Down to 86° now from our high of 92°, which is not our yearly high of 94° set back in May. I think we will set a new number in the next couple days.

Drew, all the screws are ready for installation. They will get dragged across of bar soap just prior to being installed.

Yea, our pups are quite spoiled and laid back. They have a very good life.

Keep us informed on details of the screw job.
I've a ~30x60 roof that is metal screwed to metal. About 5 years ago I put dabs of roofing tar around a bunch of the leakers but I'd like to do a rescrew job. It's flat enough that I can put a lawn chair on it so I'm thinking of sitting in a low chair and doing it over a number of fall days when the weather is good. (Not 100°F like is forecast for the almost the rest of the summer here in Mississippi)

And your "pups" look very intelligent and pleased that you were so easy to train.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!

I got a call this morning from my mom. She went to the ER last night with breathing troubles. She has some fluid on her lungs. Giving her Lasix and Prednisone so far. She'll be 93 in 2 1/2 weeks. She hasn't smoked since 1989 or so.

That's one of my prime tools (a come-along) for manual moving of big heavy things. What is the Aus translation?
They're called that here also, or at least, the salesman knew that it was called that. I'd never heard of one before, let alone seen one.
---------------------------------------

So, good (Friday) morning. A mild Winter's overnight Low of 5.4C. It's overcast and somewhat calm. Presently 11C, heading to 13C.

I'll need to head into town somewhat soon as a 'drop off' is coming to the Church's Shed. (Edit: Cancelled, maybe Monday)

Not much else on for today... but you never know. Take care all.

Good Afternoon All

Once again I am 2 days and 10 pages behind. It's been hot (32 C) and busy ... trips into town, critter care, too hot to weed whack, washing / selling eggs, some office work, paying bills, checking on the progress with my zero turn fabricationg, sorting out scraps food pickup, Salv Army runs. Just made the dog an omelette from the ripe produce, meats, and non-saleable / non-useable eggs. (I think it was a hit) :) Now I'm taking a break and catching up. Cleared about 10 sf of the garage, and now starting another load for a dump run. Hoping to pick up some free pallets tomorrow, so I can't fill the truck just yet. I have a possibility of buying some 10 foot farming fence panels with wire mesh, they connect together nicely, and are portable ... would be useful here.

sodamo - all the best with the new d/w, love the pups

wagtail - that church shed sure keeps you busy, sawzalls (like coffee) have the power for good or not good :)

Rich B1 - good luck with the trailer, the sawzall could be handy also, if you ride 36 hours northwest, I'll take you to my buddy's vintage motorcycle museum.

Jim S - they now call it climate change (because it can mean anything) and can't be argued, Global Warming created problems ... all about $$$ imo

mostly_gas - "less accented English" that's a great phrase, works for some of my Dutch relatives also

LS - we are in a bit of extended heat wave here in BC also, 32 / 33 C, low 90s F but feels hotter

BEF - not good re tractor news, hope things improve, Feel Better - nosebleeds are not fun. i get them regularly, but i've broken my nose several times, that probably doesn't help me much

Buppies and rswyan - greetings from BC

daugen - even the dog is complaining of the heat here, and the chickens don't like it either. expired groundhogs can still be hauled away ... just saying (other creative methodmaybe). praying the procedure went well

PJSprog / kenmbz / RNG / Popgadget - I have vinyl, CDs, and also 8-tracks for in the El Camino. I am so old school - ha

LS - nice to connect with sister, my sibs are quite far away

txdon - thats a nice spread, and nice flowers. I missed what WFPD refers to though

Kyle - HBD2U :)

riptides - nice work, i have some fencing needs but they are not first priority

RoyJ - hail, hsil, the gang;s all (t)here

wngsprd - great photos, love sun rays

LouNY - you need to experience a liitle western with your country music, maybe even some rockabilly :) I'd find some Bob Seger, Sass Jordan, Ashley Cleveland for your list... :)

Thomas - that is a long day for a part-time job, your door is too far away for me right now but thanks for the invite

Newbury - pretty funny stuff

That's it for now, I'm probably still not caught up, but I need munchies.

74° now dew point 71° the worst of the thunderstorms and wind went north and south of us, but we did get .41” rain.

To hot and humid to get anything done outside today, see what tomorrow brings.

Kyle, prayers for your mom.
happy belated birthday also

Good evening all. 83ºF for the start, overcast, light breeze. Light wind today, Overcast with periods of light rain, high temp was 93ºF. HI 100ºF, low temp at noon and was 73ºF. Was going to start with Bike ride, but rained enough to get road wet. Ended up watching recorded news and YouTube. Went to Costco, and lunch, napped after stuff put away. Went to fish club meeting tonight.
Kyle Happy birthday, hope you get you tools at work lined out. Good luck avoiding the alligators :)
Dennis glad you don't have our heat.
Randy(wag) kinda far to go for an auction.
Roy glad family home safely.
Drew sorry about the required fasting, is that because you asked them for more potent pain control in the procedure.
Mike hope you can give fingers a break before finish the rest of the trimming, and can work out some seat time in A/C.
Billy glad blade swap out worked. It is the humidity that gets me faster than the heat. Nice sunset
Don thanks for the fun fact. We were cloudy so missed the triple digit temps.
Ken sorry about the short trimmer stint. Large hornets nest, good luck getting it.
RNG is fairing has vent it will help, mine did not :(
PJ good to see you getting rain and breaks from the heat. Also good to hear you getting studio time.

RS good to hear parts in soon.

72F and clear @ 11:00, headed down to a low of around 69F overnight.

Gives me the mental image of you "Flintstoning" your tractor :) Like one of the cartoon characters drawn by Drew's brother.

My legs are pretty long ... but maybe not quite that long ... ;)

It's official: the B2910 is once again mobile ... and under it's own power:

IMG_1883 copy.jpg

Haven't welded up the access hole in the center frame yet, so if it gets driven ya really gotta make sure yer shoelaces are well tied up and don't get near that hole where you can see the front axle drive shaft and u-joint assembly a-spinnin' ...

Just drove it down to the house and back up to the shop for a test drive, all seemed normal.

Oddly enough, did not see any leakage out of the steering knuckles. Be curious to see how they look in the morning. That project may get delayed until a rainy day.

Did notice the back ball-joint on the drag link was dripping grease though ... so replacement of the rubber boots will be timely.

In any event, I still plan to give it a good bath tomorrow ... mainly because it's going to be hot out (89F) which should help drying things off/out.

Did get a good bit of clean up done in the shop after I moved it out, still a long ways to go though. No welding done however.

Also located the tractor-side half of the PTO shaft for the tiller, was in the stationary tub. Took that down and verified that it was for the tiller and left it down there.

Think I might go ahead and adjust the slip clutch on the tiller and at least start to get the rest of the garden area tilled up after the Kubota gets it's bath and get the soil microbes busy on digesting the grease and goo. Better late than never ... ;)

If that comes to pass, I'll probably work on getting the frame for the soil screen finished and get the corner of the hardware cloth for it welded where it came loose.

Grass is starting to get pretty long and could stand a haircut though ... so that may figure into the agenda as well. But I still have another day (or two) after tomorrow to get it cut before the rains return.

Best wishes for Kyle's Moms.

Good night all.

Up way way too early...

64° right now...high in the upper 80's

That severe thunderstorm prediction was a bust, at least for here (central Vermont). All we got was a bit of wind for, maybe, 15 minutes and a sprinkle. We'll see how Thomas made out since he's about 30 miles south of us

All pretty quiet, otherwise...

   / Good morning!!!! #153,494
up too early also Roy.
woke up twice last night soaked in sweat, had to keep turning down a/c
this heat isn't going away, hot through next Tuesday

was thinking of mowing lawn but it's so dry and hot out think I'll pass. Lawn is browning in spots and looking wilted anyway.
Watering of bushes and veggies done daily. At least we have plenty of water to use. As Wngsprd says, it's summertime.
trying to remember to drink a sports drink every couple of days, not just water.

maybe read my book a little, enjoying first cup of coffee.
Enjoying but not thrilled. Tried some Amazon brand coffee
Happy Belly supreme blend. Only ok. Like opening a big Chock Full of Nuts can.
there is a taste I can only describe as "wood chips" that remind me of inexpensive coffee.
Maybe why Peets and other brands are twice as expensive.

Been up since 3:30 leg cramps very hot here, the bell is tolling for me

Happy Birthday Kyle

Prayers for all

I've enjoyed my Nespresso 'Vertuo' machine and coffees for years. The capsules are perfect for the specified sizes and deliver a lovely crème, especially on the 'mug size'.

Life's too short for bad coffee and I order my 'tubes' of coffee online. WRT tea, I order online from a company called "T2".

68 outside this AM. Heading to mid 90's. Still humid.

Yesterday was not too productive. More weed whacking fence lines. I stayed in the same shirt all day. Ugh. I managed to get into the tractor, ahhhh, that was so nice. I did all the trails, really slow. Enjoyed the A/C.

Today, moving up towards the barns and outbuildings with the weed whacker. Then pool time.

Hope all have a great day. TGIF. Stay cool, hydrated and safe.

None of us know coffee better than Wngsprd. If he could chime in here and suggest what he would buy if he wasn't grinding his own, lot of us might switch around.
Hard to justify 12 dollar a pound coffee when wholesale is under 3 bucks. What a markup, but you have transportation and roasting costs too.

I used to work in Horsham PA and passed the Entemann's donut factory on the way. It smelled wonderful.
I wonder what living near a big coffee roaster would smell like.

68° a few lower than yesterday’s low.

Up too early also, but not by much
Buppies, hope legs get better.
