Sure wish the local fire unit were so supportive of their community. They'd never permit that large of a brush pile, and they sure as heck wouldn't get off their butts to come out and standby during a burn.

Regardless, I've lit a few piles that big, and learned they're a lot easier to control if you just light 'em in one place. That way you can use a hose to keep the flames down and control how fast it moves through the pile. Takes a little longer, but there's a lot less ember cast and you don't have to stand so far away from the flames.:2cents:

Yes I could latch on to them and pull them up the drive,
then I have to get behind them and try and control their speed going back down the hill that's harder then pulling them up.
A long steep driveway like mine gets people if they try it and get stuck it's not that bad.
I can pull them out and slowly let them back down. When they make it up chewing an digging then I ask them how many miles
they put on the drive wheels coming up and were are they going to find that many miles going downhill.
then throw in a switchback curve 2/3s of the way down it can get interesting
I usually plow it quite clean and then studded snows it's not a problem, anything else besides chains can be hairy.

Happy Birthday Bird. One more notch in the holster of Texas life

it's been quiet here, working on big package of will docs from lawyers, making piles of copies for both brothers.
I'll see one tomorrow morning as I go to the supermarket, as his office is in the same complex, and hand him his copies and
he will mail the others to our older brother. Keeps me out of the post office. Oldest brother in VA and his wife got their first shots today.

It was good quick clean up of snow well until several turkeys decided peck the driveway taking there sweet time.
When I came inside notice something gold color under coffee table it was one of Mrs. gold chain as I enter bedroom to put the chain back there sat kitten and the jewel scatter on bureau bed and floor oh how that kitten meow and purr knowing she been caught red handed...she is little thief and that's one of reason auto keys place in draw.

No plans for this evening recliner dinner watch for the deer fox to arrive.

I thought I read that Moderna is working on a booster shot to help the vaccine work on new variations of the virus. I wonder if we will have to keep getting shots. Of course that would be good for business.

I read that same thing somewhere, but then later I read that the extra booster would not be needed. So who knows? I don't mind taking another shot if it's needed.

...and Thomas, e-muffins are everywhere...my wife made homemade chicken salad yesterday, and put a scoop on top of a toasted e-muffing for me for lunch. Yum.

It can get interesting.
Several years ago we had one that laid down a thick layer of ice then it switched to rain so when I got home it was wet ice.
Made it almost all the way up when the Dodge Dakota with studded tires started sliding backwards got it over in the shallow ditch side and stopped.
When I got out of the truck I couldn't even walk it was so slick slid to the rear of the truck got over in the ditch and made it the rest of the way up.
Loaded up the sander that was setting on a chained up k20 backed down to the dodge sanding and a bit past it.
Drove the sander back up top walked down got in the Dodge and that little thing just walked right on up.
Have had heck a couple of times getting home to get to the plow equipment. Couple of years ago we had about 8" of snow then it rained quite a bit,
couldn't make it up so I called a brother that had his truck chained up he only got about 40 ft further and it started walking sideways so had to stop.
Called over to the farm and had my nephew bring over the PUMA 125 with chains on it, hooked onto the pickup and up the driveway we went.
The PUMA would get going good then ride up on top of the heavy snow and break thru and climb back up all the way up.
Once you get up on top it's easy to plow down, it very seldom even needs any power usually brakes even with blades down.
It can be a challenge but it has a lot of advantages.

Had to look where you were located. That makes sense now. When I lived in Vermont, you had to call for a burn permit. For a while, that person was dad, so we had quite a bit of leeway.

After he moved we used to wait till the snow was on the ground, wind was good, and then toss a match in the pile and ask for forgiveness later But that was over 20 years ago. I'm sure knickers would get severely knotted now.

Here in Arkansas, they use a common sense approach. The only time your technically not allowed to burn is if your area is under a burn ban.

Course they frown on it during a windy day.

Eastern NC may get up to four in of snow

that means the 7 inches they predict here over two full days of snowing is for real. Sunday afternoon into Monday and even Tuesday.
looks like the snowblower is going to earn its keep.

Elizabeth City is expected to get 1-3” mixed with rain. Here we have a 30% chance of light snow.
Upper 40s today but cold for the next few. Wind advisory with gusts over 40. Come on spring.

I bought an electric impact today to use in my building that doesn’t have air, if it works it’ll be cheaper than buying another air compressor to replace the old one. It should be fine since it is for the one building and isn’t going anywhere else. I have a 30v unit but I’ve never been completely satisfied. I have air in the other two so I should be OK.

Finally got my deck off the tractor so I can service it and sharpen the blades, boy they need it. I like it off in case it snows anyway.
