Drew, don’t be tempted to sample those plants.... There are many plants that can cause those side effects.... I wonder if there is a threshold of how bad the effect is before they have to put warning labels on them. There are a lot of hallucinogenic plants growing wild out here. Every couple of years we hear of some kids smoking or eating them and getting very sick or injured. The two biggest ones are peyote and Jimson weed.

25F and frosty this morning.. had some decent weather over the weekend.. spent much of my time working on ledger to figure out what we spend money on.. we have a gap (I'm sure Drew just loved telling folks that as a CFP) between expected retirement income and our expenses... I may have to find a job (low stress) if we are not able to identify some areas to cut back..

I sure enjoy the diversity of this group and the sharing of pictures and activities. It always amazes me when I have been off the computer a few days and then catch up.

Stay safe, prayers for all

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:45AM. Sunny. High 71F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Lots of nice wildlife and weather pics lately, folks. Thanks for sharing. About this time of year, when the grasses are just starting to grow again but aren't very long, the deer will eat just about anything. Had one eat a jade plant that was parked on the front porch, and an agave, too. But they don't seem to care for any of the herb plants or plants with strong smells in the leaves: Sage, rosemary, lavender, and artemisia are all safe. But the same oils that the deer don't like make them good fire fuel...

I should get some traps set out in the garage, Wng. Been finding balls of fluff the mice have put in some of the toolbox drawers. I do have one or two in the house, but so far, there've been no takers.

Finished up with marking the last of the trenches yesterday, then switched over to the cement mixer. Learned that the rims were too small for the tire mounting machine, and that the tires are old and hard, making for a delightful time with the tire levers. Managed to get one tube installed and back on, then pinched the other, so I got to have that wrestling match twice. Had some time to kill while the patch was drying, and gave the starter cord a pull on the engine, and it locked up solid. Once the spark plug was out, I got a geyser of rusty water spouting from the hole. Seems that the muffler on top of the engine isn't much of a rain shield, and the exhaust valve being open didn't keep the rain out. No telling how long it's been that way, but the piston does still go up and down, so at least the rings aren't frozen. I checked the oil and it isn't all creamy, so maybe no water made it into the crankcase. Then I found the gas cap was loose, and sure enough, there was rust in the tank. Took it off, pinched off the fuel line, and filled it up with Evapo-Rust to sit overnight. So today I'll rinse the tank out with steaming hot water, blow it dry, and see if the engine will fire. I did get a spark from the plug, it has compression, so if the plug stays dry and I put gas in it, it should run. If not, it'll be time to shop for a new mixer, a much bigger one this time.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

Would love to know more about evapo rust if you have time

A snowy 27コF for today's low temperature and the temperature has been stuck on 33コF here with +6.5 of accumulated snow so far which has greatly exceeded NWS predictions and my own expectations. I am happy that the NWS and I were wrong. This snow has been/is pretty light to shovel = the deck is cleared. Now it's the waiting game between plugging in the power cord running to the tractor's engine block and HST filter pre-heaters and waiting for the snow to change over to rain or end. I may need to find my rain gear.

Time to prep some fruit salad and make lunch.

This is one interesting thread. Miss a day or two here and it takes a long time to catch up with the news.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

33°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 39*° today. Rained on and off all day yesterday, and into the wee small hours of the morning.

Did some errand running for The Wife Saturday morning, then spent some quality time in the studio for the rest of the day. Rainy day Sunday made for an all-day studio day. Didn't hate that at all. Wife made some of her delicious BBQ pulled chicken in the slow cooker yesterday as well. Didn't hate that either.

Interesting that you heard about the cheerleader brawl all the way in Texas, Kyle. There was much joking about it here locally via Facebook. East St. Louis has not had a good reputation since probably the late '60s, and they sometimes seem intent on reinforcing that.

Hope you are surviving the storms, Eric. A friend of mine in Widnes (Liverpool area) posted on Facebook yesterday that he thought it sounded like his roof was trying to lift off his house from the incredible winds.

55 now, rain approaching. Looks like warm and wet for a couple of days.
Nice pictures everyone, always interesting to see what’s happening other places. Had some running around and visits to attend to this morning.

Drew, I sure hope you get relief ASAP.
Everyone is in my prayers.
