Good morning

18° with highs in the mid to upper 20’s and NE winds 5-10 mph today. Snowing pretty heavy now, the weather clowns are calling for 8-14” by early evening then done. Should be an easy clean up, dry snow no freezing rain or sleet this time around. As much as I enjoy the snow with all the warm weather last week or so the ground was bare and starting to dry out. Ah well it is still February!
Not much planned for today just kick back and enjoy the day with the misses, she’s doing a pot roast in the crockpot so I will be hungry all day lol.

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

17F snowing low 20's for high, about 2" has fallen out of 8"-10" promise by the weatherman.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today...afternoon do quick steps snow cleaning also plow driveway etc. figuring that should be half the storm, other than that slow motion day.

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning.
It’s 30 degrees out there and everything has an ice coating.
Freezing rain now, sunny and close to 50 later on.

It was 28 when I left the house yesterday morning, it was 77 when I was leaving Stuart. Much nicer day in FL.

Next stop was Newport News, where it was raining pretty hard, then back to Philly where the rain was just starting.

Trip for today cancelled, so I’ve got a few days off to get stuff done around here.

Emily has a vet appointment this morning, so now I’ll be here to take her, much to my wife’s relief. She is a big dog, and now a bit wobbly, so she wasn’t looking forward to getting her in and out of the car.

Morning all, 32 and still raining. Roads with some black ice, not too bad.
Trees are snapping and icy.

Up northeast of me the roads are sheet ice according to co-workers.

Paul- Hope Emily trip goes well.

Stay safe and be well,

Good morning to all! Low was 12° and guess what? ...... yep, 4" + of snow! Some 'dusting'. We must have the same weather guessers as LFN.....

All the snow must have dumped in the wee hours, it's sunny now, just a few broken up clouds, but the wind has kicked up and is blowing the powder light snow around. Maybe it will clear the driveway for me? There's always hope...

No issues with the pellet stove overnight. Purring nicely. I still have my eyebrows....

Mostly, no, definitely not you that needs to be silenced, nor anyone else here on the forums. It's basically a couple of nasty belligerent neighbors that create their own issues.🤬

Kyle, nice job on the straightening of the rod, hopefully the next one cooperates without too much effort! (y)

RS, I have the same Crossman, but don't use it too often. My 'go to' for rodent control is a Beeman RS2 series. Single pump, break barrel. It comes with two barrels, .177 cal and a .22 cal. Pellet. It's up to 1000fps using .177.View attachment 734889
Also came with a nice soft storage case and the scope. I am very happy with the accuracy. The .22 cal takes out the critters with one shot, sometimes the .177 requires a follow up....

Today will be an inside piddling around day. I think that we may polish up the furniture today, it's due for sure. The humidity is so low, the wood absorbs any wax almost instantly. The oak floors are due for another waxing, but that might be a bit too much to tackle today.

I picked up a couple of prime ribeyes and a small bag of 'baby dutch golden' potatoes. They are on the menu for dinner tonight along with the last 2 corn on the cob that were frozen last season. I think the wifey is also going to do an asian stir fry. Should make for good eatin'🤤

Everyone have a great day!

Nice pellet gun, LS - do you know what the muzzle velocity is with the .22 barrel?

can you get enough power with a pellet gun to make it accurate for 30 yards but still not be lethal?
Say you didn't want to hunt but wanted target practice only. How many fps minimum would I need?

All my guns got sold in the move.
I miss the one with the nice scope on it. Assuming you have a spot to brace against, having a scope
obviously improves accuracy.
Am curious how my aim is now with much older eyes.

I continue to remember the advice the old neighbor of mine in NC told me about having enough guns. You need more guns.
I'd like one to use just for target practice and have dense woods behind my house.
With the police station almost across the street, this is a seriously low crime area so really don't see the need to arm up.

And while I wish non violent alternatives could be used and work, that sure doesn't work for everyone.
So I'm very appreciative of those of you who legally carry firearms. You may save my behind some day.
And I'm very appreciative of the police and our military. It's a hard world out there, just ask the Ukranians.
I don't think my pepper spray would work very well against a Russian tank.

Change in plans...snow blower is at a local store, but not assembled...
Since I paid for assembly, I expect it assembled. Good news is, if the store gets it assembled today, they said they'd deliver it.
Roads are really nasty right now...guess I'm not too upset.
I'll use the single-stage blower for the sidewalks in a bit....as long as I hit it soon (4-6 inches, and we're almost there), the little blower will be fine...
And, no doubt I'll have plenty of places to use the bigger blower later today or tomorrow

Update: Latest forecast is for 5", down from 9"...

The space ghost series with the herculoids were some of my favorites or perhaps Mighty Mouse.

I remember Johnny Quest and Space Ghost, but my favorites were Road Runner, Yosemite Sam and Ralph and George (sheep dog and coyote).

Are you sure about the weather forecast? Give me a couple of hours and I’ll find 15-20 websites, notations or citations to prove you wrong.
Know what I mean?

when tv's first came in my grandfather got the first one and we little kids would go up to his home in the late 50's and watch Walt Disney at 6pm, I think, on Sunday night.
One show a week. Can you imagine that now?
I remember Roadrunner and Yosemite Sam. Sorry, never knew the Herculoids.

Mickey Mouse must have been quite different than Mighty Mouse.

It appears, based on the extensive research posted previously, it’s just my imagination that I’m paying near double for fuel, than I was in January 2021. I’m sure there will be a detailed explanation for why I’m imagining that.

35 early m 41 now and 55 later, then cold again as the roller coaster continues.
Many trees are budding now and seeing several early season flowers starting to come out. Some of the birds are start to nest, come on spring.

Good bless the people of Ukraine.

Good morning! 30 now, been about that temp since 4:00 AM when I got up to add wood the the fire. Might go up a few degrees today.

Only got rain from the storm yesterday. The ice/slush/snow stayed north.

Burning up one of my remains vacation days. Had another meeting with our financial advisor last evening. We have done well preparing for retirement.

Not sure what mischief I will find today. But I will find something.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High 63F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
March looks like it'll come in like a lamb, with partly cloudy skies and a high in the low 70s. Rain is back in the 10-day for Wednesday, almost a half inch now, lasting into Thursday morning. And highs will be in the low 70s for the weekend, with lots of sun.

Hope the vet can do some good for Emily, Paul.

Getting old has its challenges, Buppies, but it beats the alternative...

You sound well prepared to ride out the storm, Doug. Hope it doesn't last too much longer, though.

The young lady with the gold panner was a real sport on the hike, not even complaining when she lost a boot in the mud. I was surprised at her wardrobe choice, but it seemed to work just fine for her.

Those later Hanna Barbara cartoons were real game changers, adding a good deal of realism that I really liked. Sure don't make 'em like that anymore.

The brutality in the Ukraine reminds us that the veneer of civilization is very thin. And that diplomacy and kind thoughts only go so far towards keeping the peace. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, the UN can do to put a stop to it.

It's not your imagination, Randy. I'm stuck in the same boat, too, and I don't believe for a minute that it's got much to do with alligators.

I was surprised to find the "Toasted" version of Basil Hayden Bourbon at Costco yesterday, especially after seeing it for the first time ever at the liquor store in Lompoc last weekend. I also found some of Firestone Brewery's Merlin Nitro Milk Stout at Bevmo when I stopped by to stock up on Shiner Bock. I even found and used a 10% off coupon in the email queue on my phone. But the biggest surprise were the fresh ears of corn on the cob at Winco, still packed on ice. It was delicious with some BBQ chicken from the grill last night.🤤

The neighbor with the big backhoe says he'll be bringing a bulldozer down next week to start clearing the fire break around the property. That means I need to get busy finding and marking the survey stakes that were put in place in '19 so he can get the lines right. Also need to look up the ordinance again so see how wide to make it as well.

TGIF gang! 🍻

31F and freezing rain. The power was out when I woke up. I was afraid it was the beginning of the cyber war. Wouldn't that be horrible? Fortunately it was just an ice storm. Kind of pretty.Power came back on around 9.

I'm feeling very sorry for the Ukrainians. Looks like they also believe in living free or dying.

Stay warm and dry.

Chris
