73F and "Fair" @ 12:45, heading up to a high of 75F.

Woman says it is getting "hot" outside ... but just opened up the windows in the house ...

Slow getting rolling this morning, wasn't able to fall asleep until after 04:00 this morning.

Woman noted a bit ago that the J. ornatus has reappeared in the upstairs tank ... after an absence of around a month.

WTH ???

Only thing I can figure out is maybe it swam down the output tube of the filter, but that's kind of hard to imagine ... given that the tube isn't much larger than she is, and has a 90 degree bend.

A little thin, but doesn't look much worse for wear.

Belt sander out on truck for delivery.

Agenda for today:

More hosta/shrub removal and replanting (as decreed by The Woman ... (y))

She wants to incorporate the Black-eyed Susans we picked up into the day lily planting up around the shop. Seems like that would work ... but we'll need more of them. Fortunately there are a number of folks on Craigs here locally that are selling plants for reasonable.

Speaking of Craig's List, there a guy who has a Scotts "Elite" walk-behind spreader for sale for dirt cheap not far from the house. He purchased new this year, getting rid of it because he's moving to an apartment - figured it might be handy to have to cover the odd nooks and crannies that aren't easily gotten to with the Cub and the Chapin. Need to run over and snag that.

Need to fill water buffalo and haul it up to water the newly planted hosta.

Had wanted to aerate down here around the house yesterday, but didn't get to it (not enough time and only one me) ... probably have to wait for next rain due later this week (Sat/Sun)

Possibly need to mow again ... if I can get to it. Next couple of days are supposed to be nice with highs in the 80's, so doesn't have to be done today.

Pressure washing will likely wait until tomorrow when it's warmer out.

Hopelessly behind on replying to this thread but ... :

BEF,

Keep mowing those weeds ... eventually you'll have grass.

Bupp,

Sorry to hear about the intestinal issues. I hate to say it, but I'm all to familiar with that sort of thing.

Drew,

Yeah ... nice to have a good set of reliable wheels. Hopefully MIL's car will go to someone who appreciates it.

Well, time to get to it.

I was mowing some long grass yesterday with the flail when My wife pointed out a very large tree stump and asked if I could push it out. I said I doubt it as I had tried on numerous occasions to move it. Anyway I decided to give it a bump with the bucket and it moved slightly. Never done that before. So I gradually moved around it nudging it from different angles and it started to give in. The ground luckily was soft this time. Eventually i managed to push it over. It was massive with huge root system but most of the roots had by now rotted so it let go. I was surprised (and pleased) but it was a struggle to push it away into a burn pile as it was so big. Nothing worse that old tree stumps sticking up in an otherwise clean paddock.

Same here Thomas. We have had some cooler days but mostly sunny and great working outside weather. It is middle of Winter but more like late Spring. Haven't really had a Winter at all. We even have birds nesting!

73F and mostly cloudy (supposedly) @ 18:15.

Picked up the spreader, seller seemed like a nice guy, new beautiful home in a new subdivision, real nice late model Porsche in the garage.

Was kinda of curious as to why he'd be getting rid of a not cheap spreader ($99) that he'd just brought this year for so cheap ($9)

Asked if I had the price right/wasn't a typo and $9 was all he really wanted.

He said you're the first person who actually arrived and showed up - you can just have it - I was going to take it to Salvation Army if no one came.

Found out he hadn't suffered some calamity (health or otherwise), just a job transfer ... figured he'd rent as it was easier.

I had $12 in my wallet which I offered to him and which he accepted.

Said he would use to buy his kids some ice cream ... (y)

He thanked me for my concerns and I thanked him for the great deal on the spreader.

Wish the rest of the day had gone as well as that ...

Mystery plant is still unknown. I’m eliminating all my possibilities.

It might be what my grandpa called a pig Mellon but I don’t know the real name. He just fed it too his pigs, I hope it’s not that.

My planted seeds are up - beans and okra.

Full moon Ron.

Good evening.

It was a great day. Got everything (mostly) on my list completed. Had a nice day with my youngest son. We were outside and it was perfect - nice temps, low humidity and sunshine. He was off work snd helping me at the farm.

On the way home we stopped to eat at a steak place.

It was just nice. Since he started work we have less and less time to spend together. I understand kids grow and have other interests and friends.

So, a day together with him helping Dad is special - at least to me.
