63 going to 86 and sunny.

Rip, awesome storm photo...I think we were seeing the southern end of that row of storm cells and it looked similar except darker. Glad we only got the edge of the storm since they were saying 2 inch hail was in the center.

Mostly, nice bass...I bet quite the fight on a flyrod.

Eric, we installed our geothermal in 1998, and the tops of the 3 trenches still have a strange mix of weeds and wildflowers not elsewhere in our field. I work on them every few years to fill in any low spots, and bush hog the entire field at least once per year.

My wife cut my hair for the first time ever...a tougher job since it hadn't been cut since February 19. Then I shaved the remainder of my corona beard/stache so look like my former self, except with a couple of extra covid pounds. She didi a great job...always cut her dads hair.

Pinch me...is baseball season really only a month away? My 3 fantasy baseball teams are all ready to take the field. It's interesting to see what people name their teams...one guy in one league named his team "Can'tWeAllJustLoot?" Another guy must live over in Toppop's area - Delmarva Dark Horses.

Back to the dermatology vet today. Got test results back and not good news.

Weatherman showed a future-radar-style map to show the Sahara dust moving in...added that it will boost air to unhealthy levels for people with respiratory issues. Heard another guy yesterday wonder why such a fuss is being made about this since it happens about twice a year regularly, and as was said, most of the hurricanes we get originate off the west coast of Africa. It is pretty cool thinking we are getting "soil" from another continent, not unlike how volcanic dust travels the globe.

Picked our first pepper, but the lettuce, radishes, and spinach are over. Can see first squash and tomatoes on the vines.

Drinking coffee from Flores today...one called Wolo Wio.

I have a total new found respect for a good jar of Classico Mushroom and ripe olive sauce for about $2.50.
I totally agree Kyle. Classico is my go to brand, try to buy it on sale, and I start making sauce using my own tomatoes by dumping a jar of the ready made in there.
I like tomato sauce with some bite to it, and anything too sweet is a turnoff, but a container of mushrooms always goes in the mix. Plus some sauteed onions
and green peppers. Usually some sausage or meatballs go in after the sauce has cooked down.

am reminded of the famous Sopranos scene where they are making a red sauce. Little bit of this, little bit of that...

went online and got my absentee ballot request form. Never done this before, easy process, they don't even ask why you are requesting it though they are pretty detailed if you are getting help completing it, like in a place where I am now. No, I can do this myself... Not sure where I'll be this Fall, so figure I'd better do this now while I have a legal address locally. Need to go bum a mailing envelope from business mgr here, since I brought her chocolate donuts yesterday, think that will be easy...
Asked for ballot to be sent by email so no matter where I am will get it.

I consider voting super important, though usually only vote in national elections since hard to find out info on locals. Was spoiled in PA where League of Women Voters used to complete a great educational pamphlet on the candidates, even the ones running for local elections, showed education, job history, nothing like that here. I would study that carefully, circle my choices, and take pamphlet in to voting booth.
Have always tried avoiding just pulling the party lever, if I don't know who I'm voting for, usually abstain.

My mother once ran for office, she had her arm bent, local lady attorney was an attractive choice. She lost badly but a great memory came out of it.
Big party at our farm, governor of PA came in by helicopter and landed in our front field, now that was cool. But the funniest part was our family dog got into the kitchen where there were two big pans of baked chicken made for the crowd up on counter, smell must have been irresistible, and 100 pound dog dumped them both on the floor and chowed down. What a cleanup that was, surprised dog didn't get hurt by chicken bones. No one seemed to be the wiser and party went on.
No kibbles for dog that night, bad dog...of course to him, this was just a Las Vegas buffet made just for him.;)

59 right now...high about 80 today...

Vacation day for me, but I have a customer webinar in a couple hours...after that, got one limb to drop. Grass could use mowing, but it's awful brown (not as bad as earlier this week) so might let it go until next week. However, the forecast is for rain most of next week. If I do mow, the deck will be set high.
I need to pick up a rifle at my local gun shop. I probably wrote this before, but as a reminder, it's a Ruger American bolt action in .300 Blackout.
Other chores, if time permits, is some weed trimming...haircut, if the barber shop is open...and what ever else I think of.
Stepdaughter bought a kayak, so we went to pick it up yesterday. Not bad...some kind of plastic but seems well made. It's tied down in the truck bed. She and a friend are going kayaking this afternoon...hope it goes well. BTW, she did order a roof carrier...won't be delivered until next week though.
That's about it...

First cup of coffee is cooling. 50ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85ー with late afternoon thunderstorms. Got barn door project started. Cut metal backing for hinges. Will not get anymore done today. Shopping this morning with Aunt. Then help neighbor build new ladder/stairs for Play set. Until storms move in.
Hummingbirds are being more cooperative with in flight pictures.

Drew, Classico was my wife's favorite sauce to start a meal. Mushrooms, Italian sausage, ground beef, garlic and a few more items. She wrote it down for me when she could not cook anymore. Check if software is up to date on your iPhone. I think this happens to my phone at times. Has to do with amount of people using network at time goes thru. I have phone set to send all calls that are not in my contact list to voicemail. This setting is under Settings and Phone.

Riptide, great picture.

Wngsprd, haircut? I have been trimming my hair since February. Hair is almost to my shoulders in back. Going to see if I can get it cut next week.

Mostly, nice fish.

Buckeye, nice sunset. We are on the edge of the Sahara Dust. Will most likely get rained out. But I have camera ready just in case.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Ron, interesting, phone said software update needed, did that, will see if does anything helpful.
Need to get another phone to call it so I can test settings.
waiting for breakfast, then off to walk my laps.

thomas, that bear would scare me to death, full grown black bear?

Good morning.
Our oldest cat was sick last night, threw up on basement couch. Wife found him this morning behind stuff in the basement, not doing well and stuff on his backside. She’s taking him to vet as soon as they open.
Kids favorite cat that my oldest spoils.

Thomas leaving his stuffed animal laying around.

/ Good morning!!!! #114,412
Mostly, nice fish greets me on login. LOL.
WngSprd - Thinking of you, and hope you get healed up fast.
Thomas, keep the bear. OMG, sure is "pretty".

So that nice pic posted last evening was a real experience. There was a very visible rain shaft moving right towards me. Problem was...I could see it moving. I looked up, directly above me, and WOW. It was like God was really mixing some pasta! The clouds were coming DOWN at a very rapid pace. Then the winds hit. Mesmerized as I was, I knew I was about to get really wet, so I beat feet and retreated back to the farm house. Then...well....ka boom. The storm hit. About ten minutes later it was over.

I spend the rest of the evening chain sawing another silver maple "branch" that just missed the farm house, but blocked the driveway. More work to be done this AM, as I just rolled the cut logs out of the way, cleaned up the branch debris, but ran out of light.

The tree guys estimate came in, but wouldn't you know it...THAT tree was suppose to be OK. Yeah...we are looking at about 10k for all the work that needs to be done. The trees are just too dangerous with these storms and I am too old to be running around with a chain saw at night. LOL.

On the A/C front, Kyle, we are back up and running. New circuit board. Revision 9, we had rev 2. Hmmmmmm....... sensors were flaky...really? LOL. When the A/C goes out, we have 4 units on the property, so there is always a room we can retreat to. Our weather though gets hazy, hot and humid fast. That night it was 70 percent humidity and 85 degrees in the bedrooms. LOL. Too hot for no action. ROTFL.

Hey, have a good day all... be safe.

Down to 62 early but headed to 89 later. Woke early to nature’s call, so I got ready and started clothes, cleaned cat box and cooked breakfast. Wife was surprised but happy.
Now that the tractor is home I need to move some brush and rotten logs, that is if I get my housework done!

Good Morning!!!! 80F @ 4:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. Hot. High 107F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the week, with cooler weather coming in for the weekend. But by cooler, they mean it'll only be in the low 100s.

Does that bear hand you the next tool when you need it, Thomas? Not sure how comfortable I'd feel with that kind of help so close.

Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday, Drew, and maybe have a few less things on your mind as a result? I have the same phone as you, and even though I keep the OS updated, notice the same behavior. I tell people the only reason I have a phone is so I can talk to people when I want to, so leave a message and I'll call you back. That's what the fancy answering services are for. I do have it set up, using Google Voice, so I get a transcription of their message emailed to me. That way I don't have to keep calling in to check for new voicemails. A lot of precincts are offering vote by mail for the first time this year, trying to keep the spread of CV19 down from in person voting. The big concern seems to be voter fraud. I've been voting by mail for a long time, and in the beginning had to submit a signature that is kept on file and supposedly is used to check any ballot I submit. I wonder if it's the same everywhere. I didn't find your Columbus post offensive; I was born in Columbus, Ohio, and I read recently that the city fathers are getting pressure to change the name. Now that I find offensive. If you're blaming your troubles on something that happened over 200 years ago, you should instead be looking in the mirror for a solution.:2cents:

I don't think the Sahara dust will make it this far west, but it does sound like the coverage it's getting is more weather sensationalizing. More "if it bleeds, it leads"; there are enough things going on in the world that need our attention more than a dust cloud.

Sorry to hear Coco's bad news, Billy. Hopefully there's still something the vet can do to help her?

The installation manual for the A/C I got yesterday mentions a hard starter kit, Kyle, so I'm going to make some calls today and see if I can get one. Only problem is the furnace is 13 years old. The capacitor I'm replacing today is on the compressor, and it's actually two capacitors. The big one, at 60 uF, is for the compressor, and a smaller one for the fan on the compressor. I looked up the one on the blower in the attic, and it's only 10 uF. But I think the hard start kit is the real solution and am not expecting much help from the new cap. I'd love to have a garden full of fresh greens and tomatoes, but judging by all the complaining the neighbors do, the deer would eat everything down to the dirt before I got a chance at it. So it's canned tomato puree and paste for my sauce, but everything else is fresh going into it. And it cooks at least 8 hours, and half of it is home made meatballs.:licking: It's based on my mom's recipe, one she got from the Italian lady that lived next door while I was growing up. These days, I use a LOT more garlic, less oregano, and salt substitute, but the whole house still smells wonderful while it's cooking.

Glad you got your tractor back, and some rain, Randy. Good timing all the way around on that one...

We always want what we can't have, Fuddy, especially when it's the gummint doing the telling. Land of the free, home of the brave, and all that.:welcome: to the GM thread!

I was told the doctor will only talk to me if I make an appointment. That's the only way the insurance company will pay him, David.

Glad you found the leak, Don, and that it was a simple fix. Sorry about the wasps (they're everywhere), and hope the tank replacement is as easy.

You going to flat face connectors, too, Rick?

Nasty looking sky, Mike. Glad you weren't under it.

Never got to the spraying yesterday, never dropped below 80F, either, and I wasn't in any hurry to go out in it. Did some shopping online, and stumbled across one of these, and ordered it. The guy I bought my mill from had one, and it made the move a lot easier. I tried to find one to buy at the time but couldn't, so I tried to make one, but the bar I had was too short and I didn't put the axle for the wheel in the right spot. Now I'll be prepared for "the next time".:)

Not much new in town yesterday, but I did drop by a surplus store looking for used steel office cabinets. They had a monster 4' wide industrial cabinet I'd love to have, but right now I don't have the room for it. Always love cruising the isles in places like that; never know what you'll find.

While I was over there, I swung by the steel yard to pick up material for the auger down force attachment. Struck gold with a pair of triangular shaped drops from one of their automated plasma cutting operations. They were the right size and had generous radii at each corner; I couldn't have found better pieces if I'd have paid to have them cut that way. My lucky streak stretched all the way to Costco where a bottle of single barrel Four Roses jumped into my cart. Should have bought a lottery ticket, too, but I only just now thought of that.

Several emails back and forth on how the controller for the solar power system is programmed yesterday. Not sure the owner of the company quite understands my priorities yet, but he's getting there. Doesn't seem too inclined to provide any guidance to help me understand how he's making the changes, though, and that's a little disturbing. Some folks aren't good teachers, and most likely he doesn't have the time, anyway. I'll get that cap replaced this morning, but I think the rest of the day will be spent inside, poking around with the diagnostic software and user forums to see if I can figure it out for myself.

I disagree, the dust cloud is the most important all the rest is just junk. The brilliant reflections of the dust is like the "Good Morning" thread - something special yet different every sunrise and sunset.

Good morning! 70s to high 80s with partly cloudy skies, chance of rain.
Drew I have the same phone Older apple SE and also a few calls slip into voice mail because the ringer does not sound. I blame it on the reception in the area, I have AT&T.

I found a video and the gas tank on the Stihl came off easy, just remove the pull cord housing. Youtube help videos are excellent. Parts ordered.

Lawn day today. Picked 6 more tomatoes from the garden yesterday. The plants look very healthy, over 5' tall but not too many tomatoes. ??

Okra is taking off and the potatoes are still putting on new leaves. That has me a little concerned because it's too late in the season for new potato leaf growth. I'll harvest them within the next two weeks to see if there are any potatoes under all that vegetation.

Good morning. It's 74° this morning with scattered rain. Our radar shows more rain coming so .. our high will probably barely make it to 80° this afternoon .. and I'm okay with that.

I'll likely move the New Holland into the shop, this morning, to complete the 3rd function QD change out on the FEL completed. I received the last fittings I needed Wednesday .. two days earlier than expected. I'll post pics later.

More patio cleaning between rain storms too.

Sounds like NASCAR will decree that crews will have to now stand on ladders .. to pull down the overhead doors in the track garages? .

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Prayers for all.
