Sucks about your mailbox Thomas.

I hung up on some cylinder shop today. Guy simply would not listen to what I was trying to explain to him. He wanted to argue. He told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. So told him I couldn’t believe he wasted his time calling me when he obviously knew more about the product than I did, and hung up on him. My boss thought it was funny.

We had to say good bye to one of our cats several weeks ago. A local lost and found pets page has been trying to find the owner of a young cat for several weeks. No one stepped forward, this one is moving in with us

Gotta love short timer attitude.

Nice looking kitty.
Our new one is adjusting more, it’s taken awhile.

I found some VA land today I’m interested in. Waiting to hear back from agent. Told wife I wanted a small weekend cabin, but eventually move there. Only 5 minutes out of town, about 8 minutes to local hospital. Not many grocery stores though, just Kroger and food lion across town. Super Walmart on other side of town also.

Gas prices have me thinking too. Actually I’ve got some irons in the fire, had a good interview last week. Part of my retirement plan.
Will see what happens.

Good evening all. 30ºF for the start, overcast, light showers in area, light breeze. Light wind day, overcast in morning, fog, mist enough to make roads wet. High temp was 43ºF, DP 29ºF. Cleaned ashes and restoked insert, start work on mower maintenance, replacing rear drive tires, driveshaft bearings, drive dogs, air filter, spark plug and resharpen blade and change oil. Mower on saw horses, rear wheels off, removing the bearings, will inspect the drive belt. Did get stationary ride in, and nap. Also cleaned up my sink drain, it was goobered up. Have been trying to use less shaving creme, seems to be major contributor.

20° right now...high in the upper 30's today...

UTI has alleviated somewhat and as some suggested, laid off the coffee and booze (except for beer, which seems to help, actually). I should be getting an antibiotic prescription filled today.
Still working from home for the next day.

41 and raining, going to only 46. Lit a fire in the woodstove this morning, for the first time in about a week. morning.

Glad you're feeling better, Roy.

Thomas, sounds like a real nice mailbox you had. Sorry it was damaged. Can you repair it?

BEF, thanks for the PC tips. I was able to finally get it to the point I could use the HP diagnostic tools, and it look like it is working normally now. The HP tools are awesome. I'll try roasting coffee today and see if everything works. It was a new version of roasting software that I loaded soon before the failure.

I had hoped to take advantage of the quarter inch of rain Monday night and bush hog yesterday. But by the time I got my implements moved and put the bush hog on, the wind had pretty much dried the field and so it was just as dusty as usual. I mowed over 2 hours. Since I had to move the zero-turn, mowed a little bit with that, too... the asparagus patch and some wild onions.

I haven't been anywhere in a week, so haven't seen gas prices...the local news says the average local price is 4.09, but my wife filled up at either Sam's or Costco yesterday...she said it was 3.88. I'll probably go up to the local country store after the rain and refill my truck and diesel jug...likely see a shocker price.

Good morning, and thanks, guys, for all the thoughts and prayers! Sharon really appreciates the support.

She actually broke this arm before, and had a steel plate put in, in a very complicated surgery. Today the surgeons are going to put a longer plate in and they told her that this will be a much easier surgery with a shorter recovery time than last time. Fortunately, I can be with her all day every day, because I am still working online.

We are in Toronto now for a few days, and then will probably head back up this weekend.

The driveway is crazy right now, just like a skating rink. So, I took all the snow off and then I’m sprinkling all kinds of and he slips and then gravel, etc., and wearing spikes on my boots. Sharon has the same thing, but she will still be nervous heading into the cottage from the driveway.

In 20 years, I have never seen it like this. It rained quite a bit days ago, and since then the snow on top is sitting on the sheer ice. And it’s not warm enough for any new snow to stick to the ice, so we have to be very careful. Fortunately this coming week there will be quite a bit of time when it is above freezing, but not much!

Have to clear the snow right now to the ice, because the spikes on our boots don’t work if the snow is too deep, and you flipping fall anyways. That is what happened in fact with Sharon. She had spikes on her boots, but the spikes were not long enough to reach right down and touch the ice.

Will be picking up more sand on the way up, and spreading it all over the driveway. Hopefully, it will sink into the ice enough so that, when I clear the snow next time, the sand will still be there.

Have a great day everybody!

good morning all. Pretty yukky day, 38 out now, high of the day, temps lowering a little in rain and snow flurries most of day.

I'm headed to Costco this morning to get an audiology exam, hopefully hearing aids can help me.
My MIL told me her Aetna medicare supplement paid for her hearing aids.
I didn't think my BC/BS did.
I have such a problem hearing in restaurants I want the ones you can turn off the rear mikes and only use the front ones to hear
whoever is in front of me and not the din from the surrounding room. In theory...

Got the Burgess catalog in today, in addition to Burpee and Territorial.
Burgess seems to have some real bargains, anyone have experience using them?

Check, hope your wife's surgery goes really well today

The dentist canceled because of my knee replacement, said I have to be on antibodies before they could clean. They communicated with the surgeon, got me pills and rescheduled later this week.

Third strike on getting a new 2.5Ah EGO battery, 2 Lowe's and 1 Ace hardware out of stock. I have 2 more places to try locally.
Glad you mentioned your dentist appointment being cancelled. I have such an appointment in 2 weeks, just for routine cleaning, and that reminded me to check and see if she's still going to require that I take amoxicillin before, as she always has in the past.

When the wife had kidney stones, the doctor gave her a prescription pain med and told her to go home and chug a six pack of beer. Of course this was back when she was going to nursing school and a single mom.

I found this very encouraging, updated as of this morning:

maybe one of those oligarchs will make Putin disappear...

I'm taking a sour cherry supplement every other morning, though if unsweetened sour cherry juice goes on sale, I try to stock up.
Good mixed in with other juice, pretty strong by itself. Had what I thought was gout once, never want that coming back for sure.

if your home lacks humidity during the winter with forced air heating, like I do, you
might find NASA's findings interesting. 2 weeks after low humidity, flu cases start to rise.
Flu and what else???

March 9, 2022
A new NASA study that looked at humidity levels versus weekly flu cases across the United States found a correlation between low humidity and flu outbreaks.

Morning all, 39 going up only a bit and rainy/grey outside.
Finally got a solar light on the mailbox post and boss signed off that it looked good.
Faced it straight up to where the two house numbers hang.

Seems we have a delivery truck who turns around at the end of my shared road each morning and leaves tire tracks. Thinking how to convince them to stop that without getting into a pissing match.

Check-sorry to hear about the troubles and do hope the wife's arm heals quick. Ice is never fun except in a rink.

Drew I have used Burgess and don't anymore, don't remember why though.

Beer if brewed correctly does contain mild antibiotics - When they brewed egyptian beer from a recipe a few thousand years old, it was quite high in antibiotics (comparatively),

Stay safe and be well,

Above my front door this morning, is peace coming??
The company I work for shut down all offices in R. and stopped all business there a few days back.
