Is it at the Puna Gardens? Puna Gardens is located on the Big Island of Hawaii in beautiful “downtown” Kurtistown, a small town that sits on the slopes of Mauna Loa at an elevation of 900ft

Nope

Good evening all 46F for the start, mostly clear, and light breeze. Windy day, mostly clear during day, and high temp was 75F. Cleaning lady prep to start, then worked on finding a gopher tunnel. Then worked on getting paper to burn better, no happy with results so put matches on list. Went for bike ride, then lunch and grocery shopping. Short nap, dinner then to wanted to fire off bunch of matches only to find gopher resealed tunnel :( More gopher antics tomorrow.

On the Ford Ranger you have to remove a panel in the wheel well to change the oil filter.

On the Kia Stinger you have to remove the spare tire to get to the battery under it.
On an Altima, you have to pull out a plastic inner fender for the oil filter.
Three weeks after the Texas Mask Mandate order was lifted covid cases are still falling in Texas. Some news media do not like this - no doom and gloom to report.
Starting Monday all adults in Texas are eligible to get vaccinated.
Surprised to see the cases coming down. Brazos county is adding thousands of previously unreported cases. I'm guessing the college students didn't bother getting tested maybe?

Wifey got her 1st shot today. She said it hurt, and arm is sore. Now saying she feels a bit feverish tonight. I read that you shouldn't take NSAIDS if you get fever after the shot. Said they could reduce body's immune system's abilities. She took a tylenol. I wanted her to tough it out.

Eric, Muhammed is getting rich off of weather system adds.

Popgadget, cool gadget. Pork shoulders is the new fajitas, often on sale for $1/lb. Now fajitas are upwards of $8/lb.

Prayers for our team, and our country.

Kyle from CDC site

Helpful tips
Talk to your doctor about taking over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, or antihistamines, for any pain and discomfort you may experience after getting vaccinated. You can take these medications to relieve post-vaccination side effects if you have no other medical reasons that prevent you from taking these medications normally.

It is not recommended you take these medicines before vaccination for the purpose of trying to prevent side effects.

Poured first cup of coffee. 36° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 59° with cloudy skies and rain later in day. Grocery shopping went very well. Very few people out shopping. Must have been the weather. Helped son install a new Reese hitch on his truck and trailer. Off to Port Huron to visit my aunt and uncle today.
Michigan covid cases 718,455. Deaths 17,023. Oakland county cases 84,210. Deaths 2,052. Michigan is reporting over 5,000 new cases everyday. So much for lock down cutting back on cases. Last week numbers were in 1K's.

Don, hope the setting in phone setting stop the unwanted calls. It will help if you have all your cousins in your contact list to not miss any calls from them.

Drew, I have been looking at new vehicles. Probably not buying. But I am surprised by how many have suggestions that premium fuel be used for best performance.

3Ts, good to hear you got your concrete down. Any pictures.

Eric, cannot help with your weather reports. Had a total rainfall of 1.46" yesterday.

Mostly, have you watched Caddyshack lately? 🙃

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Temps have cooled down from yesterday, I think it hit 79 here, and will be about 70 today in nice sunshine. Then rain comes in tonight and tomorrow.
Unlike some of you there is no shortage of rain here, just plenty of Spring showers.

this was not the message I wanted to get from Honda:
There has been a minimum 2 week interruption imposed on production due to the global microchip issue.
When production resumes, we will get back into the queue and have a better idea on your availability to move forward

So who knows when they are going to build my truck at this point. Audi sure did run nicely on all four cylinders...

going to be a busy day. Having my cruising friend over for dinner, we are splitting the pulled pork I picked up at Popgadget's yesterday, and then we will look
at cruise line info. Another mystery there too...CDC articles all over the place about not letting ships leave US before July.
I really want to cruise earlier in the season vs later due to nicer weather but looks like covid is running the show here. The only positive part of this is if Celebrity has to postpone
my cruise, they will automatically rebook it with a 125% credit. Maybe enough to get a nicer room or maybe keep the credit for next year.

Don, thanks for recipe, I bookmarked it and sent a copy to my sister who will also want to try it.

So food shopping this morning, then major cleanup of house, need to carry all the shipping boxes I brought home down steep steps to basement and wanted to wait until
I was rested this morning to do that. I have pallets on the basement floor to stack things though some of the boxes are plastic bins and they can go anywhere. Several of these boxes have
high school and college memorabilia and they have already gotten wet once in a prior house when basement flooded. Am a lot more careful now.

I'll find my second grade report card, my favorite, and while I did get all A's, the teacher wrote on the back under comments (remember when they still did that?)
talks too much

heh heh but then you knew that :)

Thinking the Tempest reports w/m2, so if I know my m2 I can figure theoretical watts?

WU reports light intensity in W/M2. In order to correlate that with solar panel output, I can get a real time value for the solar array output from the OpticsRE monitoring system.

The technical data sheet for your solar panels will have graphs showing output v irradiance (it is non-linear).

Another thing you could take account of when relating weather station info to panel output is the air temperature and strength/direction of the wind. That is because solar panel output power decreases as they get hotter. It is typically 0.3 to 0.4 % less for each degree Celcius.

Good morning all

39 now highs in the mid to upper 50’s and sunny today. Winds 5 to 10 mph.

Yesterday was another windy day with gusts close to 40 mph, so more pick up sticks.
The usual Saturday dump run and enjoy the sun today.

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning, we had a few snow flurries last night thanks to the wind moving around and bringing a short cold snap all the way from Greenland.

After spending some time reading about deterring cormorants I have come to realise that I won't be able to keep them away. The best I can do is to make some refuges where fish can safely gather without the birds being able to catch them. Yesterday I put my new neoprene waders on and went for a paddle, to try and learn a bit more about what is below the surface.

With the pond not showing up on maps before 1970 I hadn't expected to find too much silt, however there are many places where I couldn't get much more than 10 yards from the bank before I would soon sink into 6" or more of soft mud. Even with a wading stick to help balance I find it tricky to turn around in mud while wearing waders. I was doing a slow shuffle turn at one point when the wind suddenly gusted and put small waves on the surface, luckily the water didn't spill over the top of the chest waders or trigger my self inflating life jacket. I will need a calmer day - or a boat - before I attempt piling alder posts into the bed.

Mostly, did you once mention having fish refuges on your lake ?

I forgot some excitement yesterday. Wow was it windy, just as predicted. Driving home from Popgadget's farm, on a main road (413) car in front swerves violently to the left.
I hit my brakes not knowing what was in the road and good thing I did. As I watched a tree fall right into the road, blocking it entirely. Thankfully not a big trunk, just a huge pile of smashed
dead limbs, mother natures's pruning. There was no way any of us could drive over this so guy facing me stopped in traffic and I had a little let's roll moment and out we went and hauled all the brush off the road so two long lines of traffic could now pass.

Then later on way to brother's home he called me and said don't take this road, trees down blocking it. I think 202 itself was blocked, saw lots of fire trucks and equipment in road thankfully just past entrance to brother's community. Talk about picking up sticks, they were everywhere. Spent two hours at brother's having glass of wine and munchies while his Generac ran constantly, the whole neighborhood was buzzing with gens running. At first I thought someone was powerwashing their house but it was dozens of gens running at once. Just before I left power came back on and the neighborhood was quiet again. My brother lives right next to woods and it was nice to hear the birds again.
