Good morning!!!!

After a beautiful sunny day yesterday with a high near 70F, we're back to chilly, overcast, and rainy with a current temp of 39F ...

The 10 day forecast is mixed bag ... mostly 40's for highs, with an occasional 50 or 60 mixed in ... and enough precipitation to keep the ground fairly wet and the grass growing at a good pace ... :(

So we're probably looking at another spring where the grass will have to be picked up once it's cut ...

... rswyan still have the fish tanks?
Yes.

I met Irv and his wife for a late breakfast a little over a month ago. They are doing good.
Thanks - glad to hear it ...

... rswyan, hope you did not sustain much damage. ...
As odd as it may seem, as near as I can tell we did not sustain any damage.

A few days before that storm though there was a large (36" diameter or so, at the base), old oak that sheared off about 6' - 8' above ground and came down. It's actually on the neighbor's property and it fell more or less along the property line ... but it had enough of an angle on it that the some of the top portion made it over onto our property. It will probably be at least a few weeks before it's dry enough to get over there to clean things up.

How many asparagus plants are needed to get a nice bunch. I planted about 8 plants years ago. They have not flourished. I believe only 4 are still alive. I need to get some more root sets. I'm just wondering how many I should plant?
That's probably a matter of personal taste.

Once upon a time we had a row that was over 100' long ... :D

As I understand it soil pH is pretty important ... we used to occasionally use aluminum sulfate to side dress the plants. For whatever reason, once they got established here they just seemed to keep on going year after year ... ya definitely want to keep the bed weeded, as they don't do well if they have to compete.

There's still a small clump here, up along the property line near the driveway that I've been thinking about transplanting and then cultivating ... who knows ... this might be the year ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

68 degrees this morning, going for 92. Very light breeze right now, but forecast to pick up later. I'm hoping it'll dry the grass because I've got to mow the yard today. More rain forecast for this coming weekend.

Started at daylight; waited until I didn't need to use the headlights on the mower and got it done and got a shower before it gets too hot today.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 7:45AM. Cloudy skies. High 63F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Got another 13' strip poured on the generator pad yesterday, only one more to go; concrete dust makes me sneeze! I thought I'd purchased enough bags to get it done in the last HD run, but for some reason this pour used two more bags than the other two. The last pour was going to be only 2' wide, but since I have to go to the store anyway, I might as well go for 3' like the rest of them. The propane guy is supposed to be here to finish the tank upgrade this morning, so I'll work on forms and rebar while he does that, then hit HD this afternoon, to be ready to finish the pad tomorrow. Whew, I'll be glad when that's done!

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!

Many years ago, when I mixed concrete in a wheel barrow with a garden hoe, I decided to figure out correct amount of water, per 60# bag. I used an empty gallon plastic milk jug and as I added measured amounts of water to the mix, I added same amount to the milk jug. When I was finally happy with the consistency, I marked the level in the with w wide permanent marker. Still works to this day, even with my HF electric mixer.

Tree limbs all cleaned up around the live oak tree in advance of forecast storms and wind this afternoon.

I’ll need to use the big tractor, with higher lift, to put rest of the limbs on top of the burn pile. Still way too soft for its weight and R1 tires.

All was not without incident. Got too close to the tree and front tires made some nice foot deep ruts to clean up later. The ground within the drip line is so soft you can barely walk on it without sinking in.

43°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 59° today. The high for today will be lower than the low yesterday morning. We broke the 130 year old record yesterday by officially hitting 90°. My car said 92° when I left work. Add to that we are forecast to get into the mid-30s overnight tonight, and we have a nearly 60ï½° temp swing in less than two days. That should help with cold and flu season.

Started cleaning up some stuff along the south fence line after work yesterday. Got a bunch of small trees trimmed up to make mowing along that fence easier, and removed some small stumps. I was going to do some fence mending as well, but a quick storm blew in and put a halt to that. Interesting clouds as it rolled in, and some fascinating lightning after.

The temperature dropped 12 degrees in about five minutes with this storm, and the winds were notable. The wind stopped for awhile after it had passed, but then picked up again with a renewed vigor about 15 minutes later, and blew for much of the night. In total, I think we got exactly zero drops of rain from it.

Study Leads to Food Fight Over Health Risks of Red Meat

worthwhile article on red meat issues.

People who eat the most red meat are more prone to developing cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, obesity, colorectal cancer and other cancers. There is remarkable consistency and reproducibility in the evidence. That's when you know a finding is real, and not just “noise.”

I sure believe it. My late wife loved meat, particularly red meat. If she came back in another life, I think she would have been a mountain lion.
She died of colorectal cancer...

Most of the packaged chicken I saw today in food store was immersed in a solution of 12-15 percent salty water and chemicals.
The cheap chicken I have bought for years is 1.99 a pound, nothing added, boneless skinless chicken quarters, pre-frozen.
Which went up a dollar a pound a month ago and I doubt will go back down anytime soon.
Seems we have issues in shipping and distribution.

I wonder how our favorite chicken farmer is doing.

article I read yesterday said meat supplies are challenged, processing factories have increasingly sick employees and short staff
is creating problems. Another good reason to wipe down the plastic packages...

Paul, great pics. Storm's a coming...but only a lot of cold air.

Beautiful morning... bright sunny day on tap.. perhaps 60s today.

Just got our new dishwasher delivered.. not sure when I want to install it. Old one is Bosch, new one is Whirlpool. Connections are all different (location and type).. I might put an outlet in for it instead of direct wired. Might make it easier next time..

Stay safe, prayers for all

We got a new whirlpool dishwasher from Costco and my wife is very pleased with it. It did have one issue with it after about 2 months. There was water in the bottom because the pump did not drain. It was repaired under warranty with a replacement pump and no problems since.

I had problems logging in this morning, but all good now.
Storm is just hitting us now. Lights are fluctuating. May be off line for a bit.
Steady rain, was going to clear the drainage ditches today. Guess that's not gonna happen

No. My password was not impacted. Also, profanity, even masked profanity, violates TBN's Terms of Service. Your other post has been removed.

good morning all. Warm out, low 80's today, but they said that for yesterday and it hit 92.
The storm that hit Buppies and Buckeye is headed my way in several hours.
Going to do a little foodshopping shortly and will be home before the rains come.
Then temps drop a lot, only 60 for a high tomorrow.

Spring flowers putting on a show. The large tree with all the white flowers is very fragrant and four big trees in back yard
make the whole area smell nice. I keep forgetting the real name for this tree/giant bush but the locals call them redtips.
Beautiful tree, leaves turn from green to red to green and white flowers are very pretty. Almost smells like a lilac, and probably makes me sneeze.

I believe the second photo is a Redtip, Photinia x fraserii
