TXDon- Never heard of settlement just closing is used on real estate transactions here.

Like you, I had always heard about and been involved with 'closings' when I lived in NY state. When I relocated to SE PA in '93 the realtor we were using started talking about 'settlement' and I had no idea for a second what she meant. Just over the state line in MD where I am now the term is closing again!

Good morning to all! Low of 33, now forecasted to go up to 56 today. Cooler tomorrow, then by Sunday the high will be 23, the temps here are forecasted to drop to -8 Sunday night. That is really cold! Still no mention of how much snow expected.... but now saying 12+ inches in the mountains.

Closing or settlement... still scheduled for 1 pm today. It will be nice to have that all over with.... I am sure my son and DIL will be glad! They have had to jump through most of the hoops....

Surgery is still a go for tomorrow.... at least as far as I know.... the time has still not been revealed to me.... I hope they don't call me at 9 tonight and say that I need to be there at 5 am... I think I will start calling them this afternoon if I don't hear from them....

Final coat of the finish will go on the blanket chest this morning, then re-assembled and moved to a safe spot.

I am jealous of you guys with classic cars. It has always been a favorite past-time of mine-- to restore / work on cars. I have the knowledge and tools... just don't have the time, space, nor the wallet size needed to do it. I have finished a few Jeeps and a couple of VW bugs, but they were all on a shoestring budget for sure.
Workinonit.... you have 2 of my favorite cars.... a Chevelle and a Nova.... what more could you want?

Time to get movin'.... everyone have a great day!

Drew---
I always understood the terminology to be you went to closing and at the settlement table, title passed to new owner.

That is how we always understood it... but given that we are from Pa. and NJ, ....old habits die hard....

I actually had 2 Chevelles. Neither in great shape and a ton of work required for both. They were included in my tractor trade so I am Chevelleless now. My Nova is a 63 and in great condition. I plan to put an updated entire front sub frame with all of the goodies under it as well as a new IRS rear and a LS engine. I'm getting in the short rows with work but not ready to give up my deal yet. Just getting things in order to have toys to tinker on when I hang up my meter and O'scope.

62°F and .5 inches rain and raining.

Highlight of the day will be driving up to Honokaa for 1st COVID vaccination at our Primary Care. Guessing it will be Moderna as we already have 3/12 appointments for shot #2.
Just to sweeten the pot our cottage tenants are scheduled 15 minutes after us and my friend who bought my Case D35 is 45 minutes prior.

Nothing else planned.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

 Sure hope that forecast doesn't VT. NH. border.

Same forecast for Claremont...and you're about halfway between Bethel and Claremont....guess we'll see

A few weeks back, I made mention that lifting 5 gallons of diesel to the rear fender filler neck was difficult for me
Someone posted a suggestion as a response:
Amazon.com: TERAPUMP 3rd Gen - No More Gas Can Lifting/Fuel Transfer Pump Fitting numerous Gas Cans (Advanced Auto-Stop Function and Flexible in and Out Take Hose): Automotive

Well, finally came in yesterday, so I'll pick another 5-10 gallons of off-road diesel and give this thing a try. I'll post results (and recommendations) then

I have always heard it as 'closing'. But I've only done the one real estate deal.

Lost the body of one census taker.....Whereabouts unknown.

Closing to me. That’s what I earned in RE class in Maine and what I always used. Like Drew, settlement table.

I have an ice question. My mailbox, the regular breadbox out by the street kind, is frozen shut with a half inch of ice and 6" icicles as are all of them on my street. Does that mean there will be no mail delivered today? I could not open it to mail a letter and it is still 29˚F and we are still getting rain/frozen rain.

Should I pour hot water on it and hope the mailman does not give up and go home before he gets to my house?

EDIT
The mailman just came by. He must have some ice breaking device he is delivering mail.

Use a propane torch on it. Getting close enough to melt ice. But not close enough to damage mailbox. Pouring hot water on it will refreeze.

I started doing late model drive train swaps (restomod) in 2001 when it was kind of new, I’ve done three more since. Sure makes a sweet ride. This was my first.

Woke up today to find we have lost another Iconic Outback Pub. The Tibbooburra pub burnt down last night and the Muckadilla pub burnt a couple of weeks ago. Very sad for those folk in those towns. Pubs are a social hub out there.
Four injured as fire destroys Tibooburra'''s historic Two Storey pub in NSW outback - ABC News

Doug

Now that, .......is sad. I wouldn't be surprised with 2 pubs going down, that someone doesn't like the social gatherings and has turned into an arsonist. Tear in my beer.

Oh my, looks like you might need to mow by next Friday. LOL. Our icicles are only about 2" long as or yet.

Son is feeling fine. I woke up with a sinus headache, that went away after I got vertical for a bit.

Keeping the fire stoked.

Have Covid test tomorrow morning. Going back to work hinges on it.

"Settlement" is what happens after a lawsuit....Only used Closing here.

I'm seeing the Hamilton Ranchettes advertised on TV in Austin now.

Texas Covid vaccine provider map is not looking good Jo.

Curious what 24-track recorder you have, Paul. I used a Roland VS-1824CD machine for almost 20 years before finally acquiescing to the computer-based DAW world about a year ago.

The machine in question is a Alexis HD24XR. Essentially 3 ADAT machines that record to a hard drive rather than video tape. This machine is especially handy as it’s mounted in a rack case along with a Yamaha O1v96 mixer with additional Focusrite mic preamps, making it a mobile 24 track rig.
I do have mic preamps and interfaces to multitrack directly to “the box” and generally mix and master in the box.
I’m not sure how interested others are in recording and music, feel free to PM me.

Nursing home called this morning and said mom was fading and had stopped eating and drinking, they offered me a compassionate visit. So I headed over, got my rapid COVID test, gloves, mask, shield and gown. I stayed with her about an hour, she opened her eyes some and tried to speak once I think. She opened them more when I told her I had to leave so stayed past my allotted time.
I told her to relax and rest and when it’s time my dad and brother would come for her. I expect the call anytime.
Almost 98 years of constant motion, what a great life for a great mom.
