Good morning!!!!

70°F and .05 inches rain

My restrained approach of yesterday will continue today with a fresh application of Voltaren this morning.

Had a nice visit checking out progress at friends new house. Still lots of work left. Thinking I might even get the caretaker unit done about same time as their contractor. We enjoyed pizza and beer out on their primary lanai.

Have to go to town in afternoon as the other keg gave out Thu. I usually have something lighter on that side like an IPA.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

In the fogging glasses, I’ve been using Rain-X since the 1989’s on my glasses, motorcycle shields, and of course windshield. Best anti fog I’ve found.

Morning all, Concert went well last night- rained for about 1/2 hour though.
Way back at 12, heavy traffic, three accidents.
One person drove up a ramped center divided and the car was stuck up there perfectly balanced!
Other two were rear enders, one with a gas spill and fire trucks. Bad end to their concert evening.

Kid and friend really had fun. I like Green Day so even I had fun. and luckily was feeling a bit better after a nap in the afternoon.

Mo- glad the garage door fix went well-had to do springs on one of mine last year-
RS- reading your posts makes me tired-great you have the energy!
Ron- haven't seen our turkeys for a while-guess little ones must have come and gone now
Phil, Thomas - stay safe - looks like hurricane right over my brothers and best friends houses on Long Island soon

RNG - I use a Stabilizer bar at the top of my fiberglass ladder- spreads the load more at the top and looks like it would help in the tank situation-https://www.amazon.com/Werner-AC78-Quickclick-Stabilizer/dp/B00004RKD1/ref=asc_df_B00004RKD1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198072898251&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15525341556624144781&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007196&hvtargid=pla-428782614447&psc=1

Got all the chores done, except the haircut...The sumac...well, wasn't a branch down...it was the whole tree. Trunk was 5-6 inches in diameter and the 4052/chipper nicely cleaned that up

Boy! Did I screw up this morning!
I pulled in to the local gas station I regularly go...this is on the way to the dump.
As I'm pulling up to the pumps, a huge RV towing a car pulls in front of me...there was plenty of room between us, so it wasn't like he cut me off. Anyway, he pulls most way passed the pumps, but the towed car blocked access to one pump and that's where the guy stops...blocking use of both pumps. No big deal, I think...I'll stop on the way back from the dump. There wasn't a lot of room between the RV and a flag pole...and when giving wide berth to the RV, I misjudged the flag pole. Left front of the Tacoma is pretty tore up...definitely a new fender and lower bumper guard going to be required. The driver's side door will partially open, so something was pushed back. Also, the hood will open which is good since I needed washer fluid and a right side high beam. Both were accomplished
Wasn't going fast...maybe 10 mph.
I feel like an damn fool...I know this one is going to be several thousand bucks to fix.
Ruined my day, but still did the home side chores

Launched boat and met up with friends, POA roped off boat slips at Pavilion :( pain to work around. did get nap in still very tired tonight.

Good afternoon. Definitely not going to be a hundred plus day here, our "high" is 16C/60F.

Gardening didn't go quite to plan yesterday. Had some rocks to move so I put the bucket on the loader and was fortunate to catch a hydraulic oil leek before too much was lost. A flat face coupler had come loose.

Half an hour later I had loaded with rocks, took them into the field to dump and had my second (less fortunate) catch of the day - my front tyre on a piece of rusty steel, hidden in the long grass.
Kyle, I much prefer your daughter's catch. Did the bass go back into the pond or onto your barbecue ?

View attachment 709825
sorry about your "catches"...Hope you have better catches from now on.

Bingo!

A big item on the "Punch List" I've been pursuing with the contractor is finding some way to determine the State of Charge (SoC) of the battery bank. If I can look at the battery voltage and know the battery is full, I can feel comfortable running the A/C and other large loads when the sun is shining. And if I can look at the battery voltage and know the battery is 80% full, I can back down the loads to protect enough capacity to run the well pumps for at least two hours in the event of a wildfire. But I can't get the contractor to tell me what those numbers are, and the battery manufacture isn't talking, either. And the contractor has purposly disabled measuring devices in both the solar power system and the battery bank that would provide that information. This would be a good place to insert the old pulling-my-hair-out emoticon...
I really hope you're able to figure out the controls, and be able to manage them to your desire.

It's been a long busy week. Had a lot of catching up to do.

Sorry about friend Ken. I have a good friend that is on a respirator right now.

Happy anniversary LS.

Ron, hope son visit was good.

PJ, happy birthday!

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of stuff....sorry.

I made a long trip with a buddy to pick up a huge RV toy hauler. We went to Thibodaux Louisiana. Pronounced tib-a-doe. Almost 1000 miles round trip. Louisiana is a very green state, with water pretty much everywhere. They have to bury people above ground often. We left Thursday at 6:45pm, got there at almost 2am. Got up at 6:30 and had to try 3 places to find a tire store that would replace the tires (buddy had already bought all 6 and brought them). Many of the roads are so rough over there. The RV would hit bumps, and shake us fore and aft. We both need Helga to rub our shoulders and necks....so I didn't do much today. We did stop and eat some cajun food twice.

Those up in the path of the storm, batten the hatches. Put away items that will blow around.

Church tomorrow.

Prayers for our team, and our country.

Took family to Walmart in Bastrop Texas today. What a poorly run store. Maybe nobody wants to give up their free covid money and go to work? IDK. I had to go back into the parking lot to get my own basket.....Then they only had 2 registers open on a Saturday afternoon, with lines of people waiting at each. ARGH. 1 more thing, my family were the oddballs, not having our hair dyed some funky color. out of the many colored heads I saw, there was one lady I would guess at least 70 years old with purple hair.....maybe she was a Hendrix fan.....

A very wet and slightly chilly summers morning for us, high of 17C/63F. I have just put a new bag in the shop vac, time to transform the workshop into a sawdust free zone so I can do a bit of reloading.

Does anyone else wear hearing aids ? I find them the most frustrating thing about mask wearing, any adjustment and the elastic seems almost guaranteed to send them flying. After coming close to loosing one I opted to do without. Soon discovered lip reading is pretty difficult when the person talking to you is wearing a mask :)
That would explain why I am not hearing a lot of instructions from my wife. :) I am supposed to wear aids but hate the things. My stepdaughter reckons she noticed that I lip read a lot. (don't believe her of course.) Maybe masks are a good thing.

Went with the wife to run her errands in Austin. Several places she wanted to go that I thought she needed company. Monday will probably be her errands in San Antonio. She is very organized.

Had an opportunity to stop at a friends new restaurant and have a bite to eat before the trip back. I had some Great Gumbo and she had grilled salmon with grilled asparagus and some delicious sauces.

My volunteer commitments significantly increased this week. Appointed to two new boards. So far it looks like many meetings will be by Zoom so should be able to log in from wherever. I’m really looking forward to it.

My buddy wanted to know how good a flail mower was in his paddocks of long grass. He has an old slasher and just bought a new tractor so is looking to replace his mower. I decided to drive my tractor to his place as I was curious to see how well the flail performed in his thick 2 ft high grass.
It was a 7 klm trip there and took a half hour. Anyway the flail did the job and he was happy with the result. His wife hates the windrows left by the slasher so it looks like he might get a new flail mower. When I got home I removed the flail and fitted my new Ripper to try it out. There was a dead tree I have been trying to push over every now and then and it wouldn't budge. I put the ripper around it and tore up the roots and bingo, it pushed over fairly easily. Then I dug out a bamboo and filled the huge hole in. Getting too hot to work out there too long and it is still Winter. Taking the rest of the day off.

Good morning. Despite what the forecast had promised, we could feel rain on our faces as we started our little walk up the track before breakfast. It was so light, not a ripple showed on the mirror flat surface as we reached the top pond. It took only a few seconds to call up the camera app on my phone and in that time the rain came heavier, destroying the reflections and sending us home at a fast pace. Sometimes a memory is as good as a picture, though not as easy to share.

Roy, hope you have a better day today ! Daft things happen to us all.

Poured first cup of coffee. 65° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 88° with a few clouds. Got a couple of small things done in shop. But mostly stayed inside until son got back from Woodward Dream Cruise. Did get my ride in his Mustang. But did not get to drive it. Something about 79 years old and 700+ HP not being a good match. Isn't that how old John Force is.
Bird bath time.

Roy, sorry to hear about truck mishap. Hope repairs are done quickly.

Mostly, I do have some tractor pictures I want to share. Will get them posted after my son heads home today.

RNG, I use the same ladder stabilizer that has already be posted. Make ladder much more stable.

Kyle, glad you made home from trip safely.

Thomas, great fawn pictures.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

69° right now...high about 80° and maybe some rain this afternoon.
When I mowed yesterday, I didn't get the fenced in backyard, so I'll do that today...after that, take the day as it comes...

The plastic is really slippery there and the ladder tries to slide sideways.o_O Can you tell I'm not happy with the situation in this video?

Watching you up there made me feel queasy - I could just image the ladder falling away with you still clinging to the top of the tank !

I have some pieces of innertube that I wrap around the ladder legs at the top whenever there is a 'slippery surface' that the ladder has to lean against

good morning all
heavy rain at the moment, about 1.5 inches from the storm going North offshore, throwing rain bands inland, and right now it's over my head.
Phil, coming up to you soon...

not thrilled with driving to church in this wet mess, have to take a bunch of small back roads over streams and this might get interesting this morning.
Maybe I'll take the longer way and stay on larger roads.

Roy, so sorry that happened to you. You'll get it fixed.
When I hear those annoying beepers saying I'm too close to something, I've learned to assume they are right and time to double check.

enjoying my coffee with sound of rain coming down very soothing
a great day to have a metal roof
