Another good morning.
All the bits and pieces assembled, minus a couple hundred screws (maybe tomorrow) and the roof metal.

Good evening. It was 72° at 5 a.m. and eventually got up to 76°. The temperature started dropping by 4 p.m. and its now 61° as the cool front passed thru. We had 1/2” of rain in both gauges this morning and a bit more today.

I turned on the Keurig coffee machine when I first got up this morning. Put a coffee pod in it and started a brew cycle. It did about 1/4 cup then it’s power turned off stopping the brew. I’m so smart I ruined two more pods as the machine repeatedly shut off a few seconds into the cycle. So .... no coffee this morning. We have a nice Cuisinart coffee maker (actually 2) but ... I couldn’t find any ground coffee or coffee beans. I’d just bought the Keurig in mid-December and actually still had the box it came in ... so I packed it up and headed to the store in Houston that it came from. They had none of that model in stock so I could just do a simple exchange. I ended up with a fancier machine ... paying the difference. After a 130 mile round trip ... There WILL be coffee in the morning!

As it rained on and off all afternoon ... I worked on some projects in the shop.

Hope everyone is having a nice start to your week.

Prayers to all.

Seeing deer around the house is pretty common. A couple even come by to see one of the cats on a regular basis. I think he has a couple of females who like him. Strange site seeing the cat prancing around in the window sill for 2 young does.

When we first moved here, we had a doe grow up in the woods behind the house. She actually lived a long time for a deer in the wild. She was around at least 9 years. She got so friendly we could almost touch her. We could sit outside in the evenings, she and her young ones would stand just out of reach. We could get up and move around, as long as we didn稚 move towards them. If we did move towards them, they would move away, then slowly work their way back.

She had a rather distinctive white patch under her neck. A number of the deer that hang around here have a similar patch. And a number of them are simply not afraid of us.

The 2 in the pictures are regulars. Not quite as friendly as their great grandmother, but close. Couple of years ago, when they were yearlings, they quietly came in behind me when I was hunting. They were maybe 10 away when I heard them. I spun around, they didn稚 run, they stood there stomping their feet. I didn稚 shoot them because A. They were too small, B. You wouldn稚 shoot your dog because you can.

2 - 3 mornings a week, they are standing on the hill above the barn to greet one of us when we go to the barn.

And yes, they eat host as.....

Great visit with Irv and his wife. Irv and I worked at various auto plants in Detroit area. Both of us had lots of stories and pictures to share. We met at 10 am. When we left restaurant it was after 12pm. We are going to do it again.
Found out they like to drive around looking at old Michigan Barns like I do. Invited them to join a group that post pictures of them.
Passed everyone’s comments to him.

He had no idea what he was about to start when he said good morning and gave that weather report. Lol

Glad you had a good visit.

..... oh , cannot forget about the snakes. I have dealt with numerous rattlesnakes.
…………………………
SNAKES....

I remember sleeping in my cot at scout camp one night, had my mesquito net over me, woke up as a mouse ran across my chest.
But I didn’t mind, the camp spots without mice had snakes.

Good morning. Todays forecast is for wind to drop to not much more than 40mph.

Yesterday's wind was quite something. On my rounds to check on the livestock, I walked, or at least tried to walk, over the higher ground to stay clear of trees. The gusts on my back had me keep breaking into a jog to try and stay upright and on the way back it stopped me in my tracks several times. Not wonder a BA flight has taken the record for the shortest time from New York to London, 825 mph in a subsonic plane !

Ron, thanks for the garbage can free snow pic. There is a slim chance we may get some of our own in a day or two (err, I mean snow - we already have garbage cans :))

Thomas, nice fox pic

Rich, great pics !

I saw something that said a California mountain top recorded a gust over 200 mph!

A snowy 27コF for today's low temperature and the temperature has been stuck on 33コF here with +6.5 of accumulated snow so far which has greatly exceeded NWS predictions and my own expectations. I am happy that the NWS and I were wrong. This snow has been/is pretty light to shovel = the deck is cleared. Now it's the waiting game between plugging in the power cord running to the tractor's engine block and HST filter pre-heaters and waiting for the snow to change over to rain or end. I may need to find my rain gear.

Time to prep some fruit salad and make lunch.

This is one interesting thread. Miss a day or two here and it takes a long time to catch up with the news.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

J and all up there in that snow, be careful.

Ron and Irv, glad your visit went well.

PJ, you might should wear kevlar travelling through E. St. Louis.

I saw something that said a California mountain top recorded a gust over 200 mph!.

Our local weather guy said that was probably a data error, as the next highest reading was "only" 125 mph and wasn't taken that far away.

I'm keeping my eye on the news feeds to see if that reading is verified...:confused3:
