81F and partly cloudy @ 13:00, HI 85F, headed up to a high of 84F.

Ten Day looking good at the moment: Very low chances of rain thru this coming Wednesday, otherwise calling for two days with a chance of thunderstorms ... but less than a 50% chance.

That bodes well for getting a whole lot of outside work done in the coming days.

Agenda for today will include:

Finish mowing upper front.

Finish spraying weedkiller in sprayer, mix up next tank.

More compost screening.

Check north side of pole barn, if dry enough, remove remainder of rock retaining wall. Same for east side.

Check creek crossing, if dry enough more dirt work there.

Probably find some other things to target as well, along the way ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

just made appt for Moderna booster Aug 25th. First day booster vaccines are in local hospital

79 and muggy, this batch of showers moving on out. More to come.

being domestic, bathroom mostly finished and clean, had to leave to let Clorox fumes get sucked out.
now I've got that bleach smell in my nose, guess that's getting a good cleaning too...

Congrats, Bird.

Got our 2nd Moderna shot in March so likely will wait until Nov for booster unless we get a call from the clinic to come in earlier.

I’m in the every 2 year DL renewal group with Birthday coming up in Nov. when at the eye Dr the other day ran into a friend who recounted the problems he is having renewing his which are back to appointment only. Sure enough earliest Dec 16 was earliest appintment I could get.

First cup of coffee is cooling. 62° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 87° with sunny skies. Another good day with my son yesterday. Mule has been loaded on trailer. Headed to Oakley MI. to attend Mid MIchigan Old Gas Tractor Association Show. That will fill my day.

LS, Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs LS.

Got to get going. Need to get a few things ready for today.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.
You will have to be careful Ron. All those beautiful bird pics are likely to finish up on Wikipedia! LOL

Bird my brother in Denton county may be in competition with you for the first in the county. You win for TBN but in the county unless you got your jab before 9:30 A.M. this morning you are in second place. He got his at his Dr. office when he got his seasonal flu shot.
Our Dr will not give the Flu shot within 2 weeks of having the Covid Vaccine. Surprised that they do it over there.

Terrible day yesterday.
I pulled a muscle in my right shoulder and then my back went as well. On top of that I have had little sleep because of my hands carpal tunnel and Ostio arthritis, so went to the Dr and he sent me for Xrays which they did straight away as they were not busy. Looks like I'm heading for another op or two. Also had a bone density scan to check hips etc. Wonder what they will find there. Took me all afternoon and I could barely walk when I got home. Took 2 Codral Fortes and a Endone and went to bed late in the afternoon. Woke up later but couldn't eat anything so went back to bed.
This morning it appears the tablets have worked as I am feeling a lot better. No trip to the club today after taking those tablets sadly. Need to catch up on sleep.

Truck arrived yesterday morning early with about 8 lengths of copper pipe and dozens of fittings to re-plumb the house before it gets clad. Over $1100 for that lot. Lucky my plumber is free! He reckons he can do it in a weekend. Wow! I have a new higher capacity household pressure pump to fit at the same time.
Seems like the older I get the more needs done around the place. Doesn't make any sense to me but, such is life.

txdon said, "The stores here have changed their mask signs, before they said mask recommended for unvaccinated, now the sign says mask recommended for all. About 50% were wearing mask."

Don, EVERYONE in that hospital where we got the shots was wearing masks today. And I haven't seen anyone in Walmart or Sam's Club without a mask lately. Sure looks like it's here to stay.

Incidentally, Don, if your brother got ahead of me in getting the shots, I sure don't mind. Just glad he's being safe.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Bird, wait till Winter comes then people will complain about masks if they wear glasses. My glasses steam up all the time. It's a pain.

How well I understand. I have that problem at the grocery store AND I had that problem doing just the tiny amount of paper work this morning to get our shots. And you said it; it's a pain.

I sure am glad not to be in Afghanistan right now. Yet another sign of the approaching apocalypse.
A guy I grew up with retired a couple of years ago from the Marines as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He spent a short stint working at the Pentagon, didn't like it, and ended up at the State Department. He is in Kabul this week getting the remaining embassy personnel out, and securing or destroying sensitive equipment (computers mostly). Not a job I envy.

Boy, isn’t that a PITA. Very frustrating.

For no-fog glasses this has worked good for me. spray it on. let it dry (I use a hair dryer to speed it to 1 minute and then wipe the lenses. It will work for 2-3 days before you have to re-apply.

Correct.
flu shot, (and any other vaccines) should be separated by at least two weeks, per CDC recommendations.

I’ve had both flu and pneumonia on the same bust a couple of times. I got the tetanus shot about 4-5 days after my second COVID shot, opposite arm.

Good evening!

Good day today. The garage door motor went perfect. The new circuit board went in as planned and it worked! So, I am back in business.

The rain held off so I was able to get a head start on mowing.

The only “problem” was I saw a dead owl in the field while mowing. Must have died recently as it looked good and no decay. I’m no expert but it had no trama or damage. Maybe died of old age? I didn’t have my phone so I couldn’t take a picture. I put it in the FEL and “buried” it in the woods.

It got me thinking why I don’t see more dead birds or animals around. It’s very rare. Perhaps they die in the woods or they get carried away?

Have a great weekend all.

MoKelly

70F and clear @ 22:30, heading down to a low of 61F. Sun seemed very warm today, high hit 86.5 ... probably the humidity.

Checked north side of pole barn to remove rock wall, seemed wet, so I passed.

I screened about 8 - 10 bucketloads of compost instead and dug out another 15 - 20 bucketloads to loosen them up and let them air out/dry out in the sun a little:

IMG_1273 copy.jpg

The screened stuff that hadn't decomposed all the way was used to cover the new stuff at the end of the pile:

IMG_1274 copy.jpg

Then I took two more bucketloads of dirt from the dirt pile and dumped them on the trail in the woods:

IMG_1275 copy.jpg

After that I got rest of upper front mowed, followed by mowing a little less than half of the lower front ... down to the point where it started to get wet.

Went back down to the house and made up a Braunschweiger, mayo and mustard sandwich for lunch.

Next item was do a little work on the rock wall at the rear of the pole barn, got about half of that removed with the loader. Was pretty wet there as well.

Then back up to do more compost screening, managed to get some decent progress on replenishing the screened compost pile:

IMG_1276 copy.jpg

Didn't manage to get all the compost I had dug out to dry screened though, more work on that tomorrow.

Headed back down to house at 19:45 to place dinner order at the Chinese place for pick up.

After that, I headed back out and started mowing down here around the house until The Woman got home with the food. Got the east side about 75% done.

Have to feed the downstairs cat and then will pull the pre cleaner on the Cub and wash it out.

All in all, a decent day.

Hope everyone had a great one ... (y)
