Well it's well past morning, but hello all;
This danged weather has sure thrown a monkey wrench into my plans for tomorrow.
I was planning on going out to the Farm Show at the State Fairgounds in Syracuse,
but with the potential of a storm I guess I'll stay home. Looking at the different
forecasts the NWS is 10-12Inches, Accuweather is 10"-15" and Weather underground is at 10".
So I took the back blade off and put the inverted blower on this afternoon that should cut the
snowfall down to 2-4" and I'll switch back to the backblade. :D
But at least it's cold out and the mud has set up good.

34F and cloudy @ 17:00, was sunny earlier. Heading to 28F with rain/snow later. Winter Weather Advisory has been issued.

Ten Day shows highs with a mix of mid-30's to mid-40's ... with one day at the tail end with a high of 53F. Of course, a lot can change between now and then.

Hopper and two sunflower tube feeders refilled plus two suet feeders. Also refilled deer corn feeder with about a gallon and half whole corn.

Also handled some emails, did some banking, and scheduled bills for payment.

Went over to the barn earlier to check on something for a friend, noticed what was left of a raccoon carcass at the north overhead door. Looked like it had been pretty well picked over. One less to be concerned with.

Need to go over some documents this evening.

I believe dinner may be on the stove which I should probably go check on ... ;)

Possibly a movie later.

Hope everyone had a great Thursday ... (y)

ADOT did a wonderful jobs on the interstate during this storm.

They neglected to salt the bridges. So we had the classic Arkansas accordian effect going on today. Happens every storm.

People hammer down the road at 75. Forget that the bridges could be frozen still.

Yahoo hits the bridge and realizes it's a solid sheet of ice. So they ride it out across the bridge. Panic, and then slam on their brakes as soon as they hit solid pavement.

They always neglect to take into account the 6 or so cars tailgating behind them traveling at 75mph and no way to stop.

Sat on the interstate for an hour this morning reading a book. Tractor trailer wrecked after crossing one of those unsalted bridges.

Highway patrol shut down the interstate for about an hour while waiting for ADOT to get out there and sand the dickens out of it.

Cataract calendar has started. Got the measurements today. New (to me) that takes 5 pics of each eye. Thought I might be reacting to the green flash, but tech said I did great. Surgery not scheduled until neat end of May,more than 3 months. WOW, Doc said they were backlogged, but geez. Told tech to put my name on the standby list. Scheduled my preop clearance for next Tue. Once cleared I can be called anytime. I’m hopeful.

Roy, did your wife opt for the toric lenses? I have astigmatism so an option. About $1200 each eye not covered by insurance. Thinking seriously that I will get.

Keystone 1 & 2 provide oil to Midwest refineries.

I suppose ... assuming one considers Cushing, OK to be in the "Midwest". (It actually isn't)

Personally, I've never thought of it that way ... but I guess some would consider Ohio to be in the "Great Lakes" (which it is ... while also being in the Midwest ... ;) )

But the Phase III(a) pipeline opened up the possibility the Phase I and II oil could be also sent to Texas ... since the end terminus for the Phase II section and the origin point for Phase III(a) are basically in the same location.

While phase 3 is a larger capacity to TX , that cannot be utilized without the XL.

That's odd ... given that TC started pumping oil into the Phase III(a) section in January 2014.

One news article I read - dated January 8, 2015 - said that Phase III(a) would be pumping on average about 300,000 barrels of oil daily initially and should end the year at an average of about 520,000 barrels per day.

TC's own statements in another article claimed the same number (520,000 bpd) and said that the Phase III pipeline section's capacity could be scaled up to 700,000 bpd.

Evidently there is quite a bit of oil to be transported up near the origination point of the Phase IIIa section (Cushing, OK)

It seems that Oklahoma produces around 12,000,000 bpm on average - just going by the EIA's figures for 2021. That equates to around 400,000 bpd more or less. Production has been even higher (600,000 bpd) in the fairly recent past.

Toss in Kansas and that's another 70,000 to 80,000 per day.

FWIW, Phase III(b) is a shorter pipeline (47 miles) called the "Houston Lateral" - which delivers oil from near the endpoint of Phase IIIa in Nederland, TX to the refineries in Houston.

phase 1 & 2 restrict what can be delivered to Tx.

Not really ... unless the premise is that oil shipped to refinery locations other than TX somehow restricts what can be shipped to TX (by virtue of it having gone elsewhere ?)

But as I noted above Phase II + Phase IIIa do deliver the capability to send oil to Texas.

Therefore the XL was to provide up to 700,000 to TX in addition to what goes to Midwest in 1&2. It also was to deliver Bakken oil from Montana to Tx.

True (highlighted)

But it seems like a pipeline for Bakken oil could be routed in such a way that wouldn't have to cross such an environmentally sensitive area.

Of course, there's always the NIMBY aspect to deal with - no matter where it's sited.

XL is required to get oil to the Texas refineries with more capacity

Leaving aside the fact that Phase III (a and b) apparently can, do - and are currently - supplying oil - our own domestically produced oil - to Texas refineries, there have been a number of other pipeline proposals floated probably since at least the early 2010's - so it's entirely possible that one of those might receive greater public acceptance than the XL ... which would have crossed one of the world's largest underground aquifers (the Ogallala)

Although I'm sure that there are certainly some folks that would be opposed to that because it's tar sands oil that is being discussed.

As to the rest of your statement which I deliberately omitted, not going to touch that - since it not really a suitable discussion topic for this forum.

Torrential rain here at present. Hasn't eased up for 2 days and a lot more coming. We are flooded in at present so no going anywhere. But, have smokes, beer, bourbon and plenty of food to last a few days. Our front porch is under water so stuck inside with 4 dogs! If you look close at the pic you can see the little Koala up near the top of the tree. Must be horrible for the poor little bloke

Buppies but when I saw Johnny Quest I thought of the haboob RNG mentioned.
Roy never saw Tintin.
