Good morning all

32 now high around 40 with some sun early and showers later this afternoon. We got a little more than an inch of rain the other day, every little bit helps.

Got some sad news yesterday, BIL passed Monday morning after a stroke. I’m going to miss him dearly we were close.

No plans for today just putter around may take the loader off and put the plow on just in case!

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

Sorry about your BIL.

My Dad was the most proficient squirrel hunter I ever knew. When I was old enough to get my first .22 rifle, we'd walk on opposite sides of the creek and he'd find and shoot 6 squirrels to my 1 every time. And yep, we ate every squirrel we could find. Did you skin them out right over the head, too? When the head skinned and thoroughly washed and fried, the tongue and cheeks were good eating, and the brains were good eating.

Dad had nails on the side of the barn where he would skin the squirrels. Yep, taste like chicken, had my fill of them.

My training session at work went well.

Demos we were rushing to get ready for next week got postponed till January, so that works out.

New geo flow center came, got it down to basement but not installed. New wiring configuration, plastic box instead of metal.

Drained more water from old water heater, then got it moved outside. Going to crush with grapple.

Made quick Costco run after work since I needed gas. Still $1.89, most other stations $2.23.

Don, looks like washing brush.

Productive day in the shop, got the next set of planks all glued up. Tomorrow, I should be able to start planing them and get them cut to size. Depends on how warm I can get the shop, tonight's low is forecasted to be a cold 7 degrees.... the next town over ( about 12 miles as the crow flies ) is forecasted for -1 degrees.....

Drew, I am wondering what you are using for a heater in the garage.... 30lb propane should last a while. I use one of the tank top "Mr Heater" burner type on a 20 pounder. I get about 20 hours of burn time on high....
And also curious as to why there were 2 electric meters in the pic of your generator plug.....

Ended up with about 3" of snow total, the sun came out this afternoon and melted it down to about an inch. All is good... didn't have to shovel anything. I'm glad that I didn't go into town.... they had to shut down the freeway (I-40) up here in the mountains because of 15 semi-truck accidents, a couple of which spilled all their contents onto the roadway. That created a 10 mile long traffic jam....

Pellet stove is keeping us toasty warm.... outside temp is currently 15....

Started fire in the insert, not much else till bike ride, and nap. Took wife to town for dinner. Tomorrow's forecast is for windier and cooler, may just feed the insert..

30 right now...high about 40 today. There's a quarter inch of snow on the ground this morning...that'll melt off pretty quick today. The weekend (Saturday) prediction is now a bit over 3" (up from 2.5")
Since the local tire dealer can't find a replacement tire for the one that blew out, I'm getting 4 snow tires this afternoon. Always used all-season tires...never had snow tires...

No Roy, I've never had snow tires either :) I guess they would be noisy things?

Got word we are having some family for Christmas. Never dawned on me it was that close.
Lesley is out watering the garden every day for hours. No rain likely even though promised. It just doesn't happen. Storms seem to all go around us. Must need a better deodorant. :)
Got a new camera coming for Les as she can't get close enough with the iphones for decent pics. She likes taking pics of the wild parrots and wallabies that come for a feed every day.
Got a Tawny Frogmouth nesting in the tree beside the house. Lovely creatures.

Doug

I remember running studded snow tires when I lived in Maine. Don’t miss them. Or the icy roads.

NHBX, I'm sorry for the loss of your BIL.
31 here going to 40. Partly sunny day ahead.
Not sure what I will be doing today. Feels like a putter around day.
Helped the neighbor remove two trees and stumps from his yard. In the winter they droop out into the driveway. He has no cab so would get hit in the head with the branches. Need to change his tractor over to snow blower soon and he would like a better light mounted so he can see at night while blowing. Sounds like a project for next week.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

NHBX, sorry to hear of your loss.

Forecast is for rain all day and looking out the window, I see no reason to doubt that. At least we managed to go most of yesterday without a drop. With no grandsons able to come for little felling adventures this winter, I took the easy option yesterday of using a chainsaw to cut down a Nordman fir . We don't normally bring a Christmas tree inside so early in the month, however a bit of early cheer is needed this year and anyway, there will not be any visitors coming to notice if it starts to drop needles before the 12th night. The trees have grown well, so I spread the cheer a little wider by ringing around a few neighbours to see if they would like one too.
