TwoBit,
I'm interested in your trip to Austin. Am readying a scifi novel on Kindle that is partially set in Austin.
They keep referring to the eccentric folks there, touting tshirts saying Keep Austin Weird.
Is this just some fictional invention or is Austin a little different? Drew
Austin is very different from the rest of Texas.

Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 8:30AM. Sunny. Visibility reduced by smoke. High 87F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Funny, it's just as smoky now, even less so, than it has been for the past two weeks, and the weather guessers are only now mentioning smoke? o_O

Austin sounds like it's been infected with the same disease as Kalifornia, Portland, Seattle, and many big American cities, Kyle. Hopefully good folks can keep it from spreading to the rest of the state.

Glad you got your ride in the Mustang, Ron, but it's a shame you didn't get to slide in behind the wheel.

I'll have to talk to RS about slowing down a bit, Billy. He's makin' all the rest of us look like a bunch of slackers. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the suggestions for the ladder, folks. I like the inner tube idea, goodness knows I have enough old inner tubes here. But I think in this case I'll stick with the blocks because I like something to hold onto when I'm getting on top of the tank, and the stabilizer would just be up in the air.

joint.jpg

Used some pipe scraps to mock up one of the joints for the grizzly frame yesterday. Not my best work, but it'll get the job done.

Weather was pretty nice yesterday, so I rolled the red bike out and gave it a good degreasing and wash. Sure looked nice in the sun. I was surprised to find gas still in the tank; usually I drain them if the bike is going to be sitting a while. Got a little more than five gallons out of it, then tried to pour it into the van. The nozzle on the Never Spill was too short to get through the trap door in the filler neck, and it made a mess all over the side of the van. I've pulled those little trap doors out of many motorcycle tanks, and now I'm wondering if the van would still pass SMOG if I did it to it, too. I seem to put a lot more gasoline vapor into the atmosphere using state mandated inferior fueling technology, than the plain old vents, nozzles and necks that always work.

Neighbor said he might have some pipe for the grizzly, so around dinner time I went up to his place to take a look. The one piece we could find was too small, but he treated me to some shrimp, tritip, and a couple beers, so it worked out.

Standing out in his field, the phone went off with a notification from the burglar alarm, tripped again by the fan. I shut it off and shortly after that headed home. When I got there I found a card from the Sheriff's Office saying they'd gotten an alarm and came out to check. But that was more than an hour earlier. Never got any notification for that alarm, cell service just isn't good enough to guarantee reception. But I really need to have a talk with the alarm service and get it set up so they only call the cops if they can actually see video of someone inside the house. One more false alarm and I'll get hit with a healthy fine.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

70°F and .48 inches rain. Supposed to catch a lot of wet from Linda starting today Hope you guys in path of Henri are hunkered down and safe.

Today I will apply texture to the walls, just didn’t get there yesterday.

Nice dinner at friends condo. Found it a bit amazing how crowded the beach parks along the way given our COVID explosion.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Sorry about your truck, Roy. Suspect many of us can relate. My story involved a Chevy and a well frozen snowbank many years ago.

70 going to 88.

No storms yesterday, but it took until 5pm for the dew to finally dry, and so I could mow the Frisbee field, which had gotten very high with no recent activity.

Kyle, sound like an interesting trip over to LA. Are your kids back to school yet?

Buppies, your bear doesn't sound good. Be careful. Glad you got some rain.

Thomas, a tropical storm coming, and just had an earthquake down near Rochester/Portsmouth. It probably wasn't big enough for you to feel.

While waiting for the grass to fully dry, replaced my bush hog with the carry all on the 3 point hitch and did some rearranging of some firewood pallets. Then swapped the carry all for the spray tank and installed the pump. I always take my pump off and fill with anti-freeze when not using the sprayer. Then string trimmed for about a full battery's worth. Felt like I had a RNG or RS kind of a day.
Yes Billy, started last Wednesday. No mask mandate....yet.

Sorry Roy, I couldn't resist posting since the web name had skinny in it.

It's cool!!

I know it's a high calorie soup, but since I'm, for all intents and purposes, a vegetarian, I can splurge now and then. I eat very little meat by choice...but I do like a BLT or similar now and then
