Rigged the chipper, but the adjustable top link threads were frozen, so I couldn't get the QH upper hook engaged...bummer!! I used a helper (12" crescent wrench)...wouldn't budge. Soaked the threads with PB blaster and we'll try tomorrow (24 hour soak)"

Also happen to me couple time good heavy spraying of brake cleaner in short time free up.

Did my first regen of the tier 4 engine in the 4052R today. Soot percent was 79% and, I'd noticed the last day or two, once started, the RPM would not drop to idle (1100 RPM). My habit (for this tractor and and all previous tractors) is to increase RPM to 1500, once oil pressure was up.
I always dropped RPM to idle before shutting down...but as I'd written...it stayed at 1500
Anyway, I did notice the regen light was on (I had mistaken the indicator light for another function, previously)...cranked the RPM up to 2200 and went about my business.
Took 20 minutes or so (don't wear a watch, so that's an estimate) and the soot percentage went from 79% to 6%
A completely simple process, although I would think it's a bit more of a hassle for farmers and other "professional" tractor users.

My tractor has a vertical stack for regen...and I'd seen on YouTube the exhaust gets hot during regen...and I can attest, yes it does!!!

Sky starting to clear, looks like sun might come out.
68° and only 68% humidity now. Only got .05” rain.

I stopped shed work at 3, came in for lunch and a shower. Did not get rotten piece of floor replaced, but did get the back left corner cleaned out, had raccoon crap. 2 bags stuff ready for trash pickup.
Burned a bunch of old osb siding, posts, scrap wood, cardboard. Had to stop piling more on fire when wind decided to kick up a little.

Moved old rain barrels to side of barn. Need to get rid of them.
Overall satisfied with amount of work I got done.

My model plane experience was similar to RNG. As I recall, Cox gas engine as well. Saved up and bought a balsa wood kit that I enjoyed building. Not an RC type, but the kind at the end of some strings, 2 I think. Nice take off and almost immediate power dive into the ground. Did spend some time trying to fix. I remember buying different pieces of balsa, but it never flew again. Decided to use my meager resources elsewhere. Anyone catch a finger flipping the prop?
I almost lost a finger about 40 years ago when a glow plug igniter was stuck on the plug. It suddenly let go and my little finger went straight into the prop at full revs. About 30 stitches from memory.
Still have the scars to remind me.

. Anyone catch a finger flipping the prop?

Absolutely !!
Most of the larger engines I spin up with an electric motor with a rubber cup on the spinner. Of course the battery to run that and fuel transfer pump is long dead like all the others.

Heat works wonders freeing things up. A torch and Kroil are my go to tools for tasks like that. Soak it then heat it.

Good Morning.
It’s 68, overcast and likely to rain soon.

With that in mind, I got going early this morning, got the mowing finished up that I started yesterday and got the rebuilt mailbox installed.

Yesterday’s trip to Concord was effortless, beautiful day, good views of Manhattan. We could see the Atlantic Ocean as soon as we took off. And the best part was that we were back by 10am and heading home.

I had the post hole auger on the loader, so I had to take that off, and rig up a 4 wheel dolly to store it, because I need a bucket on the loader to remove it from the tractor. Got all that done, and hitched up the Progressive mower and got everything cut with that. Parked it, refueled the tractor, and hopped on the Lazer until I got hungry. After a quick dinner I did the final assembly and graphics on the mailbox before putting my feet up.
Good flight!!!
Is your post hole auger hydraulic? Just curious...I have no need for one, but other than one rigged to a skidsteer, I've never seen one rigged to the FEL/bucket

Good Morning all

I'm taking a day or two to load up my truck (with canopy) for a dump run ... exciting times :) Next week I'll add the new to me grille guard for the truck. New All Terrain tires, used rims are pending. It's raining, so too wet to do any yard maintenance, the brush cutter / weed whipper will have to wait for a dryer time. I put a deposit down on the Zero Turn while I wait for the fabricating to be done. Bit of a slow day, giving my knee some T3s and a rest - had the El Camino out last night, so the knee is a bit strained from getting in / out. Having a coffee, and checking emails, so I thought I'd respond to a few things here... (credit to MostlyGas for the idea). I'm skimming over the past 15 pages, so I will certainly miss a lot ... I really should be washing more eggs also, and checking the incubator.

Alien, LS, Popgadget, and others - I like the RC planes a lot (great photos) - friends, and my neighbour, were big into the planes. My hobby was always the Model Railroading, still with the local club, but my trains are in boxes yet again, while I find some new space to run them. The church is having a Trains theme for the week long Kids Day Camp

Buckeye - we had a mudslide here last week due to the rain, closed the hwy for 5 hrs

rswyan - I like gardening, but mostly from a greenhouse table height at this point. need to get a greenhouse yet

I'm joining in on the prayer concerns, it's tough to keep up sometimes, so that was a great summary for me. Strength everyone. Buppies - all the best with the surgery, today or soon.

Popgadget - love the mailbox, can't miss that one

wngsprd - reminded my wife to have the wheels re-torqued, i've seen too many roll aways

RedNeckGeek -here in BC it is $2.19 per litre for gas (over $8 per US gal) - uggh, but some travelling is needed

sodamo - my trips to town (20 min away) are less frequent, and loaded with errands, makes for long days

LS- I need to respond to the son (3rd child) comment :) I too have a BS in Psychology / Criminal Justice (not science), I had a good 26.5 yr career in Corrections ... Probation, Parole, Bail Supervision etc - hopefully he'll figure it out sooner.

Kyle - I REMEMBER that song, always made me laugh

newbury - take care

txdon - I recall fire and earthquake drills, no bomb drills

RoyJackson - sounds like a similar weekend over here, clean up and dump run

daugen - and I was just going to guess garlic scapes (haha, ya sure I was - nope) - had 2 boxes of them a few weeks ago, initially thought they were string beans - they were old, so the chickens enjoyed them

I think I caught up - PHEW !!! :) going outside with the dogs

Well, so much for the high of 98°..... 102° as I type this.... just stifling when you open the door!

Drip irrigation done for all zones. I swear I heard the plants all sigh .....

Not leaving the cool sanctuary of inside now.

Doug, nice flight! I only have 2 'wings', a Pico jet and a "Blitz" wing. The Pico jet is only 30" and only weighs 1lb 11oz (.79kg) and I'm running a Jeti Phasor 30-3. It has been radar clocked at 96 mph. It will go vertical until out of sight. Fun to fly, but you better be paying attention!

1654984886032.jpeg

I have yet to fly the Blitz. It's about the same size as yours. I don't know why I was afraid to fly it before when I really had the skill.

736DE808-7CBC-4D75-820F-CD8F0FCDC163.jpeg
The newest version has twin tail booms now.... apparently to help stabilize the flight characteristics. I might have to add them. Maybe that's what I was afraid of?

A couple of hours on Sophie’s BX, I’m impressed.
This is how I started, the swarth on right from flail yesterday.
Notice the 4 ft guinea grass
IMG_0296.JPG

A bit of progress

Not a lawn, but good enough for a field
IMG_0299.JPG

I’ll hit the next section before heading for town.

This isn’t a replacement for my flail, but would be nice in less challenging circumstances.
The guinea grass was a challenge but taking half bites worked. And I’m too lazy to do another pass.

This is me test flying my old buddys FX 79 Buffalo. He later crashed it and gave it to me so I rebuilt it and flew it for quite a while eventually passing it on to another buddy. It is a very large wing. 79"
I still have a Bonsai as well. Here I am practicing low flying with my dogs watching on. They loved me flying. We only have the pug left now. The big ones passed away about 4 years ago It is great having the video of them. Not real good quality but it was late evening.

Now 62° but back up to 92% humidity.

Recorded over 900° in the burn coals with my IR thermometer.

Dad said he trimmed the branch in front of my remote camera, with the FEL, took out the whole bush. Said I shouldn’t have any more problems.
When I was there 2 weeks ago I put the camera on a 12v power supply. Batteries will be backup. He had afternoon visitors.
This is the low resolution photo, I can have it send an HD one.

thanks for the reminder mostly_gas, ... My shoulder dislocation is still on the mend, but my physio appts are going well and the physio therapist is pleased. he says the progress is good. I still notice a weakness, easy arm fatigue, and average at best grip strength (significant weakening at this point still) but it can take upwards of 12-15 months for general recovery, so we'll see how the next few months work out. the injury was Sept 2021, so by Christmas this year it will probably be at it's best. Three fingers, shoulder are still a bit numb. I thank the Lord that progress is happening. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers

sodamo - that is great fieldwork, excellent progress, thanks for sharing the photos

tonight I took our dog Minnu (an Anatolian Shepherd) for a walk on the property, we stopped at the spot where I buried Max (Golden Retriever), a little over 2 weeks ago. Minnu has been grieving for a few weeks, misses her friend, I think that Minnu knew that this was the spot, maybe that little visit will help.

Good arvo. Somewhat of a mild night, temperature wise with a low of 6C... however the wind was gusty, which actually dropped the temp to -1.2C. Clear sky and the high has only reached 9C.

The wind was such that the local radio station was off-line all night. I had a 15 minute power outage prior to toddling off to bed, a couple of 'snap' outages whilst I slept and, annoyingly, 4 'snap' outages prior to heading off to Church this AM.

Everyone at Church this morning were wearing their coats, even with the heaters on. The Church never did 'heat up'.:)

That's about it, take care all.

   / Good morning!!!! #151,400
good morning all. Bunch of late sleepers this morning
Drizzling outside, looks like rain most of the day.
61 going to 77 with heavy rain tonight.

important day at church, as they try to find a replacement for me. No one has volunteered yet and my leadership ends
in two weeks. I've been to Meeting every Sunday morning, save one, for the last 8 months. I need a break...

late yesterday two small trees came in from Burgess, last of a very old order. Should have been here months ago. These are
cypress I think for a visual barrier, will find a place for them. The two trees I really wanted, the weeping willows, were both cancelled by Burgess.

Really is interesting seeing the different temps in different hemispheres. Wagtail is wearing his coat and we are sweating.
