Good morning, the overnight temperature was down to -8°F, -1 now and going up to 7. Wind N 11 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

Since the last time I plowed we've got about an inch. Not worth firing the tractor up for that.

A dump run and town is in the cards for today, then conserve energy.

Have a safe day all

Good morning, it has been raining all night, fields again about as sloppy as it gets. Only problem with burn piles around here is finding a dry enough day to light them. :D

Yesterday I made good progress cutting out the dead stuff in the hedge. There were a couple of dead blackthorn intertwined with the hawthorn which hasn't been cut in a long long time, so was growing more like trees than hedge plants. Lots of old wives' tales about getting blood poisoning from blackthorn, though these were all thorn less after being attacked by an ugly looking fungus.

Eric, not sure I understand that footnote on the graph...does it mean that if someone died of anything they are counted, since they had a positive test as much as 4 weeks previously?
Wng, you got my wife wondering why I am reading the British Medical Association guidance notes on completing death certificates. It seems doctors only write down Covid-19 if they believe that is the underlying cause of death. The definition of "underlying cause" in this context is "the disease or injury which initiated the train of morbid events leading directly to death". In the early stages of the pandemic doctors could only go on symptoms, now almost all fatal cases have the additional evidence of a recent positive test to substantiate that diagnosis.

That's enough doom and gloom from me for today, does anyone else look back with nostalgia to those pre-covid times, when this thread's no 1 topic was DPF regen cycles ? :)

Funny mice Don.

Poured first cup of coffee. 16° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 22° with am sun and pm clouds. Did a full conserve energy day yesterday. My aunt is coming over while my cousin goes a on a trip for a few day. Will do some grocery shopping with her this morning. Then enjoy her company.
Moon was bright yesterday evening.

Roy, if it will help forecast missed low temperature here by over 10°. Got clouds that held temperature up.

Buckeye, may be a good time to switch to paperless billing.

Rick, fire did not last long.

Eric, fungus among us. :D

Kyle, my son is doing much better. Been back to work for almost 2 months. Still has no feeling in hands and feet at times. Happening less often as time goes. Off all meds.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Morning all! 24f here going down all day to a forecast of low single digits.
Happy Birthday Bird!
Need to clean up the end of the driveway and around the mailbox. Might hang a few pictures in the renovated bedroom. Maybe play with some string.
No mail yesterday! When did 4 or 5 inches of powder snow shut down the post office? We also have a bunch of overdue missing bills! Good thing my wife keeps track of the dates. I have the app on my phone for each so I can see the balance at any time. We called and paid over the phone to escape the late fees.
Stay safe and healthy everyone.

30 outside, with a nice howling wind. High mid-30's today. No precipitation. Looks to be just south of us. May go out today and see if I can get some groceries.

Other than that....nothing planned.

Hope all have a good day today, be careful in the snow, and stay healthy my friends.

31 and snow is ending after less than half an inch...going up to 38 and super windy.

Ron, I was also thinking of paperless with all the postal delays. Most of my things are paperless, but there are a few I really like to get on paper and save as tax records for a couple of years (instead of printing them myself). I recently received a document mailed in April. My wife received bills for handling her mom's affairs that were a month late. We're moving them over to paperless.

Rick, sounds like you had a very busy and productive day. I always sleep better after one.

Roasted coffee then fired up the splitter after 8 pulls yesterday, and got a load split and stacked. Don't plan to go back for more firewood with today's wind, so will find something else...guess I don't have an excuse for not starting taxes today.

Happy Birthday Mr. Bird...hope it's a special day.

I think our sub-zero temps are a tad late this winter. Usually we get about two weeks of well below zero every January and that usually comes after the January thaw, which so far hasn't happened. February can get a little nippy, too.

Thanks to all for the Birthday Wishes. And now a little update.

This second vaccine shot has sure been different. The shot itself was only a little pin prick with the needle, so I thought it was even less than the first shot. We got the shots just before 10 a.m. yesterday and the nurse did put a bandaid on there this time. Later in the day, a cousin asked me how it felt, and I told him it was almost nothing. So a little over 8 hours after the shot, I pulled the bandaid off; not a trace of blood on it, no pain from the shot, etc. So I went to bed early, and awoke after about 3 hours, went to the bathroom, and also found that my arm was incredibly sore. No sign of blood, bruises, swelling, etc.; nothing but most of that upper arm is so sore that I sure did not sleep much the rest of the night. I finally got up before 3 a.m. and went to my recliner in the living room. I think it is finally easing up a bit, and it doesn't hurt as long as it's still; not moving and not being touched by anything.

Margaret hasn't gotten up yet this morning, so I can't say for sure, but from the way she was flopping around in the bed, I'm guessing she's having the same problem

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 4:15AM. Cloudy with periods of rain. High near 50F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
0.61" of rain yesterday, 0.32" so far this morning. Maybe another 0.75 today and tonight, pretty much constant rain. Won't see the sun again until Saturday, then more rain until next Wednesday when things begin to dry out again.

Used the last of the firewood in the garage yesterday, but I think I can delay swapping out the pallet until a break in the weather on Saturday.

Spent all day on the PG&E claim yesterday, now need to figure out how to get an estimate on restoring all the burned oak and manzanita. The trust has set up free legal advise, so I'll look into that today, too.

Soaked a big bag of kidney beans overnight, and am planning on red beans and rice for dinner, with LOTS of left overs.:licking:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Been good couple years no back to back sub below zero but instead temps been tad above normal and I'm not complaining.
February can be nasty weather month for us but least the day light getting longer. :)
