PopG - how much does that beam weigh?

The original beam is a hand hewn Chestnut beam with mortised posts. I’m not sure what it weighs, we added steel flitch plates to either side and drilled through the beam (about 12”) to bolt the plates together, sandwiching the beam. Each piece of steel weighed about 140 lbs. I had square holes for the carriage bolts water jet cut into the plates with close tolerance fit, so the challenge was to drill the holes dead square and level so the bolts would go through the holes.

Less humid tonight.
Finally changed the HST filter on the L3940. One of those jobs I started a year ago, but couldn’t get the filter off with plyers. Turns out to be very easy, hit the grooved base a couple times with a punch and hammer and it turned easy, then used filter plyers. Used the vacuum on the fill hole, and loss very little fluid, most from the filter.
Lillies really smell good.

Battery on husqvarna mower wouldn’t charge. Did sharpen the blades and cleaned under the deck, and mowed a lap. Going to take it to dad.

Another 4+ hours mowing, good progress. Unfortunately that set of Kevlar belts didn’t last. All three like delaminated in less than 10 hours.

Sent email to vendor.

good morning all
a warm 71 going up to 91 today in fair weather.

David, sorry about the belts. Something must be out of alignment? Those kevlar belts should be durable...

nice lilies Buckeye. Can almost smell them from here.

First cup of coffee is cooling. 65° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 83° with sunshine in afternoon. Took all day to get .27" of rain yesterday. Did a little touch up paint on table and chairs. I think that project is done except for moving it into house. Take Sassy for grooming this morning. Then put weed killer down. May need to mow grass when it finally dries out.

Alien, cover looks good.

David, something going to use up another set of belts. Something else wrong with bearing where you replaced bolts?

Buckeye, nice looking lilies. Have not figured out what has happened to my lillie garden. Its either deer or a red bug that has killed almost all of them.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

A bit more on my belt problem.
Seems I couldn’t keep the kevlar belts properly tensioned. I could mow maybe an hour before they’d be slipping too much. Eventually to the point that I ran out of adjustment.
I replaced them with a mismatched set of non kevlar, previously used belts and mowed another 2 1/2 hours without problem and when done the the tension seemed just as I started.

Good morning! 69˚F heading to mid 90s. Yesterday I got half the tin on the side of the barn before I saw a storm heading in my direction. The sky was turning black. I took off for the drive home and the winds were really strong shaking the Ranger and traffic slowed to 35mph in the torrential rain. Mom said at her house there was no rain but the wind was really strong and she could barley close the side door to the garage. I am suspecting there is more wind damage and missing tin to the barn as I was not able to seal it up. Oh no. No rain at home.

A lot of "BreakThrough" Covid cases being reported. 333 in Austin. Don't know if the reported 5% of vaccinated will still get covid or if it is a higher % outside of the study. Is your area in reporting breakthrough cases?
