Good morning!!!!

76 years ago at daybreak, my 19 year old dad jumped off a shot up wooden LCM, into water over his head, wearing 70 lbs of gear. He had a tall buddy help him to shallow water, where all they had to worry about was withering **** fire, stepping over the body parts and hoping his next step wasn’t on a land mine.
Eleven months later the Nazis surrendered because the greatest fighting force in history had just totally kicked their butts across Europe. Farm boys like dad, rich people, movie stars, formed into the most feared Army/Navy and USMC and saved the world.
THEY WERE 19 YEAR OLD KIDS, think about that as you go about your day.

Makes the issues of today’s youth rather shallow.
The guy that checked me out at Lowe’s today only has one leg, ex military. Have seen him before, but I don’t ask. I just thank him.

"Thomas, neat story about peanuts reaction to the Mrs. Do the foxes interact with her?"

Only thing fox real cares about treats and tennis ball full of catnip.

Thank you very much for sharing Randy.

8 years ago when I joined here the scene was eerily similar. Sitting in a big chair in hospital, in this case my being with my wife who took a long time to die from cancer, time we used to best advantage, went on cruises, etc. Last two years was 200 days in hospital and I was in the chair every day all day. I wouldn't go through that for myself, having surgeons chop me up, but my wife wanted as much time with her Mom as she could. So we went down that long road together and admittedly I came out of it worse for the wear.

So now I look back over my online "tractor buddies" and am grateful for the friendships I have made. As we get older, we all fall apart as do our parents. We get by strengthened by friendship and mutual respect.
Thank you all for years of friendship and making my life better.

Lowe’s was packed, no counting or restrictions on number of people. Picked up ceiling paint with primer. Never tried that before.
Went to get in a line, someone said excuse me, turned and there was a line of people down the aisle standing on their 6 ft markers. So said sorry, went to next checkout and there was no line, just person being checked out.

Then went to Costco for gas, then decided to go in. Had everything but TP. Guy said they had it yesterday. It was packed in Costco. I wore my N95. Got a few extra stuff.

Ordered my regular chicken cheesesteak from an Italian place. Picked it up they had 2 regular cheesesteaks under my name, and a regular cheesesteak under Julie. They would have made me a chicken, but I took Julies regular. It was very good, I think they grilled it with some old bay seasoning. Nice mix up. Also had some different type of macaroni salad from Costco that looked good, and was.

Sleepy, went to bed at 11, heard clock strike 2am. Couldn’t get to sleep again.

Wife’s sister decided to go to the beach, so she won’t have to deal with that.

My plumbing Neighbor’s 50 yo worker (his relative ) passed away last week. Was scheduled for surgery, that had been postponed due to Covid. They found out he was on blood thinner and postponed again for a week. He had a stroke and passed away a day later. 50..
you never know.

Done with the drywall project. Not happy with it, but not going to redo it. Looked good during sanding phase, but once paint was on it, it shows every little and big imperfections. It’s finished, it’s painted.
My son was talking to my wife and spilled the beans , so no surprise.
My wife is Jim Reeves fan

spent the last hour making up an initial whole foods/amazon food order, figuring out what they had. All is twice what I'm used to paying but hey this is delivered food and whole foods has higher standards. Never been close to Whole Foods before. Assisted living place right downtown in middle of things near hospital, not the least bit scenic but hopefully I'm only here for 2-3 months. I can't eat fruit or any raw vegetables, but I'm sure going to cook up a bunch of veggies. Then ordered a small .9 Toshiba microwave, which will cook veggies just fine. Dreaming of first bowl of lima beans covered in butter, salt and pepper. Sounds like ambrosia compared to crap I'm eating now. Curious to see how much weight I've lost.

Tomorrow is another no PT day, and Im going to take a container of antiseptic wipes and wipe down all touchpoints in this room. Their cleaning lady is pathetic, ditzs around and does nothing. Lot of folks in and out of this room, trying to be extra careful. I've been swabbed three times for Covid but still feel like I'm surrounded by germs here.

It has been my pleasure Drew. I would ascertain to say that we all consider you a friend. You keep up your motivations to get well. I pray you have much more to give to this world.

Randy, I was busy this morning, but I wanted to say that the greatest generation, like your dad, has my utmost respect and love. There aren't enough words to say to give them the kudos they deserve, and I certainly can't say enough for how I feel about them. But they brought us the freedom's we enjoy today. There aren't very many left sadly. D Day was 76 years ago. I love WWII history. I've been reading up on The Battle of Britain with all the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots' gallantry. Churchill had a heck of a time, and many Americans did not want to go to war to help.

Drew, I am glad that I joined and met you here.... even though in our previous hometown, we probably crossed paths on multiple occasions without even knowing it! A small world for sure. You will overcome this as you have overcome other diversities in life. You are sounding better already and more like your old self! Keep the faith my friend.

Drew, that long already? Where has the time gone? I remember being inspired by you. Your GM family may not be there in person, but know without a doubt we hold you close to us and pray for an awesome recovery.

I was thinking just the other day (as I was nursing my pulled back) what a hearty group here on GM. A few more moments thought and I was thinking of all the struggles shared over the years as well as the joys. Maybe not so hearty as persevering with an attitude to keep going on no matter what. We eagerly await the planning of your next adventure.

Drew, I remember when you took your wife camping to Lake in Wood. I’ve always wanted to go there but never made it yet.

Only got about 4 rounds on the flail.
As I was coming into a turn point I noticed and commented to self about the wet grass, not recalling that it had been that wet. Looked back as I completed turn only to find flail covered in oil. Looked under tractor and hydro fluid is spewing like a garden sprayer. Naturally, I’m at far point from tractorshed but decide to head there. Got maybe 50 ft and lost steering etal, tractor coasting downslope into the fence. Trudged up to the house, got wife, chain, and Ridgeline. At least needed to get tractor where I could get under it.
Chained Ridgeline to flail and attempted to pull. Only minor gains before I’d lose traction. Headed upslope of course. Got it clear of fence when John came down and offered his assistance. Trick was to gain a little, hold that gain by braking tractor while repositioning Ridgeline.

Once in a clear area, able to disconnect the flail and reposition to front with hopes of getting it turned toward the house. Success, me in Ridgeline, John on tractor for the brakes, got it up to the driveway.
Crawled under and found the problem - the hydro filer. Not unusual that I hit the loose gravel, but I do remember hearing an unusual clink. Must have been a rock hitting the filter.

Only 1115, time to get to my dealer before he closes at 1200.
Half way there by time I learn none in stock. Couldn’t cross reference at NAPA either.
Came home, ordered online, done for day.
