanging over above the power lines. Turns out they were working for the phone company. They are getting ready to run fiber optic cable to the whole island. That machine was the loudest machine I have heard. They left the branches where the fell. My wife and I spent a day dragging branches to the branch pile. Sure would be nice to have a chipper up there.

Chris

Now that we are back from Maine it is back to mowing but I bet I could have not hired a guy to mow for me. It is so dry here the grass is hardly growing. The corn at the farm looks hammered. I wonder what kind of crop the farmer will get. I did mow the farm lane. The wet spots were pretty long. One of the meadows is waist high but the other one is ankle high. There are a lot of leaves down. Garden is pretty sad. All the good tomatoes are gone and the cherry tomatoes have taken over and we never planted them. My wife has started some lettuce. I'm not sure how that will work.

It is pretty hot here. If we were smart we would figure out how to stay in Maine all summer especially if it keeps getting hotter.

It will be a while if I ever catch up here.

Chris, cool pictures, thanks. That's the same power line machine that came up semi private road next to me, lopping off tops of all the pine trees.
I found 3-6 foot xmas trees everywhere. Yeah, they sure didn't pick them up either.

great success on new battery. Instant vrooom. Gave connections some care, need to redo some terminal ends but realized no terminal ends or crimpers. One more
thing that got sold. Ok, will order a set online and not the cheapy combos either. I used to own one of those 80 dollar crimpers that made the most satisfying click when you got it just right.
not getting that one any more. Most crimp connectors are pretty lightweight and junky. I used to have some of the ones with gel in them. Not sure it helped but seemed like a good idea for farm stuff.

the oem battery straps are long gone, but my friend showed great creativity by stuffing those pipe insulation pieces in there. Works perfectly, snug as can be with a tiny bit of give.

RNG note build date on battery. I hunted around for freshest one...

now back out to grease after lunch.
Can see now with flashlight down into steering parts, no zerk there, but I have white grease in a spray can with a long nozzle and that gets down into the gearing.
Over the years I've squirted a lot of oil down there.
those hydraulic lines still look good, original to 1986. Wonder if I should get new ones made or just wait for a leak.
The leak will never be critical because this machine is not critical, it's like having an old car in the garage.
They are only to pick up the mower deck, not like hoses to FEL.

Lou, you have an really old hydraulic hoses that are just fine?
I look for cracks, don't see any. But could things be decomposing inside?

68°F and .26 inches rain.

Off to a meeting of Big Island Retired Military Association later this morning. Only their 2nd meeting since pandemic and my 1st. Will be nice to see some old friends, all older too a difference sort of location. Baumkuchenfarm | Original Hawaiian Baumkuchen should be interesting.

Then a quick trip into town.

Wx permitting will get another couple hours with the flail.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Nice pics guys.

I spent last evening here
IMG_5931.JPG

If they would just put the stadium out of the city. 4 guys from work went, company tickets. Guy I rode with parked about 5 blocks away and a good walk to stadium. They are building huge condo or apartment buildings everywhere around there. Got home after midnight.
While I enjoyed the game, would rather have been hiking with wngsprd or up in Maine. Although I remember flies being bad in Maine. What gorgeous pictures.
Twist my arm and I’d even help David mow in Hawaii.

Painted the remaining panels for the shed, now sitting on porch waiting for it to dry.
Feels nice sitting, slight breeze but very humid. I was dripping sweat on my glasses painting even with sweat band on.
Don’t think I’ll get them installed today, too hot in the sun.

Scaredy, always liked the "whale" Impala.
Nice one is worth 4k today. SS worth 25k.
Big comfy car. Police loved them, big and good handling.
Small block V8 or fairly powerful V6, either a good engine.
glad you had fun

It is an SS ... nice car

he also has a 2020 Corvette, but there is no way that I would easily get in / out of that one

the burnout competition was ridiculous :) mostly trucks, but after the 2nd participant we'd had enough. I would have waited for the Gremlin X, but they didn't enter the contest

. Still pondering how to drill through the stone foundation wall being 24 inch thick?

I have been most successful with a chipping hammer, removing the mortar and taking the stones out to get through the wall. That takes about the same time time as fixturing a diamond core drill rig to the wall. The core drill does a much nicer job, but is time consuming and expensive if you rent one.
I have had very little success using a rotary hammer and bits to drill through the stone, but that depends greatly on the stone.

Here is a pic of the wall on which I want to mount the fuse box for the mini split condenser unit. About 24 inch thick. My regular hammer drill will not do that for sure. So need to buy borrow SDS hammer drill and get a drill bit long enough. Only need it big enough for 12 gauge 2 conductor with ground since it only draws 15 amp at 220 volt. Not sure if I should drill big enough to sleeve it or just push through and seal it?IMG_0959.jpeg

64°F and mostly sunny skies this morning, going up to 88° today. Already 85° at noon.

Got the Cub Cadet push trimmer out this morning and attacked the massive growth around the burn pile, the berm dirt pile, and along the north side outside the pasture fence. Neighbor doesn't mow back there, so I take a couple passes with the trimmer to keep the growth off our fence, which he's fine with. Some of the stuff on that side is over six feet tall. I haven't trimmed back there since early summer, and even along the fence it was three to four feet. It's a walkable path now.

No wind today, so I was a sweaty mess after that. Called it a day out there. Probably need to do some mowing tomorrow. The rest of today will be inside stuff.

Good afternoon, gents.

I had the towable lift for two days. Boy those are nice.
Been thinking about renting one of those to replace my yard light. Probably less expensive than paying an electrician to come out and do it. Besides, we paid so much to the electrician who completely rewired our house that he retired and moved to Maui.

/ Good morning!!!! #155,020
worked three more hours in heat, that's all I had in me. Came in and all clothes went splat on the floor.
new blades installed, everything carefully greased, naturally first time I pulled the trigger I heard that poofing sounds that means
you are out of luck/grease. Had one more cartridge of the JD green grease, in that went. Clashes horribly with Gravely red,
downright Christmaslike...

failed on the new gasoline filter. Inlets too big, need to get a smaller filter. I'll give it to someone with bigger machinery.
Old one was way oversized also, after four years, really didn't need changing but I figure the element starts to come apart
after awhile.
