Good morning! A cloudy 64˚F day heading to the 80s.

Poppagadet, some excitement in life is nice, having to shut 50% of your motors off at 18,000' is not. It will be interesting to find the part that failed.

I'm too late the 15,000 invitations to the Tesla Cyber Rodeo down the road have been given away.
I also didn't fit in one of the three categories unless posting on TBN qualifies me as a Social Media Influencer.
"Tesla has also started sending a colorful Cyber Rodeo Giga Texas invitation email to Tesla owners, investors, and social media influencers to join the event."

Friend of mine was telling an electric vehicle fiasco story yesterday. He apparently had an electric rental, and couldn’t get back home because he was driving into a headwind, and the batteries drained much faster than the distance he had to go. Could only find a slow charger. After an hour he started out again, batteries drained too fast again. Had to go way out of his way to find another charger, got there and it wasn’t a public charger. Didn’t have battery to go anyplace else, they took pitty on him and charged him enough to get back. His trip was 1.5 hrs in a normal vehicle, it took him over 6 hrs due to the slow electric charging and the wind which seriously reduced the range. He said never again.

Happy anniversary BEF and lucky lady! :)

Seems like only yesterday we were getting married in VA the day after a spring snowstorm. My family from Ohio was in a foot of snow getting over the mountains, and my oldest brother, who video taped it, showed up just before the wedding started.

33 this morning, 57 later. Looks like the last morning near freezing, so I’m going to start planting flowers this week. I wish the daytime highs would warm up so the soil temps can get a little better,
I’ve got a big limb to move that blew down yesterday, wind forecast yesterday was 10-15, by afternoon it was steady at 22 with gusts over 40. No idea why the discrepancy. I’ve got to do some spraying but not until the wind dies down. I’ve got the land plane on the tractor so I might dress the driveway later, it needs it, the snow removal left me a couple of small holes.

RS, when you break something, you do a thorough job of it! ;)

All or nothing ... ;)

Hope the repair goes well; am sure you want your tractor going again soon.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to having it back in operation ... will need it soon enough.

After the drivetrain repairs are complete, I'll be diving into replacing the seals on the front axle knuckles. Have the parts for that up in the shop.

Also need to do a repair on the loader valve, to replace the balls (like BB's) that provide the detent for the float. And modify the two caps on the valve by drilling a hole in them so that any condensation drains out (causes the loader valve to freeze up in cold weather until the tractor is warmed up)

The floor pans for the deck need some work done on them as well ... they're starting to rot out (in the center) from the underside ... probably due to poor paint job Kubota did originally on the parts that weren't readily visible. One side is worse than the other. Fortunately I have a small piece of 10GA hot roll sheet that should cover it. Once I get that done the tops (at least) will get shot with some truck bed liner.

I have most of the old rubber cut off on the pedals at this point, just need to remove the adhesive that they used to stick them on ... and figure out what to use on the new ones to secure them.

Woman was up there the other day and asked "You're gonna clean this thing off and give it a bath aren't you ?" ... so I need to do that as well at some point, along with addressing a number of small fluid seeps in various places.

Glad the meeting with the mason went well and I hope the pie was tasty.

Happy Anniversary Buckeye.

Paul, glad you were in a twin engine. Is that the new plane? Looks like something came loose; let us know what you find.

a fun morning but now I'm glad to sit down. Planted two small rows of bibb and mixed lettuce, then three rows of radish mixture.
Then the fun part, planting the berry bushes, 8 blueberries and two blackberries. Landscaper brought dirt/compost this morning, then I dug the holes,
added Hollytone for acid blueberries have to have, and then topped off with peat moss. 46 degrees out but when I got in my shirt was soaked, good exercise.

Then I figured I'd run the generator for a little while, and that was far less successful. Dead. Zippo, no electric start and no indicator on light. Ok, hard to believe that little
battery was bad since I charge it every three months and after putting charger on it, it showed green in two minutes. Not the battery. Checked all the fittings, the one inline fuse, all tight and looked ok. This unit has all of ten hours on it... Was pleased to see it actually had a pull start, which I have never used, but trying to be very careful with my back, started pulling on that cold 457cc single. Pull, pull, pull, seven times and almost gave up and it started right up and ran perfectly. So issue must be in starter motor. I don't know how to diagnose it, will call hotline and ask for help, but unless there is a hidden fuse somewhere, unit needs some metering to figure out what is going wrong. Maybe one of my local tech wizards will feel sorry for me.... ;)
The unit did get rained on when the cover blew off in last storm so I wonder if some water got down into the panel, though they are supposed to be weatherproof.

I bet that drive shaft made a noise when it let go, RS.

Yup, sure did ... I had just engaged the FWD and was driving into one of the piles of sheep manure my neighbor had delivered with the bucket down, trying to pile it up some so he could get the pick up and dump trailer in to drop more.

I was able to drive the tractor down to the house (and later up to the shop) as long as I went very slow ... otherwise, the busted parts would flop around and cause it to lock up and stop hard.

From what I can tell, it doesn't appear as though anything else was damaged ... which was lucky, considering that the output shaft from the engine back to the transmission runs parallel to it but a little lower.

Looking forward to seeing photos of all the pretty things you two have been planting when they pop out of the ground this spring.

I'll post them as soon as we get anything worth taking some pictures of.

Good luck on the driveway renovations !

Drew - could pop by Friday, or another afternoon if the rains aren't too bad.`
Got a new clamp on ammeter too. Not sure where my old one went.
Does the genny even click when you hit the starter button?

64°F and 1.84 inches rain and still raining

Last major indoor task in Caretaker unit, reline the bottom cabinets with new contact paper and shelf liner. Lots of cutting and fitting. Not something I have a lot of recent experience.

In person Happy Hour up to the Cottage this afternoon. Last gathering by Canadian friends before they close out their extended stay.

Start my eye drop regimen today for my cataract surgery.

Wife called her Az sister yesterday for her 70th and found out she, visiting DIl and grandson all got bit by alligator and no clue how. Only her son was negative. All vaxxed. Couldn’t attend the planned celebration.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
