Good evening all. 40F for the start clear, light breeze. Windy day today from south, just some high cirrus in sky and high temp was 70F. Bike ride first thing, 63 miles, had more stops, took 6 hrs to get 4.5 hrs moving time. Lunch nap finished the day. During ride one of the guy mentioned he bought used GPS, mentioned I might be interested in so he brought it over tonight, started setting it up, will try it out tomorrow.

Don’t know about this blue moon thing, I think we got a pumpkin moon. Happy Halloween
IMG_2045.JPG

Sorry about you trip RNG, but sounds like alternative is working for you.

Kyle, that’s going to be an interesting project to follow. Hope your kids are doing better.

Drew, you seem to be settling in quite well. How long do you think you’ll stay the rental?

Day late for cat day, but Simba visiting the cottage,

Nice guitars, Paul, wish I with a little bit talented.

Ted, surely we get a pic of the finished lounger?

Bird, be careful, falls aren’t the the more mature of us.

Eric, shouldn’t you fashion a passage for those fish to navigate between ponds?

Kinda surprised none of the new wx stations followed Don’s lead. Don what does company say about the rain data?

Rip, your porch is looking good, but take it easy.

Roy, we gonna see action pics soon?

Rswyan, rescued tree rat? 🤙

Mostly, your milage is inspirational.

I know I’ve missed some...

Quite the day, but fell short of goals. Oh well, another day.
Did get my knee wall framed and in place, just no T111. Had anticipated bolting frame to container, but nooooo. Had to fabricate some metal brackets to attach. Will be more than sufficient but way more time consuming than drilling 7 holes for bolts. Of course just as I was putting frame in place the property superintendent appeared with own suggestions. As I’m sure most here know, those suggestions cannot be simply dismissed with a “no”.

Day is done, sitting back enjoying a nice local porter freshly drawn from keg. Life is good.

Forgot to add. at 1020 this morning it was 80° and I was working on the sunny side. Yea, I know, no sympathy

thought I had slept in, but DST put me right back at 4am...have a few clocks to change.
warmer weather today, but more rain coming in this afternoon which we don't need. Then a drying out period for next week
with warmer temps, glad for that.

friends coming over this afternoon to help me lay down area rugs, means moving furniture which my back won't be happy about so
I asked for help. Also going to put up weather station, one friend bringing short ladder so we can mount on garage roof using a pole mount.

realtor keeps sending me info on homes in the one community I can afford here. No garage, 169k. Garage, 295k. For a single car garage, seems nuts.
Only challenge is I would not own the land, some kind of land lease arrangement with 500 monthly HOA/land rent. Which means no conventional mortgages and a 5.75%
financing plan instead of half that. I really don't want to make any decisions for another 6-12 months until I get more clear PET scans under my belt.
650 homes are close together, 55+ community, but all spotlessly maintained and nice. If I stay healthy, back operation successful, etc, think I might rather have more land.
Unfortunately as I've whined before, everything is hugely expensive here. I kind of like being debt free...

I was going to go out and look at the moon but cloud cover is almost 100 percent in front of rain front coming in.

Morning all! 32 going to a cloudy high 40's.
Oak leaves all came down with the storm and are so thick that you can't see ground anywhere. Going to be to cold for the snow to melt before thursday, friday. Will just have to suffer looking at it! I hate leaves on my lawn!
Have a few inside projects to work on if I get ambitious today.
Current weather conditions have my hand, knee and shoulder complaining about movement. Hopefully will improve with warmer temps coming.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy. Prayers for your son's neck issue Ron and anyone else with troubles.

Eric, shouldn't you fashion a passage for those fish to navigate between ponds?
Interesting thought. I'm having lots of fun catching buckets of small fish at the top of the hill. Not as much container experience as you, so doubt I could contain myself with the added pleasure of playing with a 1000' siphon at the same time :)

Ron, hope the docs will soon diagnose and treat what has gone wrong for your son.

Good morning. The sun is on a loosing battle this morning, it manages to shine a few rays of promise, only to be squeezed out by ever wetter clouds.

Covid infection rate has been increasing far faster than the official medical statistician's expected in England. We are all going into a 4 week lockdown again from Thursday, pubs and restaurants must close, with only essential shops being allowed to stay open.

Maybe I missed it, Eric: Did you finish the concrete water works you had going?
You missed nothing. Like toilet paper, dry weather turned out to be in serious short supply this summer, the few days we had got used up on other more pressing jobs, I am still sluiceless . The ground around the wetland has been far too soft since to contemplate bringing in concrete with my little tractor. At least the temporary crash barrier is holding at the moment, not quite what I intended, but hopefully good enough for a few wading birds and ducks to use for a short vacation.
This is like your u-joint, one of those jobs that will get done one day, just not sure when.

31 right now...high in the upper 40's and rain later today...

No Trick or Treaters last night. In fact, we haven't had trick or treaters visit since we moved to Vermont. I watched an old (late 1950's, I think) Italian horror movie "Black Sunday" last night (in celebration of Halloween)

November already. 43 going to 58 and rain.

Eric, At first look, I thought I saw a duck blind in that pond. Pretty place.

Phil, hope you get to feeling better.

Fired up the wood stove yesterday...sure feels good with that kind of warmth. Coco immediately took up guard position at the front of the stove, belly facing it, of course.

Mostly, that's a long time to be on a bike...nice ride!

Used the zero turn to blow leaves off the driveway, which doubles as a bird feeding area for ground birds. Couldn't run it on most of the lawn because it's still too soggy. Then climbed a tree with my bow. Had several red-breasted nuthatches come in close to me...I really like to watch them. More squirrels than usual...all heading to bed toward the same ancient tree that has 5 big holes, all on one side, stacked up about 5 feet apart. Two owls calling on either side of me gave Halloween evening quite the mood.

33F clear sky upper40's for high rain arriving late afternoon during the night.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Plans for today mostly blow leaves but at slower pace.

Enjoy the day all.

   / Good morning!!!! #121,191
With a combination of raking, blowing and mowing with the bagger I got the leaves up. By 4pm I was ready to sit down. I sure can't do what I used to be able to do. Of course there are still a lot of leaves up in the trees so I'll get more chances to practice. Not the nicest day. Kind of gray and cold. We may get rain today.

Hope you all are taking care.

Chris

Poured first cup of coffee. 43° with rain this morning. Heading to near freezing by evening with winds 30mph. Yesterday was a conserve energy day. Low over night temperature made leaves fall like is was snowing gold leaves. Attached is the best picture I took of it. Have 2 more clocks and all smoke/CO detectors to change batteries in today. Also need to do car clock. :confused2:
Son is home from hospital. Needs to see a specialist this week to go over all the test done. Still no feeling. Thanks for the prayers.

RS, never had a squirrel in my pond. Hope it recovers.

Eric, nice picture with lots of well fed sheep.

Drew, hope the carpet install goes well.

Roy, no Trick or treaters here either. 48 years now.

David, yup in evening moon was pumpkin colored here also.

Mostly, good ride. Facebook has some weird rules. Without proper double check to see if they are really right.

Buckeye, nice moon picture.

LS, nice repair.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

Good morning! 44˚F heading to the 70s. My animals do not do time changes and were up early requesting breakfast.

   / Good morning!!!! #121,194
Good morning. It's 48° and calm here .. we'll see 77° and sunny this afternoon.

Last evening's "blue moon" was impressive but .. not even close to blue.

I'm not a fan of time change .. pick one and stick with it. I get up .. when I wake up .. since retiring.

In advance of blade sharpening / replacement .. on our Kubota ZT, I spent most of last two days cutting around and under trees in pasture closest to the house, where I could get to with tractor / cutter.

I also cleaned the ash out of our stone fire pit at the house and the chimenea on the east patio. That was a full bucket on the 55 HP tractor. I also cleaned the ash out of the fire pit down at the shop.

Today .. is maintenance day and with our dry weather .. all air filters will get blown out .. for sure. The ZT needs a complete cleanup and blades sharpened / replaced.

Then maybe .. some window washing this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 4:37AM. Sunny. High 83F. Winds light and variable.
Welcome to November. Doesn't seem like November looking out the window at the weather, though. Not that I'm complaining, as it's as close to perfect as it's likely to get.

All that rain has paid off in an incredibly green pasture for those sheep, Eric. Hope your improvised sluice makes it through 'till next summer when you'll get another shot at building a real one.

Lots of bare branches showing in today's photo, Ron. Another reason they call it "Fall".

The sun is still hot enough to want to stay out of it here, too, David. But by sunset, it's low enough it feels nice to sit out in it. Sorry the framing is taking longer than planned, but things have a way of setting their own pace sometimes. BTW, what's "T111"?

I still get mailings from the Ohio realtor that sold my mom's place three years ago, Drew. Almost as bad as J.C. Whitney catalogs, which never seem to stop coming. Makes sense to take it slow for a while in deciding next steps, at your own pace for a change. I'll add to Kyle's warning about Ozone. Bought a demo 4Runner years ago that someone had smoked in. Really stunk it up. Dealer said they used an ozone machine in it to get rid of the smell, and was reluctant to use it again because it would damage the upholstery. Nasty stuff.

Sounds like a nice sit in the tree stand, Bill. Any of those nuthatches try to land on you?

Lots of rust and cob webs, Kyle. Some would call it "patina", but it looks more like work to me...

Gonna try to make a pet outa that squirrel, RS?

Be nice to see the other side of the lounger, Ted...

Sir Connery was the best 007, and he was great as Indy's dad, too...

A few weeks ago I mounted two battery chargers to the wall above a set of shelves, than parked a pair of batteries below them and hooked them up. Yesterday I found I'd also left the 6V battery from the Trail 90 on that shelf, but no charger. The outfit I'd ordered three chargers from finally got around to sending the last one, so it went on the wall with the other two, and I made up a charging lead for the Honda's battery. It has two wire leads as terminals, so I soldered an alligator clip to the ground lead of the charger, and crimped a bullet connector to the other. All nice and neat, and no more worries about flat batteries.

The rest of the day was spent wrestling with throttle cables on the white bike. Turns out that the upgraded carbs are about 3/8" (9mm) taller than the originals, and that meant trimming an equal amount off the cable housings. Delicate work to cut the close fitting housing without nicking the wire cable inside. And taking only enough off to get the travel needed. Had to do that to four cables in all, and like David's knee wall, it took a lot longer than I'd have guessed. Was also hoping to finish the plug for the cam hole yesterday, but wasn't able to get to that at all. So that's on today's agenda, as is shooting a test panel for the sample of pearl white paint the shop mixed for me some months ago. Time to find out how close it matches.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
