38 this morning and headed to 47 today. 73 for high yesterday.

Birds arrive today. All of them. So will spend the day with that chore. Then funeral home visit tonight. Wife's aunt passed on Christmas. Reading newspaper and fell over.

That sounds interesting, keep us updated.

Nothing yet, but then the "suspect" hasn't been around much lately, until this weekend. There were a bunch of pictures of me going in and out, tractor going in and out, and a racoon climbing around in the rafters at night. Re-aimed it down a bit to get a better view of the door area. After last night, though, I may have something.

I will say, though, that for a $79 camera, it takes pretty decent pictures, even at night.

30°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 46° today.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Back at work today.

Good Morning! 41F @ 8:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 51F. Winds light and variable.

Plentiful leftovers for breakfast from Christmas Day's feast, then out to our host's make shift range for a little plinking. One wife had a new pistol to try, the kids had a crack at the .22 revolver and slide action rifle I brought along, as did most of the adults. We all had fun, but not a full brick's worth so some of the ammo made it back with me. No traffic to speak of on the way home, and I arrived just at sunset and enjoyed a nice orange and pink view of the forebay from the top of the hill. Still pretty tired from the previous night's shenanigans, so hit the sack early and slept pretty well.

I'll try to get a motorcycle washed today, not much else planned.

65°F and .08 inches rain since midnight.
Off to Hilo. Breakfast with wife, not that we need to eat. Drop Sequoia to get new latch installed on rear lid.

Be safe
Have a great day

Letting someone else drive my tractors is always challenging for me. You know, like how about letting the tractor come to a stop before you
stomp on reverse?....Or wait an extra second for that non synchro trans to not grind. Basically slow down and think. good advice for all of us...
I just have visions of someone digging in a dirt or stone pile with my hydro left in High range...producing a symphony of odd squeals and groaning pumps. <snip>
Or they run the tank dry and GAS it up.

that would surely get their borrowing privileges revoked...

RNG, what is it with your state? Now I'm afraid of driving there...
Can You Get a DUI for Drinking Too Much Coffee?
first you have to dodge the fruits and nuts, and now I've can't have a cup of fresh brew?

Geez, I can see Billy visiting San Francisco and finishing a cup of his perfectly roasted and brewed coffee and heading downtown.
Lights, lots of lights, flashing blue lights, for me?? Over he goes.
Sir, are you under the influence?
WHAT!?? Absolutely not. Just had two cups of coffee.
Coffee? Did you say coffee sir?
Yes,a nice high mountain Balinese blend.
Sir, did you roast this coffee in California?
Well no, I did it before I left home.
Sir, All coffee consumed here must be roasted here.
Sir, you are under arrest for illegal coffee roasting.
please step out of your car, hands up

and when do we get to the street cars?...

I'll have to remember this when I visit my sister. Guess I'd better stick to milk.
Your state legislature is a real trip, likely in more ways than one.

Well Drew, I'd be the last one to stand up for California's legislature, judicial system, or many of its law enforcement departments. Like many places, these agencies have become an entity unto themselves, with feeding at the public trough raised to a much higher priority than anything to do with public safety or well being. They get away with it because of low voter turn out and the many that do vote being too lazy to educate themselves on the issues or behavior problems in government.

But hey, the weather sure is nice!

A white and crisp -4C/25F Good morning from me. Gateway mud should be nicely solidified this morning, allowing the Iseki to take a longer rest in the barn today while I take my fencing tools over the fields in the car. Have just filled 2 hot water bottles and left them on the dashboard to thaw the windscreen while I catch up on tbn (and thanks for making me laugh with that philosophical last post RNG. California sounds just like England - except for the weather  )

As a concession to getting older, I have been considering buying a little electric chainsaw blade sharpener. I quite enjoy hand filing and can generally keep my saws cutting straight, but sometimes my right shoulder resents the repetition on each tooth. Has anyone had success in retiring their hand files ?

There are lots of cheap disc sharpeners, but it's hard to know which of them are any good. When I read the instructions for one which looked ok, it needed a screw tightening and releasing for every tooth, which my wrist would not thank me for. Right now I'm leaning towards the Granberg 101XT, which uses tiny abrasive stones and looks quick and easy to use.
