46° right now...high, about 80° today...

After work, I mowed about 2/3rds of the lawn, then took care of the cats (stepdaughter's critters)...then some chow and a beer. I'll finish the lawn this afternoon and probably start string trimming

Wife and stepdaughters are thinking about touring the USS Wisconsin (WW II battleship museum) today. I hope they do...

First cup of coffee has been poured. 58° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 82° with cloudy skies. Had to turn furnace in house back on Mowed grass yesterday. After I sharpened blades. Then it rained. About all I got done yesterday. May get back at table and chairs today.
Yesterday's sunrise.

Don, no moon picture yet. It is only visible here from 10 pm to 5am. Part of that time it is hid behind trees.

Fuddy, nice Island pictures.

Buckeye, good sky picture.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

It's only 44 up in the mountains and it looks clear as a bell on the webcam, so sure wish I could go for a long hike. I've been doing well since my surgery Friday...a good nurse is my wife. Had a scare last week before my surgery, but have a good surgeon. Not able to do much physical for 6 weeks, but was able to roast 3 batches of coffee yesterday and watch some baseball.

Ron, you sleep later than I do. I'm almost through with my second cup of coffee.:):):)

good morning all
Lovely morning, cool 52 degrees going up to high 70's today, just perfect

Plant nursery only had yellow delicious apple trees, not my favorite, too soft an apple so I passed.

Wingsprd, hope you feel better soon and have a good recovery.

dermatologist appt today at noon, otherwise nothing planned.

I tried to assemble the bench grinder and what a disaster the instructions were. One big piece of paper that unfolded like an old fashioned map,
first you hunt down the English, then it's all pictograms which were not helpful. Not complicated but just bad instructions, surprising for Wen, will have to stare
at completed picture and just assemble using common sense.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning
It’s 52 and supposed to make it to 75 under cloudless skies today. Low humidity, just a wonderful day.

Yesterday was pretty much the same. Just too nice of a day to be in the shop all day. FedEx just brought me a Makita 36 volt “chainsaw on a stick” that will extend to 13 feet, so it was the perfect day to try it out. I’ve got to say that it worked perfectly, much better than the Echo gas one that I used to borrow from a friend. I used the 4-1 bucket on the tractor to carry the downed limbs to the brush pile.
I did make significant progress in the shop as well, got two cabinets cut dado’d and glued, and applied the finish to two more.

Today, I’ve got to go to Newport News which will take a chunk out of the middle of the day. Hopefully I’ll squeeze some mowing in before and after that. I can’t believe how fast the grass is growing.

Popgadget and I have been helping Makita sales lately, I just ordered the cordless hedge trimmer.
The forsythia bush at the end of the driveway needs to be kept trimmed or it blocks my vision looking for
traffic. Once again I go into Amazon and it says you bought this in May of 2016. Yup. I wonder who has it now, bet
it's still running fine. Since I have the batteries it only makes sense, since I only have to buy the tool.

Good morning! 77˚F heading to mid 90 with the H.I. in the 100+ range.
Yesterdays park cedarcide went well we finished the area where the new park benches will be place an hour early because we had 12 people helping. The temp was ok, about 86˚ with the H.I. at 93˚F. Still no opening date set. ??

With the 1.6" rain we had Monday the lawn grass took off, so today is a mow day.

Biochar, I need biochar. A good garden needs good soil and good soil needs a good medium for microbes to live in. The best medium is biochar. When microbe dense compost and biochar are mixed I'll get the best organic soil. The people that have access to a burn pile are lucky. They can make theirs easy. The biochar is the black charcoal kind of glassy finish (not ash), the charcoal of incomplete burn. It's a little harder in town to make it in a BBQ pit. Of course Amazon sells it also for $60 for a 5 gallon bucket. Amazon.com : Aries Green Biochar Soil Amendment 5-Gallon Plastic Bucket – USDA, IBI Certified – 100% Biochar : Garden & Outdoor

Think of that next time you let your burn pile go to ash and maybe throw some sand or water on it toward the end of the burn and break up the charcoal and put it in your compost pile.

Good morning. Right now it’s a pleasant 71F while drinking coffee on porch.

Warming up today to 88F.

Yesterday they thought it may rain but that looks less likely.

Wife makes it to Cleveland today on her bike adventure. Then, tomorrow they take Amtrak back to Cincy and drive home. She says the trail (all paved) has been fantastic and scenic.

The kitty misses her. At night, kitty likes to snuggle up against her to sleep. Last few nights kitty gets on the bed, looks at me, looks at her empty spot, meows and gives me that “what did you do” look.

I have a few “work” related stuff today in my wife’s absence. Nothing all that stressful.

Have a good one and keep safe.

Good Morning!!!! 67F @ 5:30AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. An
Excessive Heat Watch starts Saturday running through next Wednesday. Daily highs approaching 105F and higher, lows only dropping into the low 70s and high 60s. A/Cs gonna get a real workout.

I've only used the new Makita pole saw enough to verify it works at least as well as the Stihl it replaces, Paul. That's good enough, especially knowing it'll take right off next time it's needed instead of fussing with parts degraded by what passes for gasoline these days. I need to get an ad up to get rid of the Stihl...

Makita just released a new 18V grease gun. I'm tempted, but will give it time to accumulate some reviews. I really like my Lincoln pneumatic gun, but there's no gettin' around wrestling with the air hose every time I use it. That, and waiting for the compressor to come up to pressure. I'll still keep the Lincoln if I get the Makita, and use a good high pressure/high temperature grease (NLGI GC-LB) in it for wheel bearings and such. The Makita will get moly grease for the pins on the tractor.

moonClouds.jpg

Shot this with the iPhone the other night. The moon was even brighter last night, being full and with no clouds to hide behind. As has become the trend lately, this full moon has a whole string of ridiculous names assigned to it, even though it just looks like another full moon to me...

Started yesterday with a shovel in my hands, and finished it the same way. In between, the backhoe got a workout finishing the last 35' of trench. I'm running out of places to put the dirt! Got ahold of a new trucker yesterday and have a load of sand showing up here at 8AM today.

Need to make a few phone calls this morning then off to town for a grocery run this afternoon.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Wngsprd glad you’re healing well.

Mostly I understood the point and I’m an optimist, always see the light. My point was no matter how you see the glass it can always be refilled to the top if you believe it can.

70, after a low of 49 felt like fall.

My Apple tree is really full of fruit this year, might get a couple of pies and some applesauce if the deer don’t show up and eat them first. Mowing grass as soon as it dries a bit.
Have a good day.

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 88° today. We're expecting some potentially severe storms sometime today, making their way across Missouri at the moment.

Wife brought home sammiches from Arby's last night for dinner. Opened the bag to find only one order of curly fries instead of two. So, we shared.
Yesterday morning I stopped at McD's for breakfast. Got to the highway before opening the bag to find they didn't include the hashbrown.
Sunday evening I picked up dinner from Applebee's, a relatively new location in Breese IL. Ordered The Wife's pasta with extra sauce. Opened the bag at home to find both orders had almost no sauce at all. So, we opened a jar of our own.
The fast food industry has never really been all that great when it comes to getting stuff right. Seems to be getting exponentially worse of late. I've been considering starting a log to track my experiences with these restaurants. I complain a lot about it on Facebook, too. Maybe I should start a new FB page about it. That would probably be entertaining.

I completely understand that guy's stance, RS. Pretty much any time we try to sell something on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, it's a struggle. People either don't show up, or show up with less money than agreed hoping we'll take it just to get rid of the item. One guy recently wanted us to ship a large item to him, even though the ad said "pick up only." Another lady didn't show up one day after The Wife had rearranged her schedule to be there. When The Wife sent her a text message asking if she was close, she replied that she wasn't coming because she didn't realize how far it was, and didn't want to drive that far for the item.
Too many people are just inconsiderate.

I went to McDonalds and ordered a sausage egg and cheese biscuit. When I opened it I had a sausage McMuffin. You order what you want, they give you what the want you to have.

Morning all, cool and sunny around 50 when I got up.
Bridge walk this morning, foot was not happy, but at least was able to do it.

Sodamo- sounds like progress for Sophie , great news that she is progressing well.
Wngsprd- good to hear you are back from surgery and healing-

So this morning walking the dog, see a squirrel bolt from the woods, followed by a rabbit , followed shortly by a fox.
Dog wanted in on the chase too :) but held her back, she makes the fox look big.

On bridge walk, 6 or so vultures up on one of the restaurant roofs ridge sunning themselves.

First head of broccoli from garden was pretty good, grilled with steak.

Jeff Kline was out front of his store playing guitar this morning.

Stay safe and be well

Too many people are just inconsiderate.
Maybe it all goes back to how they were raised. Maybe working in a fast food place is a sign your choices in life haven't that good. But if you didn't have anyone go guide you, to mentor you, to show you how to make your way, it's hard to figger it out for yourself. No, I'm not making apologies for that sort of behavior, but it's easy to understand why there is so much of it.

Maybe you can find a convenient mom'n'pop cafe that does takeout?

   / Good morning!!!! #134,759
We need to just cook at home more, whether we feel like it or not.
I've never been a fan of fast food, and will only eat it if there's no other choice. Otherwise I'll use the Internet to find a well reviewed restaurant that also does carry out. But mostly, I eat at home. That lets me eat a lot healthier than anything that is prepared by a fast food joint or even a mom'n'pop cafe. I make big batches, package up the leftovers into individual servings in zip lock freezer bags, and toss them into the freezer. Very handy at the end of a hard day when I don't feel like cooking...

   / Good morning!!!! #134,760
We over-cook most of the time so we have lunches and/or dinners for the next few days. Unfortunately, we sometimes get lazy, and takeout becomes the easy last minute solution. We both love to cook. It's really just a matter of making the time to do it.
