18° in the valley. I didn’t bring a winter coat, glad not a lot of outdoor activity.
MIL asked me about some chains in the driveway. Seems I had left some in the FEL bucket, and dumped them when I used it to move some big piles of leaves last month.

Good Morning!!!! 35F @ 4:30AM. Clouds and some sun this morning with more clouds for this afternoon. High near 50F. Winds light and variable.
One by one, the sunny days have disappeared from the 10-day forecast until today is the last one left. Daily rain amounts aren't huge, ranging between a quarter to three quarters of an inch, but they're consistent, and we need the rain if we're gonna end this drought.

The service sounds nice, Drew. Hope it wasn't too cold.

The news yesterday had a story about super CV19 immunity, against all the varients, now and into the future. You get it after being immunized, and then having a break through case of CV19. A true case of "if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger". Over 1000 times stronger, according to the story. And it pointed out that since Omicron is so mild, with a high survival rate, at least so far, it may well be just the ticket to get us to herd super immunity. At least those of us that have had the jabs.

Nice work on the owl box, Mike. It pays to never throw anything away...

The downed trees this time around, Bruce, have all come out of the ground root ball and all. Previously, they've snapped off some six feet or so above the ground. This time though, there's been enough rain to soften the ground, and the wind was able to push them over and rip the roots up. The ground is wet down to the bottom of the root ball, three or four feet, first time I've ever seen that.

I got word during the 2020 physical that I was eligible for membership in the L5 club, Drew. I don't recommend joining that one if you can help it.

I didn't see any new trees down yesterday when I cleaned up this latest one, but there are a couple of dead ones that I need to get after. First I need to fill the hole left by yesterday's root ball, then I can put the grapple back on and clean up the dead ones, which have dropped a lot of limbs on the ground even though they're still standing. The grapple will make short work of them.

The NWS says that we're now some 160% ahead of normal in rain accumulation for this time of the year. Lake Oroville level is still well below normal, though.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great holiday start!

Bird, my file cabinet gets cleaned when I can’t stuff any more in

Then it gets moved to boxes in the basement. I keep way too much. Every bill, statement, etc. all organized in folders. Every pay stub since I graduated from college. And it’s in quicken since the mid 90s.

Good Morning! It is 24° now, may get to 40° today. Sky was really clear this morning. Looked like a full moon when I was going out to get into the truck this morning.

Hope the healing is going good buppies and Don.

Yesterday ended up being kind of a lazy day. Other than bringing in wood for the fire, not sure I accomplished much else. Today is back to work, hopefully it is quiet. Working today and tomorrow then off until January 10.

The remote for the Dish box quit working Friday. I tried to link an universal remote, wouldn't work. Wife called Dish (it is her account), seems our Dish receiver box is 21 years old! The woman with Dish tech support was shocked there was one that old still working. So we are getting an upgrade at no charge. Seems some features are soon going to be lost with our current box due to the antiquity of the software.

And this will be it.

I got the blood drawn and waited until the results posted. The one liver enzyme stayed stable, the other dropped! This was good news.

JoAnne was my day shift nurse's aide. I really wanted Mikaela to be my nurse's aide on my last day. Got breakfast then a visit from Kandi. At least she was going to be the charge nurse. She started the conversation off by asking me if I had heard any rumors. Knowing her sense of humor, I said: "yea, I heard you were tired of my sh*t and are going to throw me out on the sidewalk today". She busted up laughing and replied: "I told those night shift nurses not to tell you the truth".

Then she got serious. The doctor had seen my blood work and now I needed to have a "mobility test" that was to test my ability to move around and breath. It required physical therapy, pulmonary, and medical to be present to monitor and rate the outcome. Kandi was going to be the medical representative, she had to coordinate the rest with the other 2 departments. She told me I was going to need to spend more time moving around than I had been so far with my PT sessions.

She managed to pull it all together quickly and mid-morning I got my mobility test. BOL stayed above 97% the entire time, I did a lot of laps around the room with the walker. They went out in the hall, talked, Kandi came in and said I had passed with flying colors. She told me to call my wife and alert her that would most likely be released that afternoon.

About 1:30, Kandi showed up again. She told me would not be official until the doctor signed the order, she had been told by the doctor to prepare my discharge paperwork. She said that was going to take a while and someone else was going to be covering for her. She had JoAnne start getting my stuff ready in the room for me to leave. She also told me to call my wife and have her plan on being at the hospital about 3:00.

I was shocked, no other way to say it.

About 2:00, Dr. C came in. We talked a bit, he told me he was satisfied with what he say in the blood work and he was going to sign the order to release me. He gave me 2 prescriptions to be filled. He also told me no hot or spicy food for at least 30 days.....that would last maybe 10 days. 🤣 I was also to schedule an appointment with my personal doctor for a follow up check up and blood work within 2 weeks.

At 2:30 it was official. JoAnne got serious about getting stuff ready. Before I could get dressed Kandi had to remove the pick line. Then to slowly get dressed and into the wheel chair. It was after 3 by then, my wife texted me she was at the south entrance as instructed. Finally everything was ready.

And then Mikaela came walking into the room. Seems was going to work afternoons that week. She was shocked to see me sitting in a wheel chair ready to leave. She told me: "I am going to miss you but really happy you are going home for Christmas". She then asked JoAnne if she could help take me out. JoAnne agreed and Mikaela took the bag of my stuff (wasn't much) and walked beside the wheel chair taking me outside. She walked with her hand on my should most of the way out. Told me she wanted to meet my wife.

We got outside and it was drizzling. Which I guess is appropriate because it was raining the Monday I went into the hospital. I told the nurse's what type of truck my wife drives which they found immediately. My wife saw us and got out. Mikaela introduced herself to my wife, told her the same thing she told me. She helped my wife get me into the truck and the seat belt on.

I asked JoAnne and Mikaela to thank everyone and wish them a Merry Christmas. And the same to them. Mikaela squeezed my arm and said for us to have a Merry Christmas. She shut the door. And with that, my wife put the truck in gear and we headed home.

The ride home was strange. I guess I was having a hard time accepting it was real. But it was and it was over. It would take me weeks to get my full mobility and strength back. But I had survived this and was home.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good morning! 35˚F heading to the upper 50s. By Christmas eve and day we will be in the 80s and the news is hyping it up as the second warmest Texas Christmas on record.

I was rudely awaken by excruciating knee pain from an active dream sometime last night. Took about 30 minutes for pain to subside and fall back to sleep. This morning I had to check my bandaid for blood there was none. Ankle is still swollen more than expected. I have not measured my knee this morning. If it's less than 17.5" that would be good. PT comes out today, she did not call yesterday, like she said she would, so I could time my pain medication. I hope she gives me at least an 4 hour notification. I was expecting knee pain but the pain is actually above and below the knee, I guess the bionics have no nerves.

Covid cases continued to rise every day last week - looks like I had the surgery during one lull, got lucky there. Now Royal Caribbean cruise announced it had 40 cases on one of their ships on the post test covid test after having none on the pre tests. The new omicron variant is fast.

I'll know Thursday, after doctors visit, if I will be able to attend the Church Christmas Eve service, lots of songs and candlelight indoors where it will be cool.

Buppies I remember you were to get your surgery a few days after mine, what part did they cut on? Hope your healing progresses. Maybe one day we can compare scar pics - the new tattoo for the elderly.

Ron there is only one emergency number - 911

Those that can get busy on your projects and post pics, I need to be entertained by this interesting GM thread.

Amazon says they delivered a box last week that wasn’t supposed to come till Tuesday. Don’t see it on my camera, so maybe the cat sitters brought it inside. It’s the ultrasonic cleaner, another cha Ching.

Rich, thanks for the COVID details. Amazing detail.

I can’t even remember my long hospital stay, but do remember the ride home, getting to see the outside world again, with a stop at mission bbq.

Good morning, 21 and sunny.
Friends out for the weekend and the rain held off for us.
New Hope-Ivyland Steam train, Peddlars village for Xmas lights and Washingtons Crossing inn for dinner after a walk through New Hope main strip.

Put in new shelf Pilasters and now need to cut the shelves to go in.

The scouts had a sleepover on the battleship New Jersey- Kids really liked it, bunks weren't too bad either.

Don - sounds like you are making a lot of progress-great to hear and you should be in great shape pretty quick- swelling is normal, hope it subsides soon for you.

Buppies - rather a scar than the spread- hope you heal up well and feel better soon. Take it easy and worry less about scars and more about plans for the holidays

Stay safe and be well,

cool pictures Ken.
Not so cool pic Buppies but looks like it will heal ok. Prayers sent your way and for Don's leg too.

Well..............
I have some good Christmas news.
none better actually
PET scan came back clear and cancer free.
Doc said next time I graduate to one year testing.
First two years with a lymphoma apparently are key and I'm just about through.

It was two years ago I started feeling poorly and no one could diagnose why.
Only after my primary doc/nurse ordered a chest CT did they find the cancer. Apparently I am one of 200 folks in the
world that got cancer in both adrenal glands. And it was that double whammy of cancer on both major hormone glands that I think
made me lose my marbles for three weeks. Because it all went away over the course of two days. Doc looked at me and asked
who I was, i was totally changed. Family did not think I was coming home, could not carry on a conversation, got confused like I had
dementia. Three weeks of partial dementia. With that awful incontinence and abusive nurses. remember my late wife was a nurse and I treat them
like gold.

After three weeks I had a laptop on my stomach in bed and was constantly emailing and taking calls
about the sale of my farm. In the dark hours of the original Covid scare that locked everything down. I did not see a friend or family except through
a glass window for almost six months.

you just have to stay tough and wait it out and over time usually you get better.

So I'm going out to lunch today with my oldest friend from high school and we will talk grandchildren and cars and
it's all good.

Thanks Santa.
