Good morning, 52 here and more, yet more rain to come. Power plants, I've been working in them since 1988. First at SRP in Aiken, SC, then Santee Cooper, a small excitation company and now with Emerson, in the excitation division. All I do is voltage regulator retrofits, service, startup and commissioning work. I travel. I have a 4 month, 4 unit job just south of Milwaukee this spring, 4 - LM 6000 gas turbines. The plant I was at yesterday is a Santee Cooper plant in Georgetown, SC about an hour from me. They are having issues with getting voltage/VARS as low as they would like at night when they come down to minimum load. It will be an ongoing science project.

I've been collecting vintage cars for years that are in all different levels of disrepair. The 2 in this conversation are a 67 Chevelle SS 396, 4 speed and a 77 F150 4wd pickup. I've always wanted a Farmall 140 to garden with. I have a large farmer friend that leases my row crop on my farm and he happened to have 4 - 140s. One of them is as good as the day it was bought and is original. After heartache and discussion we agreed that I would get that 140 and another not as good one for the 2 vehicles and parts needed to restore. I got rid of a bunch of what my wife refers to as junk and got something I have wanted forever. I also made a ton of room in my shop and sheds. I am stoked beyond belief. All I have left to do is get the cars there and pick up the tractors. I have been hauling parts to him for a couple of days. I can't get the tractors until I get my new trailer that's being built so it may be a few days before I can post up some pics.

I am a tractor guy too, love the old heavy duty big garden tractors. My Massey does all the real work except spraying. I do that with my Cub Cadet 1864.
Saying that, I can’t see me without at least one classic car. Currently finishing wife’s ‘70 El Camino.

bang bang bang bang bang
oh dear
brand new snowblower must have bent the auger as it is banging on housing.
Didn't even hear/know it happened until the thumping started half way down the lane.
Dealer back out Monday, 90 bucks later. Sigh
situation where I wish the shear bolt had worked

I don't have the arm strength any more to bend the auger fin back in place nor on a brand new machine try
Fed the birds, inside licking my mechanical wounds...figuratively.
I think a trip to the local orchard through snowy woods is in order since I'm out of apples.

Good morning All.

27 early when the dogs wanted out. 29 now and headed to 34. About 4” snow fell overnight. Our driveway and parking area cleaned up to await some sunshine. Sounds like it will stay cloudy with more snow this weekend.

Welcome to Workinonit. Sounds like you will fit in around here just fine.

Good luck with the knee operation LS. Also, hope the closing on the house goes well. (or “settlement” as they say in PA).

Question for the group. Curious- is it closing or settlement or something else to describe all the paperwork for a real estate sale where you live?

Have a great day.

Frank

Closing or settlement. Guess you could call it a signing party.

29° with more snow falling. Around 4”. Looks like more coming Saturday into Sunday.

Might venture into work later, then again, might not.

Good morning all, 17 going up to 35 and grey, at least 2" snow on the ground.
Will do some light plowing today since more snow coming.

For Starlink, is it affected by rain/snow like regular satellite dishes?

Alien - sorry to hear about the pubs and hope all the firefighters are ok, heard a 74 year old FF was injured?

PopG - a 24 track disk recorder on firewire- that sounds different. Used Firewire a lot , but that was soo long ago. Think I still have some FW cables around here somewhere.

Buppies -glad water fix not $

Drew - sorry about the snow blower- maybe a rock ?

LS - good luck on closing

Frank-in NJ/PA/NY it's called closing when everyone shows up at the table to sign and pay up. Never a fun day, but what a releif when done.
I have done closings in many states, and sometimes I think the states and locals make up rules on the fly, but they always figure out how much you have to pay.

Stay safe and be well, off to muck about in the snow.

Looks like a deer highway out there. hoof marks everywhere, seemingly random directions. One small hoof set, must be the baby I saw yesterday. She is growing up fast and about 3/4 Doe size now.

This morning I found an email from late yesterday afternoon from TurboTax saying that my return had been accepted by the IRS and refund should arrive within 3 weeks.

I got the same e-mail yesterday. I thought IRS was not accepting till the 12th. I guess they changed it.

14°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 23° today. The chickens seem to be enjoying the heat lamp.

Wife didn't go to trainings last night, so we chilled a bit and watched a movie, something we don't do very often anymore. "Hitman's Bodyguard" we found quite entertaining.

We order pretty much everything for our dogs and cats from Chewy, Rich. Those boxes with cat litter are always heavy.

Curious what 24-track recorder you have, Paul. I used a Roland VS-1824CD machine for almost 20 years before finally acquiescing to the computer-based DAW world about a year ago. Sorry I waited so long now. I remember when the Alesis ADATs came out and turned the recording world on its head. These days, everyone with a laptop has unlimited tracks, so long as they have the processing power to use them. Crazy advancements in the recording technology available to home recording music geeks like me.

Toppop, I have a few left. I am doing a resto-mod on a 67 Chevy PU right now. I have a 63 Nova SS in the que. These International Farmall 140s are getting hard to find now. This one is as good as I have seen. It's ready to garden with all of the cultivators. I saw one sell on the equipment auction this past Saturday for $4850 with 8 to 10 people in the mmix for it. Based on that price, the lower condition one I am getting is worth that. The good one is probably worth $7000. I think I got a great deal.

I missed that story! Are they still searching for his body?

Vast majority here say closing, but settlement is also used.

Good morning! 28˚F heavy rain and some frozen rain that is turning into icicles, strange, that it is not snowing, but snow is predicted later this morning. Whipper woke us up early to report thunder. It is snowing now in-between some rain. No snow is sticking on the ground. The high today is reported to be 34˚F but I do not think it will be above freezing.

I have an appointment to get the car inspected tomorrow, hope it will not be icy. The State sent a registration due notice but it said it could not determine the cost until after it was inspected. I never heard of that.

Never heard of settlement just closing is used on real estate transactions here. I'll have to check with Christy to see if the terminology in Texas has been changed by all those people moving here from other states.

drive safely Don, bad weather accident outside of Ft Worth killed a bunch of people.

I always understood the terminology to be you went to closing and at the settlement table, title passed to new owner.
